This hotel literally hangs off the cliff overlooking the Bay of Naples and Sorrento. Views from your balcony are spectacular and there is absolutely no road noise at all! Rooms are clean and neat. You can walk to town/restaurants in 10-15 minutes. Breakfast is average.

We stayed here for five nights in late April, 2013 and enjoyed it very much. I've read the other reviews and I think that your opinion of this hotel will depend upon your expectations and what's important to you. Yes, the rooms are a bit dated and somewhat spartan in decor and amenities (the towels were, indeed, very thin--but they were clean and they did the job), but the room was clean and the bed was comfortable (our two most important criteria), although the pillows were, indeed, flimsy. We never turned the TV on, as we usually don't watch TV when on vacation, but it was very small and mounted high up on the wall. The hotel is out on via Capo--the west end of town--so it is a bit of a hike into the town center, but you can get a bus just outside the hotel. The breakfast was adequate--fresh croissants, juice, coffee, cereal, hard-boiled eggs, sometimes coffee cake.

The view of Vesuvius across Napoli Bay is absolutely stunning--we never tired of it, day or night. The balcony was very nice, and we left the balcony door open one night for the cool breeze. The hotel was lightly occupied when we were there, so I can't speak to the noise issue. Joseph (the manager, I think), and Giacomo were both very nice and very helpful--both speak very good English, but didn't mind indulging my attempts at Italiano.

If you're looking for luxury, this is definitely not your place. But if you're looking for a clean, comfortable place to stay in a nice location, with good staff--Settimo Ceilo will not disappoint.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a balcony.

We have been to Settimo Cielo ("Seventh Heaven") twice and both times had an excellent visit. The views are fabulous. Be sure to ask for one of the many rooms with a balcony. The rooms are a little dated but the prices are excellent for this location. They have a full nice breakfast. You can sit outside on the terrace if you like. We have found the staff very helpful and kind. This is a family owned hotel that has never disappointed. Each time we have stayed there for a full week and had a wonderful time. Repeat guests receive a nice discount. Can't wait to return. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Request a balcony. Hotel is a short walk to town. Try La Fenice for dinner - excellent fresh food...

Albergo Settimo Cielo is a lovely little hotel clinging to a cliff on the cape overlooking Sorrento marina. Our room was spacious with the exception of a 2 ft by 2ft column penetrating the center of the room, ostensibly anchoring the building to the cliff. The room walls are paper thin so be advised you'll be sharing your conversation with your neighbors if you speak above a whisper. Our balcony was large enough to accommodate a table and chairs where we enjoyed the sunrise and sunset every day. The sea breeze was enough to keep us cool as I'm not sure the A/C was working at this time of year. The hotel is a little bit out of Sorrento's city center, but only a short walk down hill or a two minute bus ride. The SITA bus to the Amalfi coast was just outside the hotel door. The ferry marina to Capri was a considerably longer walk down to the marina, maybe 15 minutes and quite a hike back up hill when you were done with Capri.

Settimo Cielo means 7th Heaven but you will find it more like Uno Inferno (1st Hell)Do not stay here, we stayed here 6 &7 th Oct 2012 I was fooled by photos of the pool and the view, thank God it was only 2 nights. Staff quite nice and helpful. Room was 30 years out of date with tiny TV on the wall , and broken remote control , all fixtures and fittings are the worst you can imagine. You get one pillow each and what looks like an old horse blanket . The bathroom has what appeared to us like old tablecloths for towels. The view from the balcony was beautiful but the room terrible, do not stay here Breakfast was poor. Noisy old Air Con sounds like VESUVIOUS is about to erupt , and after you check in you will be wishing VESUVIOUS would erupt and destroy this hotel :)

Room Tip: We were in room 40 this may have been the worst in the hotel I would have demanded a change but we w...

This hotel was truly "Seventh Heaven!" It is perched high above the Bay of Naples, and the view, day and night, was magnificent. The hotel itself is rather old but very clean and the desk staff could not have been more accommodating. My husband and I had arrived with the start of bad colds and they made us tea and brought it to us minutes after our request. The hotel is a bit of a walk from town but not unmanageable by any means, good exercise. The breakfast was buffet style: fruit, croissants, cereal, hard boiled eggs, juice, coffee and tea. Certainly enough for us.
One negative, but not one over which the hotel really has much control: We had a delightful balcony facing the sea but our neighbors next balcony over were heavy smokers and we couldn't use our balcony without feeling a bit overwhelmed by smoke.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting an economical, clean and accommodating place to stay while in Sorrento.

Stayed here 29th Sept,to 5th Oct 2012. And am glad we did. Our room was basic and did not have a balcony though this did not bother us as we had a sea view and the hotel's terrace had the best view overlooking the bay of Naples and Vesuvius. The rooms were basic but clean and the beds comfortable. Be warned that air conditioning is controlled centrally and costs extra. The hotel is owned and run by a family, and they were extremely pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was a continental affair but substantial enough to set you up till lunch time. Lunch and evening meals were not available but with loads,of cafes and restaurants in the town this was not,a problem. The pool area was clean with plenty of sun beds though the sun did go,off the pool around 2pm and it would have been nice to find a sunny spot somewhere. The hotel is located above the town and is about a 10 minute walk downhill to the town. The walk back, although uphill,is not taxing (this from an overweight 61 year old). The hotel had a lift to all floors although I would not, recommend this hotel (or,resort) to anyone using a wheelchair as the pavements are very narrow in places. There was adequate parking for those who want to hire a car although you would have to be very brave to drive on Italian roads - no rules apply and it's a free for all with lots of horn honking. Train and bus fairs are incredibly cheap although the train station is a good 25 mins walk away. We used the train to visit Pompei and Herculanium. Boat trips to Capri and the Amalfi coast which should be on your itinery although it' a fair walk to the harbour. Buses run from the harbour back up to the town. Avoid taxis unless you want to be ripped off. All in all we had a great holiday and would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony and preferably on the 2nd floor which is where to pool is located.
