Left Rome after staying in a fabulous 2 star Pensione, endured over 4 hours worth of travel from Rome to Naples, then Naples to Sorrento. It was hot, squashed and felt like cattle trucks off to the abattoir...
Finally arrived at Hotel Capri.. Reception, the bar and the restaurant was totally white and lacked any colour, imagination and welcoming energies...there's a couple of nice girls on reception and a friendly fellow on at night, one of the receptionists has no customer service skills at all. The room was the size of a shoebox and in Sorrento's 30 degree or more heat and considering it was a 3 star hotel there was no fridge in the room which got my back up straight away. On the more positive side, there was air conditioning.. The room offers one lousy power point to charge your phone or camera etc..We found long black hairs in our shower(which I could only just turn around in) and also the basin... The TV was smaller than an old laptop screen... Breakfast is included in your room rate, it was ok if you like stale cereal, stale bread with what seemed like powdered scrambled egg or omelette. Oh and to top it off, lovely reconstituted fruit drink and cappuccino's out of machines... Hello!!! We're in Italy for goodness sake, and I know Italians are proud of their coffee... The pool is quite lovely with a nice young girl there to get you drinks, nibbles & towels! such a shame and such a waste, when in the middle of a beautiful italian summer they start packing
the pool up at 6pm but She was the nicest staff member there apart
from a friendly professional tall
brunette lady in Reception...finally on checkout after staying 5 nights and having to pay for pool towels and a safe key in our room (around €500) the receptionist found it appropriate to stand there talking to I guessed one of the housekeeping staff for over 5 minutes without even acknowledging us.. I had to interupt her quite rudely to get a response and once we'd paid, I even had to ask for an itemized bill.. Unfortunately the HotelCapri lacks
any atmosphere or charm, but is an excellent location in the heart of Sorrento and very close to the station. It has a 3 star rating. I give
it one star...

Hotel is situated near to the Circumvesuvia railway so great for access to all the historical sites related to Vesuvius. The hotel has had a recent refurb of the entrance lobby, reception and bar plus the dining room, which are all light and airy and mainly white.
The rooms are a little on the small side, but big enough as you aren't going to spend ages in them. The bathrooms are quite adequate and not small as I have seen written in other reviews ( we have had one half the size at a hotel on Malta).
The outside area round the pool, which is small, and on the terrace grassed area is really pleasant and the pool area gets sun all day. There are more than enough sun-loungers and deck-chairs around the pool. Drinks are however on the expensive side.
The one thing that could be improved on is the food. I don't consider myself to be a fussy eater, but the food at dinner is odd. It's edible, but not what you expect to be served in an hotel. I think the main problem is that it is served directly to the table and not from a buffet style servery where you can see before you choose. Breakfast is fine. The restaurant staff are helpful and pleasant.
Most of the staff we had any dealings with were helpful, but some more pleasant than others.

Room Tip: Rooms at front quiet so long as window closed and using air-con.

stayed here recently.. The location is great not far from the main square.. When u enter the hotel lobby it has bn recently decorated and looks fab.. When you get to the rooms they are really small.. The bathroom is tiny.. and barely had enough room to move.. The aircon got a bit too much at night so if you do stay here ask them to turn it off at night.. They could have more facilities in the room like maybe a fridge.. If you can ask for a room over looking the pool its much nicer.. They also have rooms near the street which are very noisy.. Staff were ok.. Food in the hotel didn't like at all.. I would recommend hotel for the location, loved my stay in Sorrento..

On the second day of our holiday at the Hotel Capri a 50 Euro note was stolen from our hotel room during the day. Upon reporting this to the hotel manager I was shocked to note the response. The tone was rude and aggressive and not at all helped by an incumbent poor grasp of the English language.

I knew there was no way of pursuing the money but simply wanted to inform the management of the problem. Their stance was to imply that I was lying and no such thing could possibly occur in their establishment. Hotel staff were quite impolite in the days following this incident, however, did suspiciously become more amenable on our last day. I have never experienced such brash and intolerable customer service.

stayed here for 1 week im just back, had a great holiday,Hotel is in excellent location only a few mins walk from heart of things in Sorrento. We had a room on 2nd floor facing the rd,try and get a 'pool view' if u can,we asked but they could not accomadate us-hotel was full.We were half board, food isnt amazing but its adequate. The staff in restaurant are millitary in the way they run it,always cleaning, which is great, and v helpful.Breakfast was just right for me, fresh bread, rolls, cereal, cheese etc..it runs out quickly and not really replenished so dont leave it too late to go down in morning.Staff organised an 'italian' nite buffet 1 nite, they went to great effort and it was really appreciated..staff at the pool can be abit in your face, not allowing you to drink water from your 'own' bottle, and only wanting you to drink their water, its abit much if you are sitting at the pool all day to be expected to fork out for bottled water all day! overall, we got a great deal on hotel and half board so was great value...any hotel in around the city will be 'noisey' due to traffic, but you do have benefit of strolling up to shops, market, restaurants etc..go for it you wont be disappointed, location is everything in Sorrento..hotel has just been renovated so its lovely and fresh, workers were also just working on new garden at the back and constantly cleaning everywhere..
things to do in Sorrento (1)do Amalfi Blue Boat Tour cost €35 (2)go to Ulsysse day spa,use of facilities, thermal pools etc €25,or half day package with massage €65-its amazing (3)visit the market-think on Mondays

Room Tip: room facing the pool.

Stayed here last week with our 1 year old son. Location is fantastic. It can be loud with all the traffic, but I think all of Sorrento is probably like that.We were given a pool view room with lovely little balcony.Staff could not do enough for us.Food was good, new lobby is beautiful.Would love to go back after they decorate the bedrooms this winter.

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the pool
