“Wonderful Honeymoon”
Reviewed August 26, 2014

We have recently celebrated the first part of our honeymoon at the Hotel Belair in Sorrento. The hotel was lovely and all the staff are extremely personable and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We were staying in a Junior Suite and were welcomed with a complimentary bottle of Champagne when we checked into our rooms on the first night. The suite itself was very spacious comprising of a large bathroom, sitting room with couch and then a large bedroom. The room had ample storage space with three fairly large wardrobes and an abundance of drawers to use. There is also a kettle with teas and coffees replenished daily, a mini bar fridge, safe, free WiFi and widescreen TV. The décor of the rooms is done in what I'd class as a traditional Italian style with old furnishings and lots of character. The one downside which I found in the whole room was that there was only 1 plug socket which you could use to charge up your electrical devices but we soon got around this. One of the highlights of the room has got to be the amazing views from the balcony looking directly out over Mt Vesuvius and to the side into Sorrento. The balconies are fairly large with both comfy lounger type and normal table chairs to chose from.

Away from the room and the hotel décor continues in the same style. The restaurant was always so quiet despite the fact we were staying in peak season and we always got a seat out on the terrace to eat overlooking the fantastic views. The food at both breakfast and dinner was really high quality. Breakfast being serve yourself with breads, meat, cheese etc although you could request bacon and eggs from the waiters too. Dinner most nights was sit down meal with 5 starters and 5 main courses to choose from a wide variety of dishes. Every night was different during our stay and we both found something we liked each time. All of the restaurant staff gave a fantastic service but in particular the head waiter Michele deserves special praise for his extremely friendly and wonderful manner.

The hotel is approximately a 10 minute walk away up the hills from Sorrento. For us this was great as we were not actually too keen on the hustle and bustle down in the town so to be on the outskirts taking in the views in the beautiful peace was perfect.

We were staying with Thomson and although the excursions were rather on the expensive side we went on 5 of these during our 11 day stay and can highly recommend the 4x4 up Vesuvius and the trips to Pompeii, Herculaneum and even Rome. Our Thomson rep Ali was great as well and very knowledgeable of the area and friendly whenever we saw her around the hotel, very much in keeping with the rest of the Belair staff.

If we were ever to return to Sorrento I certainly wouldn't hesitate in picking the Hotel Belair as our place to stay

Room Tip: All rooms have fantastic views over the Bay of Naples. The Junior Suites on the 2nd floor were very...

Views from the hotel were spectacular, staff friendly and helpful, short walk down into Sorrento, food fine and all rooms with a balcony overlooking the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius. Pool was not heated but fine as temperature was 30C every day with clear blue skies.

Just a few minutes walk to the Centre of sorrento. We really enjoyed to "sit on the edge" in the nice restaurant enjoying the view of Naples, Vesuvo, Pompeii. Anita and Ole Johan , Norway

Belair Hotel much better than our previous visits to Sorrento! Fabulous views across the bay of Naples from our hotel! Easy walk into town for shops! Loved the coffee and cakes, had to indulge every time we went into town!

