Just returned from a great holiday in Sorrento, stayed at this little gem of a hotel. It's ideally situated, just a short walk to PiazzaTasso and the older part of town with it's warren of narrow streets and shops.
Our room was basic but spotlessly clean, fresh towels everyday (a bit unnecessary for me, think of the environment!!) but it's what they do. Everyone was so helpful, from reception to dining room, courteous and polite staff made it a great stay.
The food is 3* but with plenty of choice you won't go hungry, the servers were polite and helpful and drinks prices in the restaurant were very reasonable.
The 14 euro tourist tax mentioned in another review is payable at all hotels in Italy, it's 7 euros per person per stay, we paid 7 euros each on our 11 night stay.
The roof terrace is a little neglected and unloved! but the views are fantastic.
The bar and lounge area won't make you want to stay in for a drink, it's a little like a doctors waiting room... no atmosphere, but we went out for a stroll and a drink at night.
All in all a great stay at the La Meridiana, and yes I would stay there again.

Just a note to The Manager, Roberta Pizzella, please come into the 21st century!!! WiFi is a must these days, it's a great way to stay in touch with friends and family.

We have recently returned from a great holiday in Sorrento staying at this hotel. is rated at 3 star but must surely only just miss out on the 4th star. The staff were friendly and the hotel was accurately described and perfect for a party who only used it to eat and sleep in being out during the day. Food was good especially that with an Italian bias and plenty of it. No need to look for snacks elsewhere! Would recommend the hotel to anyone and have already booked to return in June 2014 with friends, Also reccommend the Spannaker in the town centre as the perfect complement to the hotel in the evenings. Gin and tonics come in half pint glasses and served with a genuine smile.

Spotlessly clean hotel, centrally located within walking distance of main attractions in Sorrento. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We paid extra for a balcony and had a fantastic view of Vesuvius and the sea - well worth the money. There's a roof terrace with loungers, tables and chairs and a canopy to stay out of the sun if you prefer. Breakfast was tasty with cereal, eggs, fruit juice, tea, coffee, toast, croissants, crackers, cheese, ham, jam, yogurt, fruit and cake! There was a bit of noise from the traffic including the bin men who empty the bins during the night but we'd stay here again.

stayed for 1 week that was enough the room we had was dark and unpleasent but clean ,,the evening meals were pretty good but if you sent anything back the cook would stand glaring at your table from the kitchen door,,,breakfast was very basic ,,,,the down stairs lounge is pathetic as is the bar ,,,,,,if you want air conditioning it will cost you 10 euro per day and is switched off by reception between 9am and 4pm ,,the room was clean as was the shower room , the shower had a mind of its own often down to a drip only coming out,,,the roof terrace has nice veiws when you can get outside as they seem to lock it out off use quite often ,,,staff in general are friendly and polite,,,I think 3 stars is pushing it a bit ,,i think holiday operaters should make people aware of extra costs up front as 70 euro for a/c and another 14 euro for so called sorrento tax is a joke ,,no pool but you can use next doors for another 20 euro a day

Room Tip: try another hotel

We are truly sorry you did not enjoy your stay, but you reserved through a tour operator, and hence booked a room with window and not balcony. Standard rooms are, in any case, bright and spacious. We are glad to read you enjoyed evening meals, and are honestly surprised of your remark, as the restaurant back office is simply looking for the service to be as smooth as possible.
It is well specified in the brochure that air conditioning is an extra charge, and on arrival date we also clarify that it functions from 2 pm to 10 am of the following day, with temperature regulated according to outside weather conditions.
In addition, there is no mention of a pool in the hotel description, and we are also unaware of the possibility to use the one next door, which belongs to another hotel, for 20 euros.
We are also sorry that you were not able to exploit the roof terrace, but you have probably stayed at our hotel during the rainiest week of this summer, hence the terrace was closed for security reasons.
Finally, the 14 euro tourist tax is now mandatory by law almost anywhere in Italy and in some European Countries.
Best regards
The Manager

just come back from a weeks stay at this hotel and the only good thing I can say about it is that it was clean ... we were in a room at side of hotel over looking lemon grove think very carefully if you want a quiet stay as they close the main streets off in the night and traffic is diverted past the hotel very noisy. Food very basic and air con is charged at 10 euros a night Sorrento is beautiful and will go back there but will not stay in this hotel

Good evening. It seems surprising to us that you found the hotel noisy, as, if we are not mistaken, you were staying on the fourth floor. As the hotel enjoys such a central location, it is unlikely for it to be as quiet as expected by you.
Regarding the food, our hotel is a friendly family-owned, three-star facility, as specified on brochures, but always open to meeting customer requests, coherently with our target.

I have recently come back from a holiday in Sorrento staying at La Meridiana. It was categorised as 3 star by Thomson's holiday's but I thought it was better than other 3 stars I have been in. Our room was big as was the bathroom, there was a lift to all floors. I did not have tea and coffee facilities but it did not make that much of a difference. Our breakfast was continental as you would expect but lots on offer. We had half board which saved on eating out, we sat at the same table for our meals breakfast and evening meal, we were allocated our table by the head waiter Antonio who was very accommodating.

On arrival we had a warm welcome, the receptionist spoke excellent English in fact the majority of hotel staff including housekeeping spoke good understandable English. The hotel was very near the centre of the main town situated near the lemon grove gardens. I will go back to this hotel again but it;s worth mentioning that air-conditioning was an extra cost but it was needed even though it was 10 euros a night.. Truly I hope it's not to long beforeI can return there.

Room Tip: budget for air conditioning
