“Super Hotel ideal Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2014

We spent 6 nights in this hotel on a Shearings Coach Tour and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Hotel is perfectly situated for exploring Sorrento and for visits to Pompeii, Naples and the Amalfi Coast and offers decent accommodation, good food and excellent service from efficient, friendly staff and we would certainly stay here again if we return to Sorrento.

Stayed here 3 nights on an Insight tour. Our room was very comfortable and had a balcony overlooking the pool area. Very central just a few minutes walk to the main square. Decent breakfast. The hotel is right next door to Franco's pizza. We ate their twice. It was the best pizza I have ever tasted.

Stayed here 2 nights on a group tour. Room was average size and clean. We were on the back overlooking the train tracks and station but not noisy. No trouble sleeping. It's a 5-10 minute walk to the city center. Obviously convenient to the train station. Free wi fi in the lobby.

My wife and I have just returned from Italy having spent 8 days in This hotel in Sorrento as a base to visit the area. The hotel is situated on the main road but set back a little and just a short walk from the towns main square, our stay was on a half board basis dinner bed and breakfast. The hotel was clean and well presented, the room (306) was average size but the large bed (two large single beds pushed together) made it look smaller than it really was the bathroom was a good size and had a bath with shower over (the screen allowed water out making the floor wet by the toilet) the air conditioning worked very well we had to turn if up, this room was at the front of the hotel and did not have a balcony but there are no sea views from this hotel although the front does overlook a lemon grove, so we didn't mind this and as the traffic noise is very loud I doubt we would have been sitting out to much the double glazing did provide good sound proofing though, on saying that if you go to the top sun terrace you are able to see the sea in the distance. The food was adequate with breakfast being a continental style buffet and dinner waiter service with a choice of courses. All the staff were pleasant and helpful with a special mention to Giovanni the barman, who was always happy and smiling and nothing seemed to much trouble for him. The town is a very busy tourist destination and has vast amounts of traffic all day into the early morning with youngsters on motor scooters every where and road signs being completely ignored by all the road users so even on a one way street you need to look both ways and keep your eyes open, this traffic also causes not only noise pollution but fumes and grime from exhausts as well. there is some respite from this in the small shopping streets (no vehicles allowed except some scooters) but you trade motor traffic for tourists and these streets are always crowded. This town does make a good location to visit the local attractions, Capri, Amalfi, Vesuvius, Pompeii, Naples etc. But it is not cheap and tipping is expected, we did enjoy this holiday but it was very busy with lots of travelling and walking, some on uneven ground and some on hilly ground so take comfortable walking shoes, it is however not somewhere we would hanker to go back to, and I found Pompeii a bit of a let down but that is probably just me and having seen it on TV having my expectations raised.

Room Tip: some of the rooms to the front have balconies and overlook a lemon grove. otherwise there are no rea...

We stayed here recently on a half board basis. Our room was 312, a small room with a small balcony which overlooked the pool/patio area. The balcony got some sun in the early afternoon. The bathroom was clean with lots of room for toiletries, had a well lit mirror and the smallest shower I have ever been in. The room could've accommodated a much bigger shower had there been no bidet, (never used a bidet, don't know anyone who has!). Breakfast was poor, cereals, ham, cheese, dry bread rolls, pastries and tinned fruit. We did manage to get a cheese omelette on our first morning but on subsequent days were told these were not possible before 8.30am, (which is when breakfast finishes), and the only alternative was scrabbled egg and fatty bacon. Dinner was a slight improvement, edible but reminiscent of school dinners! The dining room itself is without atmosphere. The best feature of the hotel was the bar steward, Giovanni Rapisardo!! He is a true professional, he makes every guest feel special and runs a tidy and efficient bar. He introduced me to the Aperol spritz! From this hotel it is an easy walk into town, there is a supermarket quite close by for supplies of water etc and it is also close to the train station, (which may not be a good thing if your room overlooks it!). Besides the pool area there is also a roof terrace with more sun loungers and a couple of shaded areas. Should we ever return to Sorrento, however, we wouldn't choose to stay here as we would prefer a hotel with a sea view.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms that overlook the train station.

This was our first time in Italy and I have to say that I found the whole experience a tad manic! The room was very basic and the shower was so small that I had to keep turning off the water when soaping as it was that small! Because of it's location it is extreamly noisy, constant traffic, bus, coaches motor bikes and scooters not forgetting sirens but the worst thing of all is that the rear of the hotel overlooks the train tracks and station, I could see the Sorrento station sign whilst lying in bed, dreadful noise - just like staying in a major city.
We only had B&B as we like to try different places and not be tied down to eating at certian times but the breakfast was dreadful, the same thing every day for 2 weeks. Tinned fruit salad, green rolls one morning not good at all.
The sun doesn't get to the pool area until midday and it closes at 18.00 sharp. We found the staff to be the best part of the hotel, especially Giovani who runs the bar.
I would not reccommend this hotel

Room Tip: Make sure you are not at the rear of the hotel as the railway is directly behind

The hotel's location was brilliant, just cross over the road to a lemon plantation and a 5 minute walk to the city centre and supermarket. The rooms weren't the best however, they were tidy and reasonably clean. The staff could have been slightly more polite. The food was OK but not the best, despite this the menu had lots of classical Italian food which was good to see. The hotel's only facilities were the bar and a FREEZING cold swimming pool.(it gave you brain freeze the second you put your head in the water. It was April though). I would reccomend boarding the train (station 1 block away) and riding to Pompeii, Vesuvius,Herculaneum or Rome as these are good alternatives to a day in Sorrento. The night market is a must visit.