We have recently returned from the hotel Belair and chose this hotel, as this holiday was for a special occasion and looked perfect...Perfect it was.
We arrived late in the evening and check in was seamless. The restaurant was kept open for us, and we enjoyed some delicious food, before walking down into the square.
The rooms were beautiful with an Italian feel. We had a suite on the low level and found this to be very spacious with two bathrooms and a spacious balcony with the most amazing views...waking up to these views in the morning was a treat. My sisters had a standard room on the same level and although not as big (as not a suite), it was beyond expectations and again had breathtaking views and great for watching the fireworks! The cleaners also did a great job daily, as both rooms were always spotless.
It is only a 10 minute (Approximate) walk down into the centre of Sorrento and we spent the first couple of days soaking up the atmosphere, as although this was the third visit for my partner and I, it was my Sisters first time here and we wanted them to understand why we return to this beautiful place.
We took a boat ride to Capri on the Monday and caught the boat down at the main Marina for around €30 PP return. On arrival we did our own thing (as not booked as an excursion) and wandered around the harbour, viewing the luxurious boats and after taking lunch we took a trip to the top, on the funicular railway and experienced further views to die for...great for ''Selfies!''.
We hired a car for a couple of days, during the middle part of our stay and ventured to Positano, Amalfi and also visited Ravello, after a recommendation from Rossano (head barman). With the roof down, taking in the Amalfi coast and stopping for lunch, in a hidden garden restaurant, with views of the Amalfi, this trip was one to remember and definitely a must. Roads can be nail biting at times...but this adds to the fun!
We always looked forward to coming back to eat in the restaurant in the evening, to enjoy pre dinner drinks on the terrace before experiencing top class service. On a couple of nights there was a pianist, which added to the ambiance we found the music perfect to listen to...we certainly didn't go to bed early after listening to it!
We did eat out on one evening and reception were more than happy to call and book this for us.
The last day was spent by the pool, soaking up the sun. The pool area was well maintained (Thank you Stefano) and it was never a problem to get a sun bed. What can be better than lazing in the pool, to cool off, whilst taking in the views of the Mountains, Blue Sky and Sea?!
Finally, I think the main reason I wanted to write my first review on Trip Advisor is because of the main aspect that made our holiday so special...THE STAFF!...
The staff at the Belair hotel work endlessly to ensure all guests are having a grand stay. The reception staff, waiters, cleaners, pool attendant and all staff we came across, were friendly and always in high spirits. They were a HUGE component to make this holiday experience what is was.
We wanted to say a very special thank you to Stefano, for making us laugh and being so helpful, whilst laying by the pool. You are a real attribute to the hotel ans we hope to see you again soon! We also wanted to thank Rossano (Head Bar Man) for being entertaining whilst we had drinks on the Terrace and for sharing your knowledge on where we should visit. We would also like to share a big thank you to Michele (Head Waiter) and Francesco (Reception) for being so accommodating and gracious...it was a pleasure to meet you all and we will be returning to say hello again!
I previously mentioned this hotel was for a special occasion and after staying at the Belair, this occasion will be truly remembered. We all hope to return soon whether it be for a weekend stay or longer.
Thank you all and see you soon.

Room Tip: Rooms on the lowest level seemed better as you were not overlooked and I would recommend booking a s...

We stayed here for 5 nights on our honeymoon. When we arrived we were greeted with a warm, friendly welcome. Nothing seemed too much trouble. As it was our honeymoon, we had some complementary bubbles in our room. The was a standard room. It is quite basic, but perfect for what we needed. The room was very clean and the view is stunning. The little table and chair on the balcony overlooking Mount Vesuvius was perfect for relaxing with a drink. The staff were all charming, especially the evening bar staff and pool attendant.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone and will certainly be returning!
Thank you Hotel Belair!

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday at the Belair, during which we celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. We had a junior suite which was awesome. It had one of the largest balconies on site with stunning views over the bay of Naples and Mt Versuvius. We had a 4 poster bed, Sky TV and free Wifi which is throughout the hotel. The bathroom and our bedroom were both huge and they were always nice and cool, even without using the air con.
We were half board and the food was excellent. The breakfast was a mix of continental and hot, with various types of eggs cooked to order.(our usual was scrambled with crispy bacon) followed by fruit or sweet treats (yummy cakes).Evening meals were always traditional Italian fare and the Maître de was always on hand to assist with advice regarding wine. I have to make special mention of the staff as a whole. They all work long hours (some never seem to go home!)and they are all friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Even the pool guy takes pride in what he does.
The hotel is traditional with modern touches. It is very grand with tiled floors and baroque style decor but it makes you feel like a million dollars (even if you don't have it!). It does have some entertainment evenings, but they are in keeping with its style and are relaxed and laid back. (If you are looking for agadoo try so where else....please!) The pool itself does follow a 'no reserve on sun beds' which is great and it is spotlessly clean. You can rent pool towels at 1euro a day which cuts down on luggage weight!
The hotel has a well stocked bar and a cool terrace overlooking the bay to enjoy a nite cap.
Part of our holiday is always 'eating out' on the odd occasions, because we enjoy new experiences and Sorrento town is an easy 15 min walk down a slight hill. I have commented on our favourite restaurant 'Caruso's' on its own review site, but it really is a must.
All in all the Belair was one of the best places we have ever stayed and we are already looking to book again for next year.
