“Nice Hotel in a Tourist Mecca”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2012

For anyone visiting Sorrento this would be very high on the list of places to stay.

The hotel is large but low set (only 6 stories from memory). We were here for 1 week on a recent trip to Italy. Check-in from the front desk staff was courteous and efficient. With an Ocean View room, they have a fabulous view over the Bay of Naples to Vesuvius. The rooms are of a good size with plenty of room for luggage. The bathroom is of good size and there is a nice balcony to sit on should you like to have a relax. Location is good, however note that it is not in the centre of town and a good walk or a 15 Euro taxi trip will be required to access the main eating/entertainment area. Concierge was excellent assisting to arrange some bookings at local restaurants on our behalf.

The bar on the lobby level is very good. The service from the wait staff is excellent and everyday there was a small selection of canapes to accompany your drinks. Comparatively within the "area" the prices in the bar was quite acceptable. The view is also very good. Below the bar is the Pool. it is large and a good place to swim, however it can get very busy and unless you are early there is difficulty in finding seating.

Breakfast and the Porter/Doorman service were the only 2 disappointing parts of our stay. The breakfast room is very large and I think that potentially when we stayed they were short staffed as the service was not up to usual Hilton standards. Porters and Doormen were generally disinterested with any requests and surprisingly were even disinterested in any gratuity for assistance that may have been provided!

Sorrento is definitely a destination for tourists. It is bustling with people and life at all hours. The Hilton Sorrento is a nice location and were we to return we would stay here again.

Room Tip: Definitely go for an Ocean View at minimum to have a wonderful view

This is a very modern hotel that definitely earns the Hilton badge. I am a Diamond member, and was able to get upgraded to the Executive Floor which included lounge access (we booked a standard king room rate, facing the water). I am sure this is what made the hotel all the more enjoyable, but nevertheless it is a great hotel. It is within walking distance of town, although I recommend you take a taxi from the train station up to the hotel when you first arrive (assuming you don't have a car)...shouldn't be more than 30 Euro for four people each with one suitcase. The Executive lounge was great as it rained a couple of the days we were there so we just sat and visited, read, and enjoyed the snacks & drinks. The breakfast downstairs (second floor I think) is much more substantive than the Executive lounge breakfast, so unless you just want a quiet capuccino and typical cold European breakfast, head downstairs. The staff was very helpful and there were many nice perks and surprises in the room...I will definitely stay here again when in the area. It was too cold to use the rooftop pool, but the views are spectacular and would have been very relaxing to soak up the sunshine in the pool if it was a bit warmer.

Room Tip: You can't go wrong on the Executive Floor, hopefully you have status and can get an upgrade, if...

This is a huge modern style hotel with beautiful and spacious public areas. Room and bathroom are spacious with a clean look to it, bed is very comfortable.
We stayed in 2 adjacent rooms on the 4th floor, top to bottom glass doors, with a terrace overlooking Naples and the Vesuvious. The view is spectacular.
We traveled with 2 kids and they were able to acomodate them easily and comfortably, one per room.
A complete breakfast buffet was available and it was very good. Hot dishes (bacon, potatoe, sausage, pancakes), deli style cheeses, several different breads, juices (fresh squeezed orange juice), cakes, pies....
It sits on a hill, not in the center of town. Easy walking distance though. Parking is charged separately. Very difficult to park in town, walk down and take a taxi back if
There was no function going on when we were there, but it seems to be a hotel used for big conferences.

My husband is a Hilton Honors Diamond member so we always try to stay at a Hilton property when we travel. The Hilton Sorrento Palace did not disappoint. Beautiful public spaces, friendly and helpful staff. The executive lounge has spectacular views looking over Naples Bay. Our room was what we expect from a Hilton, clean and spacious, with all the little amenities. The room had huge walk out terrace with a wonderful view. The hotel is not in the center of town but is only about 10 minutes walk into the heart of Sorrento...longer coming back because everything not on the waterfront along the Amalfi Coast is up, up, up. If you are in reasonably good shape, the walk from town to the hotel is very doable, but if you have difficulty walking be prepared to pay 15-20 euro's for a cab. The hotel would be a perfect 10 if they had a shuttle service. That is my only negative. We would stay here again, the hotel is great and Sorrento is the perfect location for trips to all the other areas along the Amalfi coast.

Room Tip: ask for a room overlooking Naples bay

Stayed for a week in October using hilton points. Husband is diamond member so upgraded to exec room.

Room: very comfortable bed, large bathroom, awesome view from the balcony, facilities for making tea/coffee whic unusual in Europe. Negatives: Modern style but had 2 funky leather chairs which weren't that comfy to sit on and zero English tv other than the news. But not major deal as we did not plan on spending much time in the room.

Exec lounge: very good food/ drinks. With wine available from lunch time thru til 11pm. Varying food selections all day. Outside sea facing terrace was lovely and the private small pool / sun bathing area was nice touch. Only negative was lack of comfy sofa type seats in the indoor part so had more of a cafe vibe with tables and chairs.

Main pool looked nice, cascading pools. One point to note due to location of hotel and low sun in autumn all external areas of hotel were in shade by 2.30pm ish.

There have been comments on the walk into town. We did not find this an issue it was 5 to 10 mins. It is uphill on the way back which might be an issue for the very old or infirm, but we did not find this a problem. Taxis very exp. it cost us 21 euro from train station with our luggage , it was a Sunday and apparently there was sunday supplement.

Finally we used the bus to get to sorrento station from Naples. It took just under 1.5 hrs but was easy. We took the train to Pompeii ,which was rammed and would not like to be on that with luggage.

Room Tip: Sea facing. The rooms on the mountain side overlook the road. A low floor on this side would not be...

Stayed for two days before moving to another hotel in the town centre. Spacious public areas, nice terrace with wonderful views. Staff on reception were a bit cool but everywhere else they were very friendly and helpful. Food was very good. As already mentioned there is no shuttle into town and taxis cost 15 euros. As the hotel is on a hillside up a fairly isolated street the walk back is challenging unless you are fit. There was no sign of a bus service but perhaps this was because we were out of season.
If you have a sea view room the trek uphill is worth it.

Hilton Sorrento follows the good brand standards.
The location is great, qalking distance from the center, but at a higher spot, what make the view of the good part of our stay.
The hotel has everything you can imagine. A great outdoor pool, an indor pool, tennis court, gym, spa, shops, restaurants, etc.
The breakfast is complete and with many options for adults and children and the room is clean and with a great size.
Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.
