“great place to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2011

Central location, staff were excellent , nothing to much trouble really friendly, its a spacious studio flat, which is clean, has a fridge in the room which was quite. Location wise is fantastic right in the middle of sorrento yet quite location just off the main square , should I ever go back definitely look to stay again.

Room Tip: room with a balcony( not very big )

Easy five minute walk from coach/train station along main high street - no need for a taxi but if you do, ask to be dropped at "Angelo Innacoli Shop" 137 Corsa Italia. You then walk up the passge to right of shop and then a few steps right and then left up another narrow passage that has Sorrento Town Suites sign at entry. The entrance is just on the left next to a small Taverna Restaurant.
The rooms are very central to the main centre of Sorrento and this is great considering the surrounding, steep roads that enter the town. Staying even a short distance out of main area will require a great deal of stamina! Even though it is cental the rooms are very quiet and secluded from the main throng of activity, so only the birdsong can keep you from sleep.
There are 6 rooms that are all of a nice size with twin/double beds and additional folding beds where needed. very nicely appointed but not flashy. Photos on website are all a good representation of what you get.
The bathrooms are better than some at supposedly 4-star hotels. Shower, WC, Bidet and sink. Shower in top floor room a little smaller than others but still adequate. Inland view over orange and lemon groves from nice balcony or roof terrace (top floor room).
Basic kitchenette with twin electric hob, pans, cutlery, can opener, kettle, small cups and asstd plates. I suggest taking or buying a couple of mugs, bread knife, scissors and plastic/wood spoon for stirring! There are no beer or wine glasses either!
There were plenty of hangers and hanging space in addition to ample drawer space. Some rooms have a bathroom cabinet with hair dryer but no cabinet in top floor room.
The top floor room has advantage of having additional large chest of drawers and very large roooftop terrace, but has disadvantage of smaller shower, no cabinet, poor room lighting at night and, of course, SIX flights of stairs to climb to get there!
Plenty of extra bedding is supplied in case of cool weather or if you want to split double bed into two singles. Towels are thin cotton type but are replaced during daily maid service or by arrangement otherwise. The maid also provides the early/late morning breakfast tray of croissants, melba toast and preserves with a cup of your preferred tea/coffee. I recommend the Americana con latte! If you want a cooked breakfast there are a few "English Pub" establishments that will provide this for around 8 Euros.
For fod you can stock up on basics from the small supermarket towards the rail station which we found to be good value.
There are many tavernas and restaurants wherever you may go, particularly down the narrow backstreet market roads off the main street. Pizzas are extremely authentic and cheap but the rest of the menu may appear quite pricey to the average Brit. Beer is around 8 euro a pint and all soft drinks are at a similar level but wine is reasonably cheap as it also is in the wine shops. Watch out for service and cover charges too!
Trips to many localities can be made on various DIFFERENT services. The SITA bus is a very good value and comfortable means to see many places and a full 24 hour bus ticket costs just 7 euros for hop on/off travel. The Curreri caches cover longer distances for set fares to Rome and Naples etc and again are comfy. The circumvesuvia train service is very frequent to many destinations BUT it is extremely shaky, noisy and rather uncomfortable for anything more than the shortest journey. The price is very cheap and is based on TIME. You can buy a ticket for 3.60 euros which will allow you 100 minutes of travel from first entry through electronic barriers. This can get you to Naples on the Fast Direct train (DD). Naples station is quite a way from the airport so I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND travelling via the Curreri coach on arrival! The coach id right outside the airport terminal and operates every 2 hours or so and costs 10 Euros! A taxi can be anything between 100 and 250 euros and is not really much quicker considering the terrain. I would also recommend that you visit all the neighbouring towns via SITA or local bus services. Amalfi is extremely nice but some way off. Salerno is very built up and hardly worth the long journey but it does have a sea front promenade that stretches for miles.
Capri is a nice day out but I felt it hardly worth the expense of the boat fare and feel that on this occasion a shared boat TOUR of the whole island with a decent stopover would provide better value.
Overall, in summary, I would be very happy indeed to return to Sorrento and stay in Sorrento Town Suites!

We spent 4 nights here, primarily because of location and reasonable off-season price. The room was large and fairly modern with a small kitchenette. It also had a small patio area. The bed was very hard, but other than that was satisfactory.

This is much more like renting an apartment than getting a hotel. So if you are expecting a hotel you may be disapointed. But if you are used to staying in vacation apartments this is a good one. The location cannot be beat.

We stayed in the "other" location - not the one shown in all of the pictures. The room was quite large, reasonably clean. The location was in the historic center, right above a restaurant and bar which made it noisy. The breakfast consisted of a wrapped in plastic crescent roll, and a cappuccino machine in the room where you make your own. Maybe this is what you should expect for the price - but it wasn't what I was expecting (again, based on the location and the pictures I had viewed). Unfortunately there was construction in the house below and directly across from the room, where they were dumping wheelbarrows full of broken tile into a truckbed both mornings we stayed there, at 7am. It was horrendous noise, but at least it got us up early. No fault of the B&B-just unlucky. The staff were quite nice so that made up for some of the detractions.

Stayed in Sorrento Town Suites with two other lady friends end of Sept/10. Initally stayed in lower floor apt. with no balcony. Room was just alright. Manager very accommodating. Moved us to third floor with lovely balcony overlooking lemon grove on third day. Everything worked well, air, shower, beds were comfortable. Kitchenette, very clean unit. Close to centre of piazza, easy walking distance to shopping, restaurants, train station. Croissant and tea, coffee, delivered for breakfast each morning. Enjoyed the Tavern Allegra just a few feet from our front door. Petro entertained us with his mandolin playing, singing and took requests. Had a wonderful time. Food was great! The gnotchi was wonderful. Petro's wife was wonderful. Made us homemade minnestroni soup when feeling ill with a cold. Would recommend both to any traveler looking for a great experience in Sorrento. Good base for travelling to Amalfi Coast, Isle of Capri, and Pompei. What a fabulous visit. You will not be disappointed. Three travelling ladies from Ontario, Canada. Ciao, Ciao

An easy to get to hotel/B&B from the train, located in central Sorrento. The suite was large, quiet, very reasonalby priced and comfortable. Also recently renovated. Our host, Maria was charming and a great conversationalist. She's part of a family run business that has a delighful restuarant below the hotel. Sorrento has alot of old Italy, locals promenading on the main street at night, narrow streets and back lanes, great ocean views and conveniently located to Vesuvius by train. Great place!

The rooms were lovely, and the many flights up kept us in shape during our three day stay. We had a wonderful patio overlooking parts of the city which provided a great view for the firework shows that were held in Sorrento during our time there. Breakfast served to us practically in bed was excellent. Best of all was our kind host and friend Roberto and the staff who were very catering to our many needs!
