“Marvelous View”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

Charming hotel about a 1km walk (uphill) from the center of Sorrento. Room was large and clean, with a nice balcony overlooking Bay of Naples and Mt. Vesuvius. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Had a kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave and pot for boiling water. Breakfast was OK, limited snack menu and bar until 7:00pm...no full -serve restaurant. Could get to be a bit noisy on street side with honking, buses, motorcycles....

Room Tip: Road side rooms can be noisy

We stayed for 5 nights in the Miramare, great location with a beautiful view. The best thing about the hotel was the staff, extremely helpful and friendly. We used them to book resturants, tours and taxis. Massive thanks to the staff for being lovely and arranging everything for us. The hotel is 10 mins downhill to town, its a plesant walk. There is no pavement in one section out side the hotel but it's only a tiny stretch of road, we had no trouble at all. Most tours and some resturants will come and collect you in a car if you ask reception to arrange. I definitely recommend the beautiful Amalfi coach tour organised through reception - the tour guide Carmine was excellent and really made us love the area as much as he did!.
Excellent fresh breakfast which we really enjoyed sitting outside on the terrace with a delicious selection of good quality breads, brioches, jams, fruits etc.
Room decor is maybe a little dated but was exceptionally clean and the bathroom was modern. Wifi worked well in the room.

As listen to the song by Arianna and Pitbull, it reminds me of lovely time we had in Sorrento at the beginning of June' 13. The hotel is ideally and conveniently situated on a hill with most rooms opening to a garden overlooking the bay. The garden rooms have high ceilings so they are not claustrophic, but rather spacious. Our room had a kitchenette hidden in a cupboard. The bathrooms are also good size. However, the rooms need to be refurbished as the colors are dull and drawers got stuck most of the time. In addition, breakfast definitely needs to be enriched. In the summer sitting out on the terrace and enjoying breakfast or having a bottle of wine with friends in the evening is highly recommended. The hotel is within 10-15 minutes' walk to the city with a bus stop almost in front. We preferred to walk as the bus service is not very reliable and the walk downhill offers a lot of spots for taking pictures! Exiting the hotel, guests must be very careful since there is no sidewalk and they have to keep to the very right until they can cross the street. The people at the reception were very helpful in getting cabs and providing necessary information.

Room Tip: A garden room with a view definitely!

Our family of 4 were easily accommodated in the one large room. The room and bathroom were spotless but the colour scheme of bright olive green is a little dated. The views are spectacular, ours was of the ocean and Mt Vesuvius. The patio overlooked the road so it was a little noisy. Yes the hotel is on a blind corner so caution is advised when crossing the road, especially at night. The hotel is situated high on a slope but it is only a fifteen minute walk to town centre. Wi fi is tempremental. Easily accessible in the passages outside the door but often not working in the rooms. (I often met other guests in the hallway with ipad and phones experiencing the same difficulty.)The pool is small but very welcome in the middle of summer as beaches nearby require you to pay for entrance or sun beds. Giovanni and her staff are very welcoming and happy to recommend restaurants and places of interest. Breakfast consisted of pastries, fruit, yoghurt- nothing really exciting. We had to leave for a tour before breakfast one morning and were provided with breakfast packs( croissant, yoghurt and juice) to take away upon request. You can book tours through hotel but we booked through agency in the main square and managed to get a discount for the children. Overall a pleasant stay in a beautiful spot in Italy.

The one bedroom plus living room garden apartments are lovely. We were room 403 which has spectacular views. It is so nice to be able to sit out on your patio drinking wine watching the sunset over Sorrento. The walk into town and back is easy, we did it a couple of times a day. We ate mostly in Marina Grande area, there are some lovely, not too expensive, restaurants down there where lots of the customers are Italian. We heard no noise from our neighbours and when the shutters are closed the rooms are very dark so you sleep like a log. Air con worked fine, kitchen is small and there were no knives and forks but we only used to it keep wine and cheese in the fridge. They give you plenty of towels and toiletries and house cleaning comes everyday, although sometimes too early in the morning for us. We also had some kittens who popped over regularly for ham and cheese. Staff were friendly and helpful, photo copying bus time tables for us. The boat to Capri costs between 28 - 35 euro per person return depending on times and companies.

Room Tip: Garden one bedroom apartment (403 - 405) are spacious and quiet with views you never tire of.

Loved our stay here. The walk into Sorrento centre is only 5-10 minutes down a slight incline. The hotel entrance is on a bad corner as many have stated but this didn't give us any trouble even with the 2 children. . . Just stay on the hotel side of the road until you reach the crossing and cross to the footpath.
The room was nice for 4 of us and had a small terrace and garden with one of the best views ever, Vesuvius across the water, Sorrento to the right with its picturesque ports and the clear sea with the boats sailing across. Breakfast was included and very nice, snacks were available in the afternoon but no food in the evening. The excellent staff will help with anything and are really friendly. . We ordered a take away from reception on one tired night, bought wine from the nearby store and enjoyed the view with our meal.
I would go back here tomorrow!

Views incredible. Service was very good. Rooms "ok". Pool smaller than it looks on pics and can only sit- sunbeds on different levels. The walk to town was a highlight and worth it every day. The seaview on one side and the crazy drivers on the other.
