The Bellevue Syrene is simply fantastic! We loved every minute of our 3 night stay. We are 2 couples who were at the end of a 2 week trip and staying in Sorrento at the Bellevue Syrene was the icing on the cake. We had beautiful rooms (each room had 2 balconies) over looking the Bay of Naples with the most amazing views. The location of the hotel can not be improved on.....people come 24/7 to take pictures at the entrance of the hotel....the view is that amazing! We had dinner in their terrace restaurant on the last night and it was our favorite evening of our entire trip. They have a very talented, charming man who plays the piano so well it will bring you to tears.....the food was great (homemade pasta with lemon sauce)......and the service was without fault. The front desk was more than accommodating (and friendly!).....getting us reservations at a local restuarant on the water with a car pickup, securing a private boat for a day trip to Positano and welcoming us back after long days of touring Capri and Pompeii with champagne chilling in our rooms. As we had to leave very early in the morning for flights back home, the hotel prepared us box breakfasts to take with us. Also, the club level lounge, which offers complimentary water, wine, soda, juices, and all different kinds of pastries and cakes, was such a treat and available throughout each day! We are well traveled and simply fell in love with Sorrento (can those lemons be real???) and the Bellevue Syrene. You will love it here! Do not hesitate to stay at this beautiful property, it's 5 star all the way.

We stayed here for 7 nights recently as part of a long tour of Italy. This a seriously lovely hotel with a wonderful location. The interior design is to a high spec and the elegant public rooms are a clever mix of old and new - which really works. It is expensive though, and for that we expected just a little more than comfort and good design. We would recommend this hotel and would probably go again but ,overall, we felt that it lacked a cohesive ambience and this probably comes from the top. We found the waiting staff to be fine - but that the reception and administrative staff - while efficient and pleasant - were quite distant and any more senior management were practically invisible. We were not sure quite what the hotel was aiming for - jolly 'Italian' as evinced by the waiters or cool distant elegance.

The main problem with this hotel though is it's restaurant. The food is expensive but, as the hotel has a lovely restaurant terrace, we decided to eat there. What a mistake - the food is incredibly poor value, being bland and poorly presented - the very worst kind of hotel food and the sort found much lower down the hotel pecking order. Eat elswehere in Sorrento - there are lots of places.

We recently spent 3 nights in a deluxe sea view room on the top floor. The room was spectacular. The view over the bay of Naples was out of this world, the room was huge and the bed was large and comfortable.

The hotel is like a wonderful museum. We enjoyed the many public rooms filled with interesting art. The location is nice too. Quite and secluded but close enough to the action.

We found the staff to be somewhat arrogant. We never felt like anyone was happy we were there and this includes the serving staff at breakfast. The breakfast also wasn't very good.

All in all, we spent a lot of money at this hotel and enjoyed the location and the building but the ambiance left a lot to be desired because of the attitude the staff.

Just returned from a 5 nite stay, and cannot say enough positive about the Bellevue Syrene. Our room (307) was a deluxe sea view, and it was gorgeous with a large patio overlooking the sea and Mt Vesuvius. The staff was superb. The concierge snack bar provided continuous complimentary food and drink all day til 9PM. The decor was modern classic which gave the feel of updated grandeur. The location is tucked away from the main Sorrento center but only 2 blocks away, never had trouble walking to/from shopping and restaurants. No complaints!

We stayed for 4 days at the Bellevue Syrene. The hotel sits on the edge of cliff overlooking the ocean below - amazing views. The design of the hotel is unique - combines old 1800s bones with funky style. Feels like something Phillipe Stark might do (don't know who designer was)... lot's of great art => Dali Room had 10 lithographs / monoprints and great lighting. The hotel is in a U-shape around a central court where free wine drinks and snacks are served almost all day long. There are lots of common spaces - multiple rooms - each a unique design in terms of art, furniture and lighting. Many common decks / restaurant space as well = all with great views (get the idea).

Since it's an old hotel the rooms vary a great deal. The best rooms in general are on floors +1 or +2 (4th + 5th floor from the bottom). The lobby is on "0". The +1 and +2 floors have much higher ceilings and are away from the possible noise on lower floors (if there is a wedding/ event etc.). Avoid the -1 and -2 floors. I actually stayed in Room 607 on the +3 floor => the room was ~400 sq. ft+ - with separate sitting area, desk and 2 decks, very nice shower, but no tub. The floors are tile - with unqiue design. Lots of art, books and knick-knacks decorate the room - they have a thing for bird cages here - don't know why. The room decks on the lower floors have better views because they have railings instead of a solid half wall toward the ocean. The 3rd floor also has much lower ceilings - so stay there only if you have a large room. The king bed was actually 2 singles pushed together - the "European King". A room safe was available with key lock instead of combination. There was a 20+ inch LCD TV - with 5+ news channels in english, however, no movie channels in english. Excellent housekeeping => the towels were plush, however, sheets felt kind of coarse - weird.

Breakfast is included in the room rate. The spread is okay - lots of breads / croissants + fruit, eggs (too runny), wierd sausage, fresh juices. You can actually order off a limited menu - so that's probaby the better option (Still free). Service is great.

The "beach" is actually a wood platform built over rocks 5 floors down on the ocean (accessable by elevator or stairs). Limited beverages + snacks on the platform, however, many other platforms and restaurants are in the immediate area - and you can walk or swim over to them. The real beach is not impressive - in the middle of the dockworks - protected by rock walls with lots of kids and umbrellas... but the views and sun are great. There is NO swimming pool at the hotel.

The staff are solid, but it's not quite Four Seasons capabilities in terms of restaurant reccomendations, travel etc. Nevertheless, helpful and friendly. The Business Center is one computer at about 1 Euro a minute - so relax and don't work.

Sorrento can be quite busy during the tourist season but the beauty of staying at the Bellevue Syrene is that it is just far away enough from the hub bub of the central plaza. The hotel is simply beautiful.

*Rooms* I would definitely recommend a sea view room because it feels so amazing to wake up and hear the waves and watch the fishing boats. When booking a seaview room, I recommend getting a room with a balcony and avoid the seaview rooms on the top floor because they have very high walls that partially block the view.

*Club Lounge* The Club Lounge is a nice treat - they serve complimentary drinks and snacks all day in the terrace and in the indoor seating lounge. Not that we sat on the terrace drinking prosecco all day but I felt it was a very nice touch.

*SPA* The spa facilities could improve. They only have one lady performing services - she was very good but the overall facility lacks sophistication.

*Private Beach* We didn't go to the private beach because it's not really a beach! They built a large sundeck and set up a bunch of deck chairs and umbrellas.

After alot of research on hotels in Sorrento we could not be happier with our choice to stay at the Bellvue Syrene! The hotel is beautiful, rooms were well appointed and the view from the ocean view rooms is breathtaking. Staff was very accomodating - they arranged our transport to and from airport as well as helped us book a private car and driver for a wonderful and scenic tour of the Amalfi coast.
Breakfast was good and the Club Lounge is a perfect extra to have included with your stay. Free soft drinks, wine, beer and snacks throughout the day!
The private sundeck was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sun.
If you are looking for a beautiful hotel with picturesque views and top notch service I would definitely say that the Bellevue Syrene is the perfect choice!!
