“Sorrento Italy Holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2014

Just returned from a weeks holiday at the Atlantic Palace, all we can say is brilliant, the food, the staff, the hotel and Italy itself fantastic, would like to point out this is not a kiddies hotel and we were advised next year it will be a couples only hotel which we think is the best way to go because it has a small swimming pool but very nice, a very nice garden area and there will be a new garden eating area opening soon, there are also plans for new a'la cart restaurant and a spa area.
As i said the staff are all fantastic, Cattelo in the pool bar does not stop, restaurant staff cant do enough for you. The one down side is the entertainment same key board singer every night apart from one

Room Tip: Annex rooms are quieter, if you would like sea view ask for top floor views are great

We have just returned from a weeks family holiday at Hotel Atlantic Palace. We are a family of 5 and our children are aged 9, 8 and 5. After reading as many reviews as possible before we went I had a mental picture of what to expect at this hotel and I wasn't disappointed. We were met on late arrival by the restaurant manager and staff and offered a nice buffet meal with a bottle of red wine. This was most welcome and the journey had been long and tiring. Our 2 rooms were on the 3rd floor to the back of the hotel facing the hot tubs. We had no noise apart from the gardeners one morning at 7.30am who thought it was a good idea to cut the grass on their grass cutting machines which was very intrusive. The rooms are very Italian style lots of yellow and blue tiles and a fridge which was great. On advice from other reviews I took my travel kettle which was great for a morning cuppa. The breakfast next day was OK. The rice krispies, coco pops corn flakes and beans were very cheap brands so the kids didn't eat them. This wasn't too disastrous as they liked the orange juicing machine and the toast and of course the pastries and chocolate spread. The pool area was fine. The kids loved it and met other children their age. The pool barman Catello very pleasant and funny. My only gripe about the pool bar was that on at least 3 to 4 occasions there was no ice cream for the children. When you take into consideration what we paid per head for this all inclusive holiday it made me a little angry, especially as we usually take them to Ibiza and this would never happen in their all inclusive hotels. Italy without ice cream don't make sense. The spirits were not branded although it may have looked like that. I ordered what I thought to be a Malibu and coke and it tasted awful so did the Bacardi. What can I say about the lunch. Fantastic! My favourite part of the day. Barbecued meats, freshly oven baked pizzas, pastas, wonderful soup, what a selection. The evening meal was great too. Once again lovely soups, fresh omelettes and the duck was superb. Pepe asked us all did we have a good day every night so this became a little feature of the holiday. The kids also loved a waiter called Lello, he joked and laughed with them all the time. The shuttle bus service was great as well. We used this a lot as the evening entertainment was boring and repetitive. The kids loved going down town to the shops. We didn't do any excursions because it would have been too much with 3 youngsters and also too expensive. The maid/cleaning service outstanding. I complained that there were some ants at the pool toilet and within 5 minutes a maid came and sorted this out. Overall a good holiday at a good hotel.

Room Tip: If you want a seaview probably the 4th floor.

This was our second holiday at The Atlantic Palace. In short a Brilliant Hotel, Brilliant Staff. Nothing is too much trouble for the Staff to make your stay special. Next year it will be couples only,

Food was great, A packed lunch is available on request for days out.

One thing we discovered this year; Even though a courtesy coach is provided, a local bus stops outside the hotel, and takes you further. Route A. Ticket available from the hotel Reception. 1Euro 20 cents, will buy you a ticket which lasts for 1 hour. We decided to take this bus towards Sorrento to see where it would take us. 40 minutes later, we arrived at the end of the line, to a fantastic little bay. Four or five beaches there(all dark sand) I believe the average charge is around 4 Euros each, for entrance to any of the beaches, includes sunbeds and umbrella, and toilet facilities, and snack bars. Sea looked beautiful, We didn't see any tourists there, but were made welcome. The Bus leaves every 20 minutes. If you do take that trip to the beach buy 2 tickets, one for your return journey.

