“Enjoyable Zi ' Teresa Hotel experience”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

My husband and I stayed here for 11 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we would recommend it, it was excellent value for money and 3 stars does it an injustice really. The hotel was exceptionally clean, the staff friendly, gracious and always happy to help. A real family atmosphere that made us feel truly welcome. The restaurant staff were lovely, especially Corrado who's English speaking was exceptional. Our room was perfectly situated on the 4th floor at the end of the hotel, we could see so much, Napoli, Versuveus and towards Pompei.

The hotel is situated perfectly for an easy 10 minute (approx) walk into the centre of Sorrento and far enough away to avoid the noise of the hustle and bustle of the town centre. There are plenty of bars close by for an evening coffee or nightcap. The swimming pool looked fabulous, the views from the top of the hotel were spectacular with the orange. lemon, pomegranate and grapes groves below surrounding half of the hotel, really lovely.

The menu for breakfast was a surprise initially, but typically Italian with a wide variety of sweet and savory pastries, toast, fresh bread, croissants, fruit salad, cold meats, cheese and yogurts. Fresh tea and coffee, though I have to say the decaf coffee was foul so a trip to the local supermarket in the town soon remedied that!

The evening meals were a 3 course menu with a choice of three starters and main meals.Light easy food that suited its purpose.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again and would not hesitate to recommend it. Thank -you to all those staff who made our holiday that little bit more enjoyable for the care and attention shown to us.

Room Tip: levels four and five towards the end, excellent views to be had :)

Overview:

My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel for 10 nights on our trip to Italy. We really loved it here and if I go back to Sorrento I will be happy stay here again. The staff, rooms, service, pool, rooftop garden were all great. It has a beautiful view of Sorrento's bay. We were made feel at home straight away by Alfonso who checked us into our room. All the staff here were great. Upon leaving the hotel Alfonso gave us directions to a pizza restauran in Napoli. Sorry Alfonso, if you read this, we weren't hungry enough to go there when we got to Napoli but we still have your directions for the next time we get there.

Location:

Hotel is perfectly located only about a 5-7 minute walk from Sorrento's main square. Heading down from the train station to the main street you turn right and the hotel is about 500 metres walk. Just passed the crossroads you'll see a sign for Hotel Zi-Teresa and it is on the left down a lane, which is great because you don't get disturbed by any noise from the main street.

Staff

All the staff were excellent. Very friendly and helpful to all our needs. We had no problem requesting anything from them and they always made us feel welcome. A big thanks to all you guys if you read this.

Rooms:

Our room was spacious with a sea view and balcony.

The one issue, which has also been alluded to in previous reviews here, is that you can hear noise from other rooms, and not necessarily the room that is next to yours either. This appears to be because of the air vents that appear to carry the sound. Our solution, if you experience this, was to close the bathroom door as the main vents appear to be located in there. It's not a big deal but something worth mentioning and maybe something the hotel should look into resolving.

Breakfast:

I really liked the breakfast and you certainly can't complain about the selection of foods; however, it is only served between 7 and 9 which means that if you had been out the night before or wanted to sleep in a little you could pretty much forget eating breakfast there. This wasn't a big issue for us and I was aware of breakfast times when booking the hotel so I was happy with this service.

Hotel Facilities:

There is no laundry service but there is a public launderette close by where you can wash and clean your clothes for approx €7.

Wifi: The Wifi in the hotel is expensive, however, there is a pub called "Banana Split" just beside the hotel which has free wifi.

Air conditioning is good but for some reason the hotel seemed to turn it off some nights. I'm not sure why this was. We woke up some mornings very hot. I forgot to mention this to the hotel staff when I was there and I'm 100% certain there would have been no problem in them keeping it on the whole night should I have requested.

Room Tip: Request a sea view room on and upper floor for the best view.

We have just coem back from a two week stay in Italy, one week of which was spent at Hotel Zi Teresa. We thought this hotel was great!

The location was brilliant, only a short walk (on the flat) to the main piazza and to the port. Only 5 mins to the circumvensia train station too.

Rooms were lovely and clean and quite large in comparison to the other hotels we experienced on this trip.

The swimming pool is really nice and is a great place to relax after some sightseeing.

The only downside is the breakfast. Its only served between 7-9 which we thought was a touch early! It was generally just not really that great, bread was a bit rubbish and the selection of ham and cheese was poor. If

This is our forth stay at the hotel, the staff are all so friendly and are always eager to help.
the rooms are kept clean and the towels changed daily. The addition of the pool this year is a great asset.
The location of the hotel is very good, not far from the train station and only a short walk to the town centre. It is not a noisy location being just off the main road.
The views are great from the sun roof which is a place to get away as it is under used.
Like all hotels you get some noise from other guests, but hey! we are all on holiday.
The food at the hotel is better this year waiter served, again food is a personal thing and can be great to some and not so great to others but we ate in every evening.
Breakfast , well there is a good choice with waiter served hot drinks
We will be using this great hotel again next year for our stay in Sorrento.

Sorrento itself is a busy town, there is a lot of traffic but there are plenty of nice shops and restuarants and places to visit. Don't be put off of going to Naples , we used a well known holiday company and the reps are so keen to sell their tours, but using the trains or buses to get to the attractions of Pompei, Herculaneum, Oplontis, Amalfi is cheap and easy. A ferry ticket obtained at the port will get you to the island of Capri, either walk up to the centre of Capri or get the venicular, once there you can get a local bus to AnaCapri but it does get packed. A trip to Naples by ferry is also easily done.

The hotel is just a few metres away from the main street through Sorrento - making it ideally suited for walks to the centre, trains and buses. Although the hotel is close to the road the rooms are very quiet and in fact I heard no road noise what so ever whilst in the hotel.

The hotel features amazing views of the bay from its roof top and the sunset from there is beautiful. The hotel itself is surrounded by lemon groves which you will also discover from the roof.

The rooms are cleaned, with fresh towels, daily and feature air conditioning. Our room had a balcony over looking the pool but we tended to sit out on the roof seating area due to the view! The staff are very pleasant, helpful and speak English - very helpful if, like me, Italian isn't your strong point.

We stayed on a half board basis - breakfast was continental style and the evening meal comprised of Italian dishes. On some nights the food wasn't brilliant but by no means in-edible.

There is lots to do in Sorrento and the surrounding area - I would highly recommend a trip to this part of the world.
