WHAT I LIKED:-
- Very clean hotel;
- Clean laundry;
- Comfortable terrace with nice views;
- Hotel is extremely close to Piazza Tasso and the main places of interest in Sorrento!!
- Comfortable beds and pillows;
- Efficient and friendly staff.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:-
- There was a good selection of food during breakfast but I had to buy some good quality cereal because the cereal they had wasn't any good and some fresh fruit because there wasn't any during breakfast;
- The bathroom fittings are very old and need to be replaced and the shower head is fixed to the wall so this might be a bit impractical for families with young children;
- Internet is only available in the lobby; i tried once but it wasn't working;
- No fridge in the rooms; this doesn't effect me much but I know people like my husband who expect this.

General comments:-
- I didn't use the pool facilities so I cannot really comment on this but the pool looks nice looks nice;
- The hotel doesn't serve dinner in the hotel but guests are sent to a restaurant next door -it serves excellent food!

Pretty much what I would expect from an Italian 4 Star. I was not all that impressed with the continental breakfast but when I outlined to my mother what was available she thought it sounded good. Meats, cheese, yoghurt, a variety of breads, pastries, cereals, fruit juices...I reckon include some fresh fruit along with the tinned (which was actually OK). Dinner was in the restaurant next door where hotel guests were offered a set menu which had four choices for each course. Location was perfect, couple of minutes from main square, within walking distance of both Marina Grande, Marina Piccola and the Circumvesvianna Railway Station. Drinks prices very reasonable compared to local area (bottle of Peroni 3 Euros, glass of wine 5 Euros, cocktails around 6-7 Euros) Guys in bar and pool very friendly.

Room Tip: Apparently rooms at front on higher floors get a good view of Bay of Naples

Just returned from a week in this supposedly 4* `hotel`, though how they got this star rating remains a mystery to all those fellow suffering guests we spoke to. Having previously holidayed in Sorrento at a 3* hotel, this one was nowhere near the 3* in terms of cleanliness, service, breakfast and general helpfulness. Dispute over our room booking meant we had to pay extra - which was totally wrong and the manager was very unpleasant. The standard of this hotel leaves a lot to be desired and we would not recommend it to our worst enemies. Shame as the location is excellent and Sorrento is wonderful. Check out the fire escape as it is unusable and apparently has been for two years. The pool has tiles missing around the water line and is filthy in these crevaces and a definite health hazard - the lift takes a maximum of two people and their cases at a squeeze - one lift - five floors. Very noisy at night and remember to take plenty of Euros as you pay for Air Con, Sun loungers, pool towels and anything else they can think of. Be warned USE THIS ESTABLISHMENT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!

Room Tip: Take ear plugs, ant powder and plenty of Euros to grease the palms.

Just returned from our second time at this hotel. On comparison, you would think it was a totally different hotel to last year. Down hill is a phrase very apt. Was booked half board through Thomas Cook. Upon arrival, we were handed a scrappy piece of paper from reception advising us that we couldn't have our meals there, and that we would have to go down the road to a resturant for our meals!! Breakfast was totally different too. Last year, we enjoyed an array of choices for breakfast, continental, english, hot and cold....but this time, there was no choice. It was cold, fatty meats with bread or hard boiled eggs! My main nark about the strange meal arrangements was that upon entering the 'resturant' for our meal down the road, we had to tell them our room number and details - surely this is a security breach? This enabled people not associated with our hotel to have knowledge of when our room was vacant. The state of the hotel seems to be uncared for. Our lock on the door actually fell off on to the floor when i closed the door.

After speaking to hotel staff, apparently 2 brothers own the hotel and they are in dispute as to how the hotel should be run. Well if this is anything to go by, they ought to worry as it's being run into the ground.

Real shame as we were expecting good things like last year.

The location is spot on and the surrounding area is fab, just a shame the hotel has been let go.

We loved it.
The location is perfect, just off the main square. The price was very good for Sorrento at £100 per night for 3 of us with breakfast included.
Beautiful views of the bay and Vesuvius from the balcony. Nice breakfast with excellent coffee and a lovely pool surrounded by lemon trees.
I suppose it could do with an external paint job - apart from that it is pretty good and such good value for the view and location

We have stopped in Sorrento 4 times now in differant hotels, which have been very good. First time in sorrento was ten years ago and we stayed at Carlton Hotel and did not have any complaints with the hotel. So this year we thought lets go back to the Carlton, what a big mistake, its a dump, we even had ants in the bedroom and bathroom. please do not go to this hotel. All the bad reviews are correct.

My husband and I recently spent 16 nights at this hotel, and had a wonderful time. I spent a long time choosing our hotel, as we wanted a central but quiet location, with a good sized pool and nice garden. I read several negative comments about breakfast, charges for sun loungers and shabby decor, but as the hotel met the main criteria we were looking for, went ahead with booking. As it was a good deal, we opted for the half board option, which as vegetarians we didn't expect to be anything special, but the dinners at the Restaurant Tasso were imaginative and varied, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Yes its true that the outside of the hotel needs smartening up, and the en suite is tiny, but the room was spotless, towels smelt of lemons and were changed daily and the bedding crisp and white and changed regularly. We enjoyed the variety at breakfast with friendly staff, especially the nut bread, though not much impressed with tinned fruit.The set menu at dinner was excellent, and on our last night, which was our wedding anniversary, the staff brought us a little cake with a candle in and sang to us! It was always possible to have a starter as an alternative main course. We had read that there was a charge for the loungers and also a city tax, so weren't put out by this as other reviewers have been. The pool was cleaned daily and the patio areas all swept and washed. We enjoyed the terrace and gardens, and the pool was warm and real treat. The location of this hotel is perfect, close to the Piazza Tasso and the old town and wonderful for the nightly "passagiata" round town after dinner. We visited Naples, Herculaneum, Pompei, Positano, Amalfi and Ravello, Capri and Mt Vesuvius, all of which exceeded our expectations. The scenery is stunning and the area full of history. We did all the outings on public transport rather than organised trips, other than a comfortable coach trip to Amalfi rather than crowded public bus. We had a busy day then a day wandering round Sorrento and relaxing by the pool, and all in all, had the best holiday ever!!

Room Tip: We had a room at the back with balcony overlooking the pool and gardens, quiet but not a sea view. N...