Room Tip: fourth floor rooms 401 to 404 best view Mount Vesuvius facing you across the bay

Myself and partner stayed here from the 9th June 2014 - 23rd June 2014. This is our second time at this wonderful hotel and I have to say its gone from strength to strength. I want to point out that the negative comments which have been posted are, I feel, from people staying at another hotel. Although nothing is faultless - this hotel comes close!

The rooms have recently been refurbished and are now bright and comfortable with plenty of space for the time you need. All rooms have a safe - this was our only problem as the door was missing a handle, although this is easily sorted (Top tip! Use a pen or a clothes hanger). The air con is set at one temperature but we found this to be just right.

The hotel itself is situated up in the hills which is about a 20min walk or a 5min drive via the hotel shuttle bus. We didn't use this facility as we found the walk more of an experience! The road is quite busy but keep in to the left both up and down and you will be fine - we found the locals would move their vehicles to give us plenty of room.

The food is excellent, and for our 2 week stay we found no repetitive meals. Breakfast and lunch is served as a buffet which is brilliant as you have the chance to sample all the local delights - the ice cream is amazing. The pizzas at lunch are cooked fresh in front of you and I think you will find it hard to sample the British version once back home. Dinner is a waiter service and all the staff are attentive to detail and very accommodating to everyone's needs.

This brings me on to the staff. Its difficult to pick out one person who was better than the rest as this is far from the point. Although Pepe (Matrie D) and Antonio deserve a special mention for all their help and tips they gave whilst we were there. They are two of the nicest guys you can meet.

I highly recommend this hotel, the service is excellent and they bend over backwards to care for you. We cant wait to go back and have now planned for our wedding to be held in Sorrento and to stay at this wonderful hotel.

Room Tip: Go for the top floor! Although the road is noisy the sea views are immense!

Well, what more can I say. The staff and the manager were just so friendly and helpful, they really can not do enough for you. My wife got really painful tooth infection and although we did try to sort it ourself nothing worked. The hotel manager made her an appointment with his dentist, took us there and explained to the dentist what the problem was and it was sorted. He even arranged for a nurse to provide on-going treatment on a daily basis.

The rooms are lovely, kept spotless by the house staff, can not fault them.

The food was very good, as with most all inclusive it can be a little repetitive but that is expected. What was unexpected was the quality which was out standing.

The drinks from the bar are all branded drinks, none of your cheap stuff.

All in all a very good hotel, great staff and great food.

Room Tip: We chose a sea view room, 3rd floor and what a great view it is. However the traffic on the road out...

Not long back from this hotel, thought it was brilliant value, very friendly staff in all departments, room was kept spotless, food very good, apart from the set menu part of dinner, but lunch is fantastic, fresh made pizza, fresh grilled meats, pastas and salads, then fantastic ice creams, the hotel bus into Sorrento is great, just make sure you book it, the walk into town is not to bad and worth doing just for the views on the way down. gave it 5 stars which is just as well because the two weeks we were there the weather was real bad, so we were really pleased that the hotel was nice, would go back, we were lucky enough to get aroom on the fourth floor and the views were beautiful. If you are thinking of booking this hotel I don't think you would be disappointed.
Bob Todd

Room Tip: third or fourth floor with sea view

just returned from a week at this hotel ...stayed in the annexe on the 3rd floor with a french balcony ...to be honest a standard room overlooking the gardens and pool are much better in my opinion with a much larger balcony ...THE STAFF are just the best ....the food was to die for ...small pool beautiful gardens courtesy bus to town and to the beach ....all inclusive ...travelled with first choice our rep carl very friendly but pushing the most expensive trips ! evening entertainment not up to much ....even though we did not say it was my wifes birthday they had done some homework and made it a special evening for her ! looks like it will be VERY expensive next year probably to pay for all the changes ...couples only ...spa ....etc etc ....would go back but not at the price being advertised !! some negative comments that i am amazed by dont take any notice if its a couple holiday you want this will be lovely !

Room Tip: standard rooms overlooking the pretty gardens are good probably 3rd floor if you can get one !
