The Plaza is literally just a couple of minutes from the main square in the centre of Sorrento so it's in a superb location for the restaurants in the town centre. On the downside, this means that it doesn't have views of the Bay of Naples that some of the other hotels have so it's a question of deciding what's important to you.

The hotel itself is very modern and the only downside to it that I found was that some of the guests seem unwilling to let the door closers on the bedroom doors do their job - they seem to pull them shut and not care that the resulting noise disturbs everybody around.

But, the staff are excellent - the receptioon desk, the barmen and the waiters at breakfast were all terrific.

The breakfast deserves special mention: it's one of the best that I've seen in any European hotel. I've seen on here that some people complain about the sausages and bacon. Frankly, if you choose sausages and bacon in a hotel in southern Italy, what do you expect? There's a good selection of cereals, an amazing choice of fresh fruit, pastries galore and excellent coffee.

Deginitely recommended.

19 April 2013 I am a travel agent from New Jersey and a little over 3 years ago I took a group of women to the Plaza. I picked it because it was so well located, charming and a good price. What I did not know was that many of my clients would also stay there....especially the ones that love to experience the local feel when they visit. The Family that is involved with the hotel, manages it, the daughter owns the jewelry store across the way, and the other part of the family owns the furniture store a few doors down
There is a wonderful market across the street with savory Italian delicacies....great for a snack on the balcony of one's room.

Best of all the local color is Euro, the dog. He is their mascot and is known by all who visit Sorrento. When we were there, at 530PM, he joined us and the family for happy hour. He is a four legged host who knows how important he is to that side of the Piazza Tasso.
Everyone of my clients who visits there looks for Euro.....so Norhwest NJ does not fail to say hello. For a wonderful local experience in Sorrento, close to all kinds of transportation and sites, there is no place better. Nancy A. Parker, Argosy Travel Sparta NJ USA

Room Tip: For the best view, take the rooms on the 5th floor.

We recently stayed at the Hotel Plaza and were very pleased with this hotel. We found the staff to be exceedingly helpful with things such as train/bus/ferry schedules. I had several questions due to the holiday weekend and they were patient and answered them all and accurately. In addition, the hotel was convenient to the bus and train.

The rooms were clean and modern. The night before Easter, the staff left large chocolate eggs for our children. What a treat! Very nice touch.

The real show-stopper at this hotel is the breakfast. If it wasn't the yummiest, it was certainly a feast for the eyes. Numerous pastries and fancily prepared treats. There was champaign on the buffet, a juicer with fresh veggies/fruits, cappuccino was available (and hot chocolate was available). I promise one morning they had made some sort of caviar hors d'oeuvres! It was a treat to have it included in the price of our room.

We had a great time here, hotel in a great location away from the main road but close enough to everything. The roof top area is just stunning as is the view, the room smallish but nice. The staff were helpful and friendly, especially the chap who was at the bar by the reception. The breakfast was amazing, food was very good and it was a really pleasant stay, would certainly go back.
