My husband and I stayed in Sorrento for 5 days. Upon arrival we were greeted with a warm smile and friendly service. We stated that we are hungry and were immediately informed about the various restaurants that will pick us up from hotel and drop off, or course we took advantage of that, as we are exhausted from traveling and just wanted a good dinner.
Everyday room service left our room spotless and smelling great. We stayed in room 201. Balcony looked out on the coast and the nearby camp ground, which housed a donkey that I named billy, he made noises every night, but nothing that disturbed our nights sleep.
We stayed in amalfi one night and received a phone call from front desk checking to make sure we were ok, since we did not make it back that night. We thought that was really thoughtful of them.
Overall pleasant stay. No elevators therefore be prepared to carry your bags

Stayed at Hotel Spicy for a 2 night stay. Hotel staff were very accommodating and friendly. Gave excellent suggestions for local dinners with transportation provided. Breakfast buffet had a great selection. Location was a bit out of the main area, but views from the room were worth it. Shuttle services and busses running to and from the hotel which made it easy to get to Sorrento.

We Honeymooned at the Spicy and on balance enjoyed it, although there are a number of things that are a little odd.

At first, this Hotel appears quite together. Quirky signposting but nice clean lines and a smart exterior. The parking is limited, however this was explained. The Reception is really welcoming, and the area is bright and uncluttered.

Check in was simple and they provided a couple of invaluable local tips (€1 shuttle bus to town that's unbelievably handy and a local Sorrento map).

Our room was a little small, however almost bang on the price which was cheap considering other hotels in the area (tourists talk, and Sorrento in general is expensive - considering everything you can get cheaper suitable hotels but you'd need to compromise on location).

One thing that struck me was whoever designed it should have been made to live in it for a week afterwards. The storage space has been sacrificed and although the minimalist approach may look good as you enter, it quickly loses appeal when you have to arrange things to live out of suitcases!

Another odd element to the design was the bedside lamps. Neither worked (and felt too light to have a bulb in). One of them didn't even have a plug socket anywhere near it and no attempt had been made to add one or run a lead to it. The lead was just curled up underneath.

There was a TV in the room, but appeared to be local stations only.
The double glazed door to the balcony wasn't airtight, which generally won't be a problem (although you can hear the traffic and high speed wind).

Aircon was excellent. Even produced a wave-like noise which was quite soothing.
The Shower room is a bit compact, which isn't a big issue. Just means only one of us at a time could use it.

Room access Doors have solid electronic locks. This is a big plus, as ours was operated several times in the night while we were there and didn't let anyone else in :-) I think this is because the room numbers are badly signed. I didn't even realise we had one for two days.

Another feature that is less pleasant is that the walls and doors are unable to isolate noise. They're so thin you can clearly hear next doors alarm clock (and other smaller noises) and as has been reported here previously, the other guests can be really loud.

We were woken more than once by returning guests at 1-2 am. Surprising when they admonish you for washing clothes or eating in the room, that they couldn't add "and please consider other guests by being silent after 2300h" or something.

Perhaps it's a cultural norm to reassure strangers you are home. The Eating and washing thing is just wrong though. I've paid for the room, I'll do anything legal in it I'd do in my own.....

Breakfast is practical and suitable, although you get bored of the choice quickly. It was telling that the coffee and orange machine "broke down" two days before the end of our stay. It felt like the hotel was surprised with the volume of guests (there was a school group in at that time).

The Restaurant portion of this "Hotel and Restaurant" just doesn't exist, although they do offer to book for you elsewhere.

It's a real shame, as I think this would be suited to one. The other thing missing that is really, really needed is a bar. There are lots of spaces set aside for one, but none is available. There is nothing worse than returning in the evening to a hotel in darkness and having to bring in your own beer etc. It makes this hotel feel more like an upmarket hostel.
I think on balance, that this is my overriding impression of this hotel. It appears very much to be constructed by someone who has seen hotels, but never run one. Don't get me wrong; We enjoyed our stay, but it just isn't "there" yet. If you can put up with that you'll be fine. If you can't, and you can't cope without things normally taken for granted, then look elsewhere.

Parking is only for small cars. The rooms are as anywere else, very clean. There is not enough power plugs. There is only one table and one chair. Cleaning ladies are very pleasant, but guy on reception is annoying.

'Beach' nearby is only for the very brave and adventurous. Only rock and cliff access after a grueling long walk to reach the sea but there is a bar for a nice cold Peroni. Parking is at an additional charge and is not easy to get in or out of, useful for small cars. Room, bathrooms and hallways needs renovation, very basic and in stark contrast to the public areas. No lift so small bags recommended. Access to centre was easy using the minibus at the nearby camping ground at a small charge. No sidewalk so care taken walking on road especially at night. The public areas look very modern, trendy and arty and their is a lovely fragrance at the front entrance. View from small balcony. Good breakfast offers both savoury and sweet options.
