“The most beautiful view in the world?”
Reviewed October 4, 2012

We have just returned home after spending 7 nights at the Villa Oriana. We arrived after a long, hot journey to be greeted by Magdalaena with ice cold lemonade & freshly baked cake, served on the balcony of the breakfast room, which must have one of the best views ever out over the Bay of Naples. Only after she made sure we were refreshed did the business side of things intrude. This was the way things continued all week. All who work here go out of their way to help. Every morning we left our comfortable room on the bottom floor, with its own patio, to find the most amazing breakfast laid out. Maria, the owner, must be up at the crack of dawn baking each day as there was always a quiche or type of bread & usually 3 or 4 cakes all made by her that morning. Add to this the salamis, mozzarella, fantastic tomatoes & all the marmalades & the lemon honey to go with the little rolls & we had to drag ourselves away from all the delicious food to see the area. All the staff were able to help with tips about where to eat & how to get around. Make the most of the restaurants that offer free transfers. Da Philipo is amazing, great home style cooking at fantastic prices.
The only down side with staying here would be if you have any problems walking. The hotel is up a steep road & if you had to rely on taxis it might get expensive. But for anyone who likes a walk the centre of Sorrento is only 20 to 25 minutes away. I would advise that you expect the buses to be on strike & then it will be a nice surprise if they actually are running.

Room Tip: Bottom floor rooms have patios & no view of the bay because of the lemon & orange trees surr...

Great Place, I would rate it 5 stars. Price was to good to be true! Friendly Staff, great breakfast! Parcking and big rooms. Better than most 5 star hotels! We will definitely come back when we are around.

We arrived to the hotel after a long flight, and a 3.5 hours drive from rome.
Carmela and Angela greeted us with a big smile, offered us a cold lemonade, and some home made (delicious) cake.
The view from the hotel to the city (10 Min. walk) is breathtaking.
The hotel staff and owner will be more than happy to assist you with everything you need.
The rooms are clean, big and well facilitated.
And last (but not least), the amazing breakfast is all that you can dream of and than some... (I won't elaborate in order to let you be amazed, as we were).
For conclusion, It's must be one of the best places in the world....

After a slightly disappointing stay at Hotel LÁrgine Fiorito in Atrani, we checked into Villa Oriana Relais for three nights from July 23, and wow. Right from the start we were made to feel at home, all staff were professional but seemed genuinely friendly as well. The room was tastefully and comfortably decorated, spacious and had stunning views across the Bay Of Naples, and you can't beat the rooftop deck with the spa tub and panoramic views. The breakfast (all cooked by the owner, Maria) was lush to say the least and presented with care and we did indeed decide to bring home some of the produce made on the property and available for purchase.

I honestly couldn't fault our stay here, and after being disappointed with Naples and a bit jaded with Italy generally (being fleeced in Capri, the cover charge policy at some restaurants etc), it felt like Oriana Relais made up for everything. Okay - don't get me wrong, I loved Rome and the Amalfi Coast and had some great experiences in Italty, I just wasn't expecting a hotel to be a highlight. My partner and I both left feeling like we'd go back to Sorrento just to stay with our new Italian family at Villa Oriana Relais. It was that good.

I recommend the Villa Oriana to any traveller who values wonderful views of the bay of Naples, AMAZING breakfasts each morning which are homemade and start your day off in the best possible way, and most of all, tremendous caring and hospitality from the staff and owners of the property. Imagine yourself breakfasting on exquisite baked goods on a gorgeous terrace overlooking the bay. It's a great place!

My partner and I booked an impromptu night here for our last stay in Italy. I must admit the last minute deal rate we found was much more competitive than the rate offered a few months ago. If you are driving it is great - free secure parking. We had spent a few days earlier in the Hilton in Sorrento which was lovely in many respects (initially booked over Villa Oriana on cost). However Villa Oriana offered a totally different feel. It is very peaceful & we had the romantic feeling of staying in a really old charming Villa as opposed to a uniformed hotel. We had already spent a week in Italy and knew it was a little further out than the Hilton for convenience of going into Sorrento town but that didn't matter for our last night. We were therefore pleasantly surprised to realise the staff will organise everything for you - from a free shuttle bus service to and from restaurants as well as organised boat trips to Capri and the other islands. Their service in this respect was better than the Hilton. It doesn't matter if you don't have a car. The Hilton was better located for access to the town for exploring. But the Villa Oriana was better for peace and relaxation with easy access to daytrips etc if so desired. Our room was beautiful, the breaksfast was lovely. The hotel was very quiet. If we had longer I would have spent a day on the roof top terrace in the whirl pool - amazing views over Mount Vesuvius. Very convenient if driving from Naples Airport or visiting Pompeii. The staff offer fantastic service. It is likely we will stay here if we go back to Sorrento.

This hotel is a very nice place to spend a lot of time. It is a twenty minute walk into the town centre, and up the hill, but as a result is very peaceful and out of the busy traffic. The jacuzzi is great and has beautiful views of mount Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples, as does the breakfast terrace. The staff are very friendly. No restaurant but free shuttles to some restaurants are available (one has a playground for the kids), or the staff can order in a delicious pizza for you in the evening. The very nice swimming pool at another hotel 50 m down the road is free to use, also with views of the Bay and food available.
The breakfast is perfect and freshly made with local produce by the owner.

I would of given it 5 stars!
Go there, it has the best breakfast in the world!!!!
P.S.If you do go there take a trip down to the bathing platforms in Marina piccolo, Sorrento and a recommended restaurant is Ruccio you can't miss it as it is right next to the water(1 foot.Be careful not to fall back in your chair!), they will also take you back to the hotel in a taxi!
