The Marina Grande is best reached on foot from Piazza della Vittoria from where where a road leads down a gentle slope to sea level- on the left when facing the sea.

The harbour area is interesting with fishermen cleaning and mending nets. There is a small beach and a selection of restaurants.

A nice place to sit and people watch away from the bustle of Sorrento centre. There are good views across the bay towards Naples and Vesuvius.

Well worth the walk.

Nice place with lots of restaurants and a cafe. The beach small, like everywhere in Sorrento, and seemed to be a bit dirty but the water was crystal clear. The views are worth the visit though. Surrounded by old blocks of flats and cliffs. If you want to go swimming I would choose another beach like Lionelli beach or Peter’s beach.

Easy to get there from the old town.

We were fortunate enough to be staying at Hotel Del Mare which is tucked just behind this little fishing port. There are little restaurants lining the port where you can sit & dine on the freshest seafood & enjoy the local wine & just watch the world go by. A relaxing place to be if you don't want the hustle & bustle of Sorrento main town.

We stayed in Marina Piccola and didn't head over to Marina Grande until the last evening of our trip. It's a lovely spot with an easy walk through from the main square in Sorrento. Head over via Via V. Veneto and Via Marina Grande because that's prettier than the alternative.

Were we to go back to Sorrento I'd spend more time here. There's some lovely restaurants to explore and great views.

Good for a stroll and to look what's happening down there. Nice views of the bay, the cliffs and towards the expensive hotels. Some cute cats were down there who kept us busy for a while ;-)
