We had visited Sorrento before and so had a good idea about where we wanted to stay relative to the central area and transport links. Surprisingly our hotel short list involved only Manniello Group Hotels, of which the De La Ville is one.
The bus from Sorrento Airport stops next to the railway station, and there is no need to take a taxi to this hotel as the walk is only about three hundred yards. Simply cross the main road and walk straight on for a hundred yards or so to the end of the dead end road, down a few steps then turn right and walk another hundred yards keeping right, then view the hotel on the left.
The rooms are very spacious and decorated in a classical style, with huge beds and a balcony, and it is difficult to see how anyone could be disappointed with these rooms. The room staff are very efficient, and the room was always made up while we were at breakfast.
As is general with larger hotels in Italy the breakfast is a step up from that provided by most of the smaller hotels, with fruit and hot plate options available.
A very good hotel, and a safe choice for an enjoyable holiday.

We spent one night here but would have loved to spend more! The hotel was well presented, the rooms were superbly appointed and the sea view spectacular. The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice.
Only niggle, when I asked for the wifi password the receptionist was a little off hand and said she was too busy, come back later- bit rude!
The roof terrace and pool were lovely but the pool was too cold to swim in although the day was warm :(
This was a great hotel, wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Just returned from a week in Sorrento to celebrate a birthday, booked through Thomsons Holidays, everything was perfect. Sea view room, Hotel de la Ville is an ideal location in Sorrento walking distance from Tasso square, railway and bus station, shops, with the added bonus of a sea view. Much better than staying outside town and relying on shuttle bus to get in and out. We did not do any organised excursions, preferring to do our own thing, and it was very easy to do that. The train to Pompeii is very frequent and takes about 20 mins, only a few euros each, also went to Herculaneum same way and got a private mini bus from Herculaneum railway station up to Vesuvius, also good. We went over to Capri on the jetfoil, around 27 euros return, made our own way around Capri, took the local bus to Ana Capri, all good. Bought a 24 hr bus pass for 7 euros each and used the SITA local buses to go to Amalfi and Positano. Sorrento is interesting in itself, had a couple of days looking round, Tasso square is great for people watching, lots of beautiful restaurants to eat at, we had half board at hotel so often had lunch out. Recommend the Foreigners Club, toilets there are free, information point Mon - Fri, lovely restaurant with stunning views for snacks or full meals or just a drink or coffee. Sorrento intarsia woodwork museum really interesting, cathedral worth a look, San Francesco church and cloisters also lovely, Marine Grande small fishing harbour interesting to look around and have a coffee and watch the world go by. Hotel Grand de la Ville excellent, lovely sea view room, evening meals fabulous freshly cooked local Sorrento menu, lots of fresh fish and pasta, included a buffet evening and Sorrento night with music.

I booked this hotel after reading of other Trip Advisor experiences and gladly report all the positive (I think I read 1 negative response) remarks were completely true. The hotel is superbly clean, staff very attentive and helpful, our prestige room was spacious and light with a large balcony housing a sunchair, bistro table and two chairs and of course the view was/is stunning. Breakfast was varied and plentiful with perfect english tea (my option!).

The hotel is a short pleasant walk to all that Sorrento offers and to the train station. The rooftop pool is brilliant, although too cold for us at the end of October! Again super super views, we cannot wait to return in warmer times.

Thank you to all the staff at the Grand Hotel De La Ville !!

Room Tip: I assume the higher you go the better the view - we were on the 5th, facing the sea and Mount Vesuvius. Brilliant.
