We stayed at Miramare for a couple of days with my husband and another couple.

Relaxed hotel!

Breakfast was substantial and you will have plenty of the typical Italian breakfast choices. (Croissants, cheese, ham, yogurt). Coffee was just okay.

The rooms were clean, the staff were helpful in getting us cabs and they were just helpful overall.

Just dont rely on timeliness for the cabs/car rentals. They have their own times and their schedules and they dance to their own drum!

We were with our friends who flew in from Milan and it did help that they spoke italian, we were able to ask for a locals dinner spot

Emilias! AMAZING! and soooo affordable! have the Pacheri Pasta - local to the region.

We stayed here because of so many good reports and we were not disappointed. The hotel is very clean, welcoming and great view. We stayed in the family room with balcony as this was offered as an alternative to the two bedroom that we had booked. So glad we stayed in the room with the balcony as it was well used with the home cooked meas overlooking the view. The kitchenette is small but we coped. Thank goodness my husband's tall as he could reach the facilities. The bathroom is large and good just the shower water ran a little off the bath and went on the floor but enough towels to deal with. The staff were lovely great with advice and more than happy to assist with arrangements. The kids loved the pool and so nice to cool down and appreciate the view. Thanks for making our stay perfect.

Room Tip: Get the room with the balcony

We have just come back from a two week excellent holiday, in early June at the Miramare. We had a spacious room, with a fantastic view from our balcony of the bay of Naples and Vesuvius. Our room was spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the hotel. Breakfast was enjoyed outside on the terrace, with another breathtaking view of Sorrento. Our stay was made even more enjoyable as the staff were all very helpful and friendly.Especially Franco and Gabrielle who helped book all our excursions. The two trips she recommended for the Amalfi coast drive and the speed boat trip to Capri were outstanding. If you get chance, visit the small harbour beach where you will find Emilias fish restaurant, a lovely setting to watch the sun go down. A little bit of a walk but well worth it. As other guests have commented the swimming pool is small. The hotel is also situated on a tight bend with no pavement, so its important to hold hands with your partner before making that dash across, as the road can be quite busy.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a sea view.

My wife and I stayed at Miramare for 8 nights in early May 2013. After a long transatlantic flight we wanted to relax at a hotel with a sea view to get over jet lag. Sorrento was a good choice and Miramare met all our expectations. We had a large room with a huge balcony with a view over the Bay of Naples to Vesuvius. What a view. There appears to be a resident seagull who claimed our balcony and got away with meat and cheese we were enjoying on the balcony. That is a story we will be telling for some time. While we wanted a kitchenette so we could self cater breakfast the hotel had a good breakfast included in the room price so we really only used the kitchen to keep wine and snacks handy.
Just a couple of comments on the hotel location, it is about a 15 minute walk up a long gently sloping road with very narrow sidewalks. While it was a fairly easy walk there were lots of people using the sidewalk and there is only enough room for two people to walk side by side. That meant that someone had to be brave and step off the sidewalk onto the road to pass which can be an adventure since there is lots of busy traffic passing by. The main hotel entrance is on a blind curve with no sidewalk so you have to gather your courage and walk up the road about 50 meters to the pedestrian crosswalk to get over to the sidewalk. Despite all we have heard of Italian drivers they were very disciplined at stopping at the crosswalks.
Later on in our trip we met a British couple at our hotel in Rhodes Greece who had also stayed at Mirimare just the week before we did. They too enjoyed their stay at Miramare.

Room Tip: As far as I copuld tell all the rooms had a good view over the bay of Naples

Pleasant stay, short distance to centre but very challenging crossing the busy road that this Hotel is situated on. The room was great with lovely views, handy fridge for your drinks... A little old fashioned , the walls are bright green, not very soothing to the eye first thing in the morning. If you are needing a safe for laptop , cameras etc, they only have one in the room to fit passport. Breakfast was the same everyday and definately no hot breakfast. Staff helpful and rooms always clean...By South African standards this Hotel would only get a 2 star because of its decor !!

Room Tip: Rooms on the third floor have the best views and less noise from busy road

The service was impeccable from start to end. The receptionists were very helpful and accommodating troughout our stay. For example they helped us print out our boarding passes when we had to leave without charge.
The rooms were great and very spacious. The view from the balcony was also beautiful. They changed our sheets every day while we were away and gave us clean towels.
All in all we were very satisfied with our stay and we give highest recommendations.

Kindest regards from Denmark

This was a nice hotel - I wasn't expecting much so wasn't that disappointed. We were booked into a superior studio but were given a one bedroom apartment instead. The apartment was very small, and I had been looking forward to the space of the studio. The fridge and kettle provided were very handy and the view from the little patio stunning. Our apartment was just above the pool rather than in the main hotel. Air con worked v well, though not really needed as the sun never really reached the room itself. The TV has no English channels at all, and the Wi-Fi, though free, didn't reach as far as the rooms. Good shower, nice bathroom, lots of hot water. The décor is less shabby chic than shabby - dated and quite stained. Smelled a bit musty. Very comfy beds.

My main problem with this hotel was the sunbathing experience. There were no umbrellas round the pool or the sun terrace, so there is no shade at all unless you want to sit at the bar. Also the chairs around the pool do not lie flat, so in order to lie down you need to go to the terrace, but there is no pool up there. Since I like to sun bathe and my friend wanted shade there was no compromise. You can go to the little pebbly beach via the hotel opposite, but that will cost you 10 euros each, more if you want an umbrella.

The staff were very helpful, couldn't fault them, the breakfast was fresh and perfectly adequate. Watch out for the pesky seagulls who will have your breakfast the minute you move from your seat!

Another problem I had was that if you have a late check out, there are no facilities for showering and changing before leaving for your flight.

We only stayed 4 nights, but I wouldn't want to stay there for 2 weeks, especially without the opportunity for shade in the sun.

All in all, a good base to get around Sorrento. It's a pricey place, expect to pay a lot for drinks and food.
