We spent a week at this hotel.
Ideal central location as everything is in within easy walking distance.
Make sure you check out your room location.
My friend was allocated a rear room, supposedly a double but it was small, cramped with two single beds and little room to move in, a horrid view over the back yard After one night we asked for a room change which was done immediately and she had a lovely front room overlooking the street.
My room was also at the front of the building with a small balcony which was good to stand / sit on and watch the world go by. The double glazing / shutter doors were sufficient to keep out the noise at night.
Everything was clean, bathroom had recently been re-furbished, beautifully tiled, towels thick and fluffy plus the usual free toiletries.
Breakfast was typical continental and offered a wide choice.
Female staff on the front desk were very sour faced and not always helpful, on arrival we were not made to feel welcome by them, it seemed as if it was more of a chore to check us in.
HOWEVER the male front desk staff went out of their way to be helpful and were delightful.

The only down side of this hotel is lack of outside space to sit and relax in - but this was not a problem as we explored Sorrento and found public gardens with fabulous views over to Vesuvius in which to sit and read or watch the world go by over a coffee.
Also no restaurant but not needed as Sorrento has a host of excellent restaurants - avoid Aurora light which is closest - very expensive and not good value for money. Explore the back streets and you will find many excellent places to eat.

Room Tip: Double rooms at the rear are small and cramped.

Our room was small but attractively decorated. Bathroom was drop dead gorgeous - with a turquoise tile floor and walls covered with white, blue and turquoise designs. Breakfast was excellent and very generous.
What we did not like: 1. Noise from the street at night. Even though I had asked for a quiet room, we got a room overlooking the street. All night long I felt vibrations and heard noise from trucks and buses and cars, despite the double paned windows.
2. Front desk personnel (the women) were unpleasant. (the one man, Mario, was very pleasant). One woman was very friendly and helpful until we told her we did not want the tours she was hawking. The other woman had a "sour puss" and made us leave our key at front desk despite the fact that the safe key was attached to it.

Room Tip: Do not accept a room at the front - only in the back.

We stayed here as part of a package with Vogayges Jules Verne. We chose this particular hotel as it offered a more 'Italian' experience as opposed to larger, more generic hotels. Its great advantage is its central location, with all the wonderful restaurants, shops and the train station very close by. However, this does have a drawback. If you plan to go in May (ie before the air-conditioning is switched on) you will be well advised to ask for a room at the back. The noise from traffic and revellers until the wee small hours is very loud indeed so, to keep your room cool, you need to keep the windows open! Our room (terrace) was very comfortable with ample storage. Spotlessly clean, elegant bathroom with lovely large towels, hairdryer and a little basket containing shower gel, etc. Breakfast is served from 7.30am until about 10.00 and is typical continental with croissants, bread rolls, cold meats, cheese etc. There was alway plenty and was topped up regularly. I particularly liked the special 'egg-boiler' with little egg baskets for you to boil your own egg, just the way you like it. Genius! The hotel staff were unobtrusive and polite but as we had a truly amazing rep from VJV, we didn't need to ask the staff for anything, so I can't comment further. In conclusion, this is a very good, comfortable hotel but beware the noise.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, a room at the back of the hotel is MUCH quieter.

We were "overbooked" and taken to a nearby "better" hotel where we were given a tiny room in the basement. When we asked reception at both hotels were were dismissed. So beware of overbooking by this hotel-they will cast you aside without any regard!
Sad to say as we have been to Italy multiple, multiple times with great results at other hotels-stay with what you know!

Room Tip: Go elsewhere, not worth the hassle!!

We enjoyed the hospitality, the breakfast and the in-room facilities. We did not enjoy being awoken early each morning by the famous cockerel. The hotel is ideally situated for strolling around Sorrento, for the train station and for access to many fine restaurants. We particularly liked Da Gigino for our evening meals and the Foreigners Club for lunch. Sorrento itself is a great base for Pompeii & Herculaneum, the Amalfi Coast, the Sorrento peninsula and (if you can afford the fare) Capri. We managed all these in a week's memorable stay.

Stayed here June2012 with Voyages Jules Verne. The rooms were OK but the air con was controlled by reception and they kept switching it off. As the temp outside was 30 something we could not sleep, and even when the air con was on you could not control the temperature from the room and it was just unbearably hot.
The breakfast was not good- coffee from a machine etc. Things ran out and the staff were in the back.
The room they show on the JV site is one of only 2 rooms on the top floor with balconies.Friends with us had one of these rooms which was quite nice but all the rest were average.
The location is good (glad to hear the cockerel has been eaten) and most of the staff were charming.
I would stay at the Anchi Muros Hotel if i went again

Stayed here for 5 nights with my partner whilst touring the Amalfi coast. The hotel is VERY centrally located (right in the centre of town by all the shops and restaurants) and is just by the main car park (if you rent a car - be warned, parking around there is NOT cheap). It is around a 5 minute walk to the local rail station that will take you to Pompeii and Herculaneum (if you do decide to hire a car its better to take the train than your car as I didn't feel it was safe). Its also handy to get to the port where you can get a ferry to Capri.
The staff were friendly, but the hotel room had clearly seen better days and could do with a re-fit. However, we gt a room with a lovely balcony from which (if we turned sideways) we could see the sea. For those that like hot drinks in their room, the room doesn't come with a kettle, so pack a travel kettle.
The breakfasts were nothing exceptional but were perfectly adequate - I got a cup of coffee and a pastry in the morning so I was happy.
We got a good deal with this hotel and due to the very central location would be minded to return. There are nicer hotels in Sorrento with better views, but to be honest, we spent most of our time out and about exploring so what more could you want?

Room Tip: I would really recommend the Buffalita restaurant - it was the best meal we had in Italy. Also, on...
