“Lovely but a few issues”

Lovely setting with amazing gardens great to have so much outside space and luckily the weather was perfect. But the noise from the sports centre is considerable which was a problem when out for a long day and you wanted some relaxation before dinner. This is no fault of the owners at all but it did spoil things for us. The location is good and we were glad to be away from the centre of Sorrento which was very busy.
Easy to get around and there are some shops and restaurants close by also handy for train station. The apartment is very spacious, clean and well equipped. It would have been nice to have some essentials in kitchen eg coffee/pastry we had travelled for nine hours and had to go straight to the supermarket. Maybe most people have cars and have brought supplies - just a small issue. Overall very good but noise did spoil things for us.

“Wonderful property and incredible hosts”
Reviewed June 18, 2017 for a stay in June 2017

Our stay at Chalet Claudia far exceeded our expectations and Angela is the most amazing hostess. We arrived very late in the evening and was worried this would be too much trouble, which it wasn't and Angela's brother was very helpful in pointing out the local places of interest. The apartment is set in the most stunning and peaceful grounds surrounded by lemon and cherry trees and was a perfect location to relax. The house is well equipped with everything you need and is meticulously clean. The pool is a short walk and is well worth the $10 entry. The apartment is in the heart of Sant'Agnello and is a 5-10 minute walk to shops/supermarket and some incredible restaurants. Angela really made our stay special and even brought us fresh fruit from the garden and pastries on occasions throughout the week. We are really grateful to her and her family for making us feel so welcome. I would highly recommend Chalet Claudia as a place to stay if you are holidaying in Sorrento.

“Excellent property, depending on your requirements”

My wife and I have just had a wonderful stay at Chalet Claudia and would gladly stay there again if we return to the area. However, its not for everyone so, to help you decide, here are a few points to bear in mind:

- We consider ourselves to be fast walkers but it is still a 30 minute walk into the centre of Sorrento. It is a pleasant walk which includes many glimpses across the Bay of Naples, but it is still 30 minutes. This includes a few spots where there is no pavement, although the drivers, much to our surprise, are very mindful of pedestrians walking on the side of the road. You can, however, get a local bus from just over the road provided you have bought bus tickets in advance from a local tobacconists since the bus drivers do not accept money on the bus.

- The chalet is situated in a small suburb of Sorrento called Sant Agnello. There are buses and trains from Sant Agnello to Naples, Pompeii, Herculaneum etc. but they are nearly always full by the time they arrive from Sorrento so you may have to stand.

- Not relating specifically to Chalet Claudia but useful to know is that, even in mid October, getting on the local SITA bus to the Amalfi coast can be a problem. If you arrive at the bus stop in Sorrento less than 15 minutes before the bus departs you will probably not get on it and will have to wait another 30 or 60 minutes for the next bus.

- Chalet Claudia is really a studio. It has a dining/sitting room with just a set of wardrobes dividing it from the bedroom. It also has one smallish shower room / toilet and a separate kitchen. For a couple it is ideal but for any more than two guests you may find it difficult to all share the bathroom and there is no privacy anywhere else in the chalet.

- Some other reviews mention a sports hall behind the chalet. This is more a large marquee so any noise travels far and wide. Some nights there was just the noise of badminton or tennis until 10:30pm. Other nights it is a bit more boisterous. On one night there was very loud karaoke going on until about 11:30pm. Even with the windows closed it sounded as if the karaoke was taking place inside the chalet.

- Again, as other people have mentioned, you have to go through 2 locked gates to get to the chalet so its very secure. However, the route between the gates is about 50m and is very badly lit so its best to take a small torch with you or have a mobile phone which gives out good light.

As I said, these are just some pointers. All the good points mentioned in other reviews, such as being met at the bus stop by the owners, are true. So, provided you can cope with the pointers above then you will have a wonderful stay at Chalet Claudia.

We loved our stay in chalet Claudia and would not hesitate to return and tell others about her. The surroundings are ideal, a massive garden full of lemon trees, it's very secure with two locked gates. The owners sister is lovely and very accommodating and helpful. The usage of the hotels pool is a great add on as the beaches are not close. It feels very private and secluded. It's a great base to travel from, we did pompeii, Herculaneum, Amalfi coast and Ravello from there. It's a half an hour walk into the heart of Sorrento but it was an enjoyable walk in. Whoever goes will not be disappointed. The only thing missing was scissors if your going to be picky, but the odd looking knife got us into what we needed.
There is a supermarket 8 mins up the road which covers all needs. It has your local bakery, butchers, fish mungers, and post office etc, these are all on the Main Street.
Trains and local buses are good and cheap, again just a 8 min walk more or less up the road, it does get crowded though so I wouldn't want to be there in the summer months when it's scorching on top of crammed.
All in all it was a fabulous holiday, we drank in the sun, beauty and beverages of all kinds of course.
Happy hols if you decide to go :-)

This is one advert that exceeds what it promises. We were expecting a little cottage, and in truth, it is a stunning little villa, situated in a lemon grove. Very quiet, so relaxing. It is about 20 minutes walk from town in a stunning cliff top walk, but the bus stops right outside the gate, so transport if you want to use it is right on the doorstep. The closest "beach" is about 5 mins away, (piers built out into the sea, as opposed to sandy beaches), and there is a pool in the complex next door.

Angela is a sensational host, and very generous and helpful. We loved our stay there (10 days). It is the perfect place to visit up the coast to Naples and Pompeii, and down the coast to Amalfi, Positano and Ravello. The beauty of the area is breathtaking.

Truly one of the best places I have ever stayed. Absolutely, completely, totally recommend!

“A real gem”

Delighted with our choice of holiday stay. This is a bungalow rather than an apartment in the lovely grounds of the owner's house in S, Angello and adjacent to the Esperidi resort complex. The accommodation is very spacious, lots of room for four people, but lacking in privacy for sleeping, changing. Our bed was very comfortable and quite firm, the only other bed was a bed settee. The whole bungalow was clean and the surroundings well kept.

The kitchen had a gas cooker and a bbq with a washer. No kettle and the implements were all in the dining area. lots of crockery. The bathrom was nicely tiled and had a bidet, but some might find the shower cubicle rather a squeeze. We had 2 loungers, an outdoor table for 4 and a clothes airer in the lovely surroundings of trees with huge lemons. We used the beautiful pool [c20m] of the Esperidi Reosrt about 2 mins away. Wifi connection worked well inside and in the garden.

Security is good with 2 locked gates to gain access and all windows have shutters and fly screens. It was a lovely place to stay. Quiet during the day, but with noise from the adjacent sports hall in the evening. We were collected from and returned to the station by Angela, the owner's sister, who is delightful, but speaks no English.

You are about 7 mins walk from the station and local shops and 30 mins into Sorrento on foot. Local transport is good, and cheap but can be very crowded. We found it an excellent base for Pompeii, Capri and Amalfi.
