This hotel is very close to the train station (which was helpful) and on one of the main streets (which was very pretty and done up for christmas). We only stayed one night, arrived late and left early so I can't say much about the city except that if you walked a few minutes from the hotel there was a pretty viw of the sea... but most of the cliff line was taken up by fancier hotels and you either had to stay there or buy drinks at their bar to enjoy it. The hotel itself was very pretty and comfortable. We had a room for four which was one double bed and a set of bunk beds... all of which were decent. The room was very clean and had a mini fridge and a decent sized shower which got very hot. While we did technically have an outside terrace it was walled in on all sides except the roof... so there was no veiw of anything. And we were disapointed that the roof garden was closed. The woman at the desk explained that it was closed for the winter which totally makes sense and might even be on the website somewhere... but we didn't know so we were a little bummed. Anyway it was a comfortable, clean, pleasant room and I felt like it was a good value.

This hotel is in a perfect location in the heart of Sorrento, allowing you to easily walk to the main square, the restaurants and shops, and the train/bus station. The rooms were spotless, and the hotel was simply but classically decorated. I traveled with my husband and 2 young adult daughters. We had the quad room with a double bed and bunk beds that turned down from the wall. Although the room was small and didn't have alot of extra space, it worked perfectly for us as you really don't want to spend lots of time in your room- you want to be out exploring the beautiful town. The beds were all very comfortable, and we had an adorable balcony. Breakfast choices were more than enough, and there were delicious home baked cakes, the smell of those greeted us when we checked into the hotel.
The staff was wonderful. Theresa and Iolanda were so nice and helpful with great recommendations. Iolanda saved the day and arranged for a cab with a very charming driver to take us to Positano when we found out the bus was not running. The gentleman who worked at the desk was also very nice. This is a good base for traveling to Pompeii and the Amalfi coast. The Hotel Sorrento City had a great feel to it, and was a very good value.

A lovely little hotel in perfect location - just a few minutes' walk from the train station and a stone throw from the main square and the sea front. Lovely and helpful staff. The room is not big but clean and bright. Very good value for money.

My wife and I (and our two friends) stayed for four nights in August 2011. This was our first stop on a three week self guided tour of Italy. All our accommodation was researched on Trip Advisor and the reviews of this place were again accurate. If you want to be in the middle of Sorrento, with easy access to the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii, then you should stay here. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms were small but very clean. Sorrento itself was one of our favourite places to visit and we intend to return one day. Would recommend this place to anyone that wants to stay close to great restaurants and shopping options.

Our three day itinerary included a day trip to Pompeii, cruise to Capri, and a bus trip to the Amalfi Coast including Positano, Amalfi and Ravello. What a wonderful part of the world.

We were unexpectedly forced to remain in Sorrento an extra day and desperately needed a hotel. We found the Hotel Sorrento City right in the heart of things, and what a find it was. The room we got was wonderful - a very comfortable bed in a quiet and comfortable room. That was a real blessing, but what was even better was our hostess/manager Idanda. We needed help regarding reservations we'd made in Amalfi but would be unable to keep, and she called the hotel for us to cancel that night's reservation there. She also helped us get the cancellation fee waived, and that was no easy feat. Throughout, Idanda was totally professional, friendly, positive, incredibly helpful and perseverant. I can't express enough praise to match the service she gave us. We had a wonderful night at the Hotel Sorrento City and recommend it to anyone wanting a great place to stay in Sorrento.

Room Tip: Inside rooms are quieter.

I stayed here for a week in October. The hotel is in a great location in the middle of the main street in between the town's two major squares and 5 min from the station. It is very flat to walk around which is a great relief after you have been sight-seeing around the Almalfi and related areas. It's great to get back after a long day and just wander about the many shops, eateries and street markets. There are other hotels that have terrific views but usually they involve steep climbs, stairs or paths which cause you to rely on third parties. The icing on the cake with this hotel is the front of house staff, always smiling with a genuine hello how was your day greeting each day. They are a delight.

I loved the location. Main street minutes from the train station. I give Roberta the proprietor the highest marks for customer appreciation and service. She spent 2 hours trying to change my train tickets one evening and then provided her personal cell phone number when we took a day trip to Capri, as she was slightly concerned we may miss the last boat back. Great Wi-Fi in the lobby, it would be nice to extend to the rooms, but not a big deal. Only suggestion, the happy hour offerings of cheese, pieces of bread etc were not up to the standards of the hotel. Once again, a minor item. Ask Roberta for a restaurant suggestion, I wish I could remember the fabulous place within 5 minutes walking distance she suggested. I'd return for sure!
