Thos hotel is just a gem. It ticks all the boxes: exquisite decoration, grand rooms, personalised service and great location (at a price, but worth every penny).

We arrived earlier than expected and we were allowed into the room, which was very convenient.

Paola, the owner, was always around and made you feel very welcome.

The location is just perfect: just off the lift that takes you from the port to the town centre, just opposite a beautiful church and only a few minutes walk from all the action (restaurants & shops).

The rooms have got names (ours was 'Passion') and was stunning. The bathroom was huge and had a nice jacuzzi (a classy marble one, nothing tacky in this place!)

The Palazzo is stunning and the decoration is über chic. If anything that was the only drawback for us (travelling with young children) as probably not the most child friendly place; by no means because you felt they were not welcome (no one was anything but welcoming with them), but rather as you might be a bit stressed out they might break any of the beautiful pieces in display (which would be a pitty, not to mention expensive!) So maybe more an adult oriented place than a family place, but as long as your kids behave (not always easy!)you should be fine.

Breakfast was ok, though I was probably expecting something a bit grander. There wasn't anything wrong either, but just not in keeping with the wow factor that the hotel provided elsewhere.

A truly memorable stay, a highlight on anyone's trip.

We only stayed one and half days in Sorrento mid June, but our hotel was wonderful. A well appointed small hotel in the middle of Sorrento. The entrance to the hotel extremely picturesque. We were greated by the owner and we instantly clicked. The hotel has recently opened an excellent restaurant where attention to detail and food would certainly compete with many upmarket establishments. This is a family owned hotel clean and very homely well worth the stay.

Room Tip: All Rooms are great as there are only five rooms expertly appointed

In the labyrinth of travel choices, how lucky to have found a hotel that is so satisfying in every way that it leaves you with an enchanting impression that will last a lifetime. Yes, I said "enchanting". Here's why :
- The location is perfect : surrounded by quality shops (right across from a marquetry workshop) , restaurants of all kinds/budgets, near the San Francesco church, and a few steps from the stairs/elevator down to the bay.
- The hotel is as beautiful as it is comfortable : an old palazzo, beautifully preserved, with just the right balance of modern comforts. The decor is elegant and tasteful. The beds are like sleeping on clouds. The marble bath is luxuriously appointed. (The kids asked me to mention that they particularly appreciated the jacuzzi tub.)
- The breakfast was delicious, varied and beautifully presented, which makes waking up a joy - this is important for me, a non-morning person.

Most importantly, I would like to applaud the warm welcome we received from Paola, who made our stay so special : she recommended the perfect restaurant for dinner, resolved our parking challenges, and answered all our questions. In short, she so efficiently anticipated our needs it was as if she could read our minds. It is rare to meet an innkeeper/concièrge/business person who possesses the intuition, professionalism and warmth of Paola.
Many thanks for the magical travel experience, Paola.
We hope to return one day

We booked a table at the restaurant for the two of us on our second evening in Sorrento, and this was a real treat.

The restaurant hasn't been open long, but expect this to start getting some attention as more people find out about it.

It's not cheap-you pay for fine-dining. But as it's new, and on the up, it's not crazy prices-our 4 course meal with wine and service was approx €140-the experience was worth that and more.

The setting is great (on a balcony outside on the first floor) and perfect for special occasions.

For most this wouldn't be every day dining, but if you had one night in Sorrento, and like being looked after with amazing service and top food, eat here.

Wedding reception - Absolute Italian dream. Amazing!
Long review, if you don't want to read it all, trust me - book your wedding reception here.

This review is a follow up from our previous review about 1 year ago. On that occasion we visited Palazzo Marziale briefly whilst scouting for wedding reception venues and booked this one. We must admit that we took a gamble.

We relied upon the kindness and warmth shown by the owner Paola. Since that day of booking the Palazzo, we had an extremely busy year planning the wedding and organising everything that goes with it.
Wedding stress is inevitable however Paola has guided us through the experience with expert assistance. We called her on several occasions and in the final few weeks she was a great listening ear and stress reliever despite the language barrier.
Upon our arrival in Sorrento we visited Paola and she introduced us to the team who would be assisting us on our big day, we had a meeting about the structure and options for the wedding day, and were highly impressed with all the staffs knowledge of our wedding, they all remembered our names and made the build up very personal.

The day went without a hitch!!! Paola organised the chairs from her venue to use in the Cloister and the bridal party spent the morning getting ready in one of the amazing rooms.
Immediately after the ceremony at the Cloister di San Francesco we walked the mere 20 - 30 metres into Palazzo Marziale with its grand double wooden doors and our 40 guests awaiting with the mandolin and guitar playing.
We had our aperitif whilst photos and music played.
We sat down for a 4 course dinner which was
Brushchetta
Cannelloni
SeaBass
Chocolate fondant
All of these courses were beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. Anyone who has ever been to Sorrento knows that they take an immense amount of pride in their food quality and their service. Palazzo Marziale is no exception to this statement.

Once we had eaten and the dreaded speeches were complete, we danced the night away with our 40 guests, the music was played by a band called Sombras music which we found on YouTube.

Several small things made our wedding special, most importantly Paola, who headed an extremely competent team, Ivan who was the manager kept us up to date throughout the evening with the itinerary and options for the bar, Ivan's approach was extremely subtle with nothing being too much trouble.
We partied until about midnight when all our guests went home, we then stayed at the Palazzo for the evening, which was the perfect end to a perfect day.

If you are thinking about booking this venue then don't think twice, I will not reveal the cost but guarantee it will be half the price you would pay in the UK with better food, service and obviously weather.

Paola and your team thanks again.

We did not stay at the Palazzo Marziale, but ate in the restaurant, following a recommendation from the concierge at our hotel. The service was first rate, prompt and attentive without being intrusive. The menu offered a good selection of classic dishes with the emphasis on local specialities. The food was beautifully prepared and well-presented. I would recommend the restaurant at Palazzo Marziale without hesitation.

We were referred to this hotel by another in Sorrento that we found on TripAdvisors that was full. It was a little hard to find, but if you are not familiar with the town, understandable. we love it. Our room is also overlooking the church where we have seen two weddings in 24hours! The rooms have lovely names like Joy, Passion, Love, and we are in Hilarity. Which gave us a laugh. The service is great, the breakfast is in the bar and we will try the restaurant tonight. Last night at the tip of both TripAdvisors and the very helpful staff here, we tried Ghibli restaurant down on the beach which is right across the road. It was beautiful and great views and wonderful food. And the price of the hotel is low compared with Rome,Venice, and Verona. The history of the hotel is interesting, but I don't have the whole story yet. Paula owns it and lives here, intriguing. Since we are right on the street, you cannot sleep late, as the traffic comes by. With it had a swimming pool, but real estate is tight.
