Was a decent hotel, truth be told, not quite as good as I'd hoped, but it was our honeymoon, so I was kinda hoping for the earth! Our first room was utterly horrible, very small, very little natural light and my new wife was left in tears. After asking at the desk and pointing out (as our agent had told us he had done) that it was our honeymoon, we were moved to a much better room and provided with a complimentary bottle of Prosecco as an apology (even though it was our agents fault the hotel had not been informed). The evening meal was passable, but to be honest, the difference in price was minimal and we ate out at any one of the numerous outstanding restaurants in Sorrento. The breakfasts were buffet style and well stocked - something for everyone! I cannot praise the staff highly enough, they were utterly outstanding and simply could not do enough for us, from the lad who looked after the terrace pool and bar the the guys who looked after the main bar and the maitre'd who made it his personal mission to ensure he knew every guests name within 24hrs of arrival, their reason for visit and his endless stories! Would stay again.

Room Tip: If you're not happy with the room on arrival, do ask to move. Ask for a room not overlooking the...

Booked this hotel at short notice. It was on a half board basis. Past experiences of other hotels meant my expectations were not high. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was as good as I get at 4 star Italian restaurants in London, they were kind enough to tell me how to cook some of the dishes when back home. We never ate out, and that's a first! When you are given a faultless consume or a pasta with an excellent sea food sauce, or a creme anglais with a nocino dressing (when out and purchased a bottle of the walnut liquore to try it at home) why wander out for a pizza? The rooms were spotless and service whether at reception or in the bar was always good. It may not suit younger holiday makers but if you want a place to stay with excellent views and the service associated with the grander style of hotels this is the place to go. Excellent

Relatives from the UK had recommended Hotel De La Ville to us and their recommendation was spot-on. We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed the hotel immensely. Our room was a third floor balcony -- beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, comfortable bed and balcony view to die for overlooking the Gulf of Naples ant Mt. Vesuvius. Every staff member is exceptionally personable, courteous, and enthusiastic. The dining room staff from the maitre 'd to table service staff go out of their way to greet by name, chat with and enthusiastically serve the guests with crisp efficiency. The reception staff went out of their way to answer our many touring questions and to offer excellent advice and service. Breakfasts are superb and dinner was excellent. The location is excellent for the train and bus stations and just a short walk to the main square. Staying here was a wonderful experience in every respect.

Room Tip: Splurge for a higher floor room with balcony view.

We stayed at Grand Hotel De La Ville for one week at "Garden view" unit. They put us in a 5th floor unit facing back. It is very quiet in the night. We are glad we did not spend more for a "sea view" unit because most of time we are not at the unit during the day. Bus and train stations are 10 minutes walk away. A $7.20 round trip bus ticket will take you to Ravello, Amalfi and Positano. Villa Cimbrone in Ravello is really beautiful.

Just come back from a ten day stay in Sorrento and stayed at the The hotel Grand de la Ville. Our room was very large and spotless,we had clean towels every day two large ones each as requested and clean sheets every other day,we gave a special mention regarding our chambermaid although all the staff were very friendly and helpful around the hotel.I really do not think it was worth requesting a sea view as the balconies over looked a road with the traffic going past ours was at the back overlooking apartment blocks so did not sit out at all.Go to the sister hotel The Royal for swimming in the sea and a larger pool,,as the large pool in the Grand is overlooked by buildings and on the roof top although it had a wonderful view it was a spa pool. There was a bar on the rooftop but no snacks at all so take your own,we only ate twice in the hotel so seems unfair to criticise but both times we were disappointed by the food, the breakfast could be have more variety eg.more cut fresh fruit and the cereals were a bit stale. The wonderful restaurants in Sorrento are a short walk away so eat out when you can,the very last day we found one called I giardini di Tasso via Maria della Pieta looks odd but great food.Went to Positano where we got a little boat with a red fish on it over to Ristorante Da Adolfo worth the experience.Buses trains are all 5 mins away so enjoy the hotel and Sorrento

We recently stayed at the Grand Hotel De La Ville, for seven nights and what a wonderful experience it was. We had a balcony room on the 3rd floor with amazing views. A very clean hotel, nice rooms and great breakfast both hot and cold. The dining room is just beautiful and then there is the courtyard... under the vines where guests can have breakfast or just pre dinner drinks. The rooftop pool is lovely with amazing views. I wish I could have stayed longer as it was a highlight of our Italy tour. It is only 10 minutes walk to the station to get the train or bus to Pompei or the Amalfi coast. And with a huge amount of restaurants all within walking distance, 10-15 minutes. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. We personally could not fault this hotel and and believe me I can be rather fussy with hotel rooms. Highly recommend. Well done Grand Hotel De La Ville. Lynda & Robert

Just arrived home after a great holiday in Sorrento and staying at The Hotel Grand de la ville. As with other comments, we arrived late and recieved the best welcome ever from Lucio. It was hard to single out one member of staff, they are all friendly, helpful and determined to give you a good holiday. It was my wifes birthday and our 30th wedding anniversay. The service foe our dinner was outastanding ow they could mange such a large number in a very efficient manner. Also a great location for trips and sightseeing. Use tof their sister hotel beach also.
My one issue was my room didnt have a sea view as such and feel I was charged for this. (to take up with my holiday company). The room and standards were exceptionally cleaned.
Met some wonderful people there. Miss you all.

Room Tip: Beware of the conditioning units power systems. Quite noisy if you are below them. Top floors best t...
