This hotel is centrally located between the Marina's Grande and Piciola in Sottento. It is at the west end of Piazza della Vittoria and the bedrooms at the front of the hotel provide excellent sea views towars Marina Grande. This position is extremely convenient for the connections, attractions and shopping opportunities Sorrento provides, nothing seems to be more than a 10 minute stroll away.

The hotel has its own beach and also has a large swimming pool and pool area with a pool bar for snacks drinks and lunch. Despite the hotel being full when we were there the pool area was never overcrowded.

Rooms are of a good size, exceptionally clean and provide a safe and minibar.

The public areas of the hotel are to a high standard, there was a wide choice of food at breakfast but the range of cooked food was somewhat limited . Each evening sees a happy hour at the bar and light snacks are provided.

The hotel in 2012 at least was booking on a B & B only basis and perhaps for this reason no entertainment was provided in the evening. We felt we had a good holiday here (Sept 2012).

|Just returned from a week staying at the Continental Hotel. Decided on this hotel after reading reviews. What a fi nd, beautiful hotel, fantastic views from our room. The staff went beyond the call of duty and were friendly and very helpful always willing to help with advice on trips. The hotel is in a quiet square with fantastic views only a few minutes walk to the shops a restaurants. Bedroom very comfortable spotlessly clean with a lovely balcony overlooking the bay. Can't praise this hotel enough and look forward to returning in the future.

Room Tip: choose a room with a sea view balcony worth the extra.

We have just stayed for 9 days beginning Sept 2012 at the Continental. We loved it - had a 4th floor room with large terrace and inland mountain view - perfect for quiet drink and if we wanted to see the view of the Bay of Naples, it's just outside the front door. The location, on a quiet square with the amazing view, (wedding parties regularly come for photos with vesuvius as a backdrop), couldn't be better as it is so central - only a minutes stroll to bars, restaurants and shops.
We had a late arrival due to airline strike but had a great welcome from Lucca, our room was immaculately clean with a large comfortable bed, great bathroom with very powerful and always hot shower, lovely waffle towels, clean every day.
Breakfast was fantastic - really friendly and efficient staff always ready to meet and take to table. Great selection of breakfast dishes to suit everyone, great choice of fresh fruits and juices, cereal, ~10 types of bread/rolls plus ~10 different pastries/brioche/croissants, hams, cheeses, fresh tomatoes, and always 3 or 4 different hot items (bacon/ham/sausages/various eggs.) Could not fault it. Ordinary coffee more suited to the hot foamed milk it's served with - espresso more to taste if you prefer strong and black.
The pool is fantastic if you want to swim (sounds obvious but have seen previous criticism that it takes up a lot of the pool area!) which we did. We also really loved that the lift went down through the hotel and through the cliff to Leonelli's Beach.3€ each for the lift then we rented sunbeds, umbrella for the day on the boardwalk on the rocks - rocks and jetty make an enclosed lagoon with steps down for swimming. Day-long service from the beach bar with drinks and sandwiches and pasta dishes. Afternoon fresh doughnuts were brought round - €1.50 each and delicious treat.
It's so easy to get train to Pompeii, Ercolano to see historic sites or Naples for archaeological museum and to see city life. Allow a day for each otherwise you will feel you've not fully experienced. Also took a boat from harbour to Positano, then took bus back......both fabulous journeys and a real experience.
Can't wait to go again and will definitely stay at Continental as haven't seen any other hotel that would have suited better.

Stayed here with the wife in July 2012 for a week. We booked a package deal as that worked out better for us especially regards the tranfers to the hotel. Glad we did in the end as we came across several couples having issues getting to/from the airport. The hotel is very nice and clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. My only critisism is that the hotel was lacking any kind of atmosphere. The pool area was lovely, ample beds and deck chairs. We didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on that. I would recommend this hotel but would warn about the transfer from the airport, it took us 4 hours! Which was in fact longer than our flight.

Fantastic location with a lift from the hotel onto a very pleasant black sand child friendly beach. The family room was a lovely size with a great verandah over the pool.

It has a slightly victorian feel overall-ever so slightly faded but dont let this put you off.
Sorrento is basically 2 long streets-very nice but by the end of a week you have had enough of lemon soaps and teatowels.
Pomepii, Herculaneum+Vesuvius mindblowing-worth a return visit. This is a great location for them all.
The only downside is the dreadful breakfast-stale pastries, processed cheese, no bacon. Go on,weep why dont you.
