We were on a two day (one night) tour to Sorrento and Capri so didn't choose our own hotel. What a nice surprise we had on arrival after a long day. This hotel is beautiful, the staff were friendly and efficient. Good wifi and computer available at reasonable cost (I've found it easier to pay as free wifi is usually not very good).
Our room was just lovely, the bathroom perfect, the view was nice even tho not exactly overlooking the sea fully - we were at the side overlooking the pool but could still see the sea.
The dining area was beautiful too and the service and food left nothing to want.
Overall, a very pleasant experience.
The only lesser point would be that the pool closes at 6pm. I was told that this applies to a lot of the hotels and is a result of recent regulations that require life savers to be in attendance at all times while the pool is open.
I don't think the pool being closed at 6pm if you were holidaying there would be a big problem. It was just that we only arrived at 5.45pm so it affected us on that occasion and we were only there for the one night.

Room Tip: You could ask for a room overlooking the sea which is amazing but I imagine those would be more cost...

An outstanding hotel with wonderful staff. Its' ambience is modern and tasteful, rooms so comfortable and well furnished, so efficient and friendly reception and a dining room of elegance with wonderful views and wonderful food.
And the calibre of its' staff are as fine an example as you will see.
Just magnificent.

Just returned from two weeks in Italy - the last week being in Sorrento. We paid for a sea view room - it was spotlessly clean, roomy and had a lovely balcony. The food in the restaurant was excellent (I am very difficult to please when it comes to food!) - so you have to get your own tea/coffee in the morning ! at least you can have as much as you want !
This is the second year we have been to this hotel - cannot wait to go back again. Its a nice gentle stroll into the town but well worth the effort when you sit at the Fauno Bar in Tasso square with a cappuchino.

Room Tip: Worth paying for a sea view - you cannot beat the views of the bay and Vesusius

Stayed at the Ambasciatori for 10 nights. Had a suite overlooking the bay plus Vesuvius. The hotel was spotless and we found the staff more than helpfull. The pool area & the ' beach' was tremendous with plenty of sunbeds available throughout our stay. Could not fault the food as they catered for all tastes. I find it hard to give a negative about the Ambasciatori & would not hesitate to go back.

Room Tip: PLEASE try to get a room with a FULL sea view!

Stayed in June for my 50th birthday and can only say this Hotel is superb. On arriving we was told that our room was not the original one we had been allocated due to an electrical fault and the reception staff told us we would be moved the next day. As we did not make a big fuss over this and was sympathetic to their problems we found the next day that we was upgraded to a room with a sea view and was given champagne as compensation. Overall we found the staff extremely friendly and welcoming and they do appreciate it if you try and speak alittle Italian. I am suprised by the previous comments from a previous guest with regard to the rude manager as we did not encounter this at all and would only say that maybe he was not having a good day not excusing this but did not encounter this at anytime. The Restaurant was excellent but please bear in mind its al'a carte so do not expect large portions but with a husband who likes his food after 3 courses he was not hungry!. Overall the Hotel was good value and I would not hesitate recommending this to anybody good location, bathing area down by the sea good although we did not use the swimming pool so can't comment. After speaking to many guests we found that the majority of these were returning guests so I think this speaks for itself. Views stunning and cleanseness of the hotel 1st class and we will definatley be going back

Room Tip: Try and pay for a sea view its worth having to watch the sun going down every night over the bay

Stayed in May for a special occasion, thought not good when no response to e mail informing hotel of special occasion.

On arrival hotel is very plush & clean, however room was small & next to lift which kept us awake during the night as was squeaky & noisy.
On asking if cud be moved as had come
to relax, I have never encountered such rudeness by the manager who advised me there were no other rooms even tho I had been told by the receptionist there were. On questioning this & also his attitude to me( this meant to be a 5* hotel) his exact words were 'This is not a 5* hotel, u shud know this'. I have never in all my travels had such awful service & wud recommend anyone not to stay here.

Food was average & on our last nt which was BBQ nt there was no meat on BBQ just fish? As we were still eating at 930 the rest staff started taking all the buffet tables down, banging & clattering around our table, I have never known anything like it while guests still eating!

I am not a picky traveller but paid a lot for this special occasion & feel the level of customer service needs increasing to warrant the price. Stay somewhere else!

And to the manager, your attitude is a disgrace.

We decided to treat ourselves and were very glad we did, this hotel was wonderful. Lovely gardens & great breakfasts. My son loved the lizards that appear all over the place, whilst my daughter enjoyed the bathing platform. A bit of a stroll into town but it never felt too far.
Some of the areas eg the cliff was rather unkept & tired looking & the internal room that the children shared was very noisy from the kitchens & live music, but they said they'd go again despite this.

Room Tip: If you can rise to a sea view, do it. we spent so much time on our little balcony & we don't...
