What a great place - we ate here 3 times and also got a pizza to take away one night - fabulous mussels, great calamari, lovely melanzana, fantastic swordfish pasta - all in all we had such lovely evenings here listening to the live music and even getting some of our requests sang and the girls loved it all too and the resident cat also called Lucullo

We stayed nearby in a hotel and happened to choose this restaurant in passing. We liked it and then ate in it four nights in a row. And it was different every night. The one thing that was common to all nights is that it was full every night – which I have always thought tells you something…

It doesn’t surprise me that the reviews on this place are mostly very positive with a few much less so. Some people will go into it expecting a meal in a normal restaurant, might find the music intruded into their conversation (it sometimes does) and that they don’t rush to serve you (they don’t, it’s all very relaxed) and be quite disappointed, even though the food is as good as real Italian food gets. I have no idea what it’s like at lunchtime, we only experienced the evening, and experienced is the right word. The words “Music bar” on the outside give you a clue.

Most nights they have “live” music – live singing (really good professional singers with backing tracks, sometimes with extra keyboards or guitar) some in Italian and some in English reflecting the customer mix, but the type of music apparently varies with the reaction from the audience. On our first night it was easy listening, Sonatra and similar, all very polite and nice. The second night, how totally different – salsa and rock and roll, with everyone in the whole restaurant (many like us silver haired) on their feet dancing around, we just couldn’t believe it! It was the pizza chef’s night off on the Monday, but he dropped in anyway as the staff are clearly all friends, and there he was playing bongos. It was a shame to have to go back to the hotel. Night three different again, blues and folk. Night four they had a couple of costumed dancers leaping about, and leading most of the customers in and out the tables and out into the street in a conga procession. You couldn’t make it up.

Each night the place fills up so that by about 20.00 or 20.30 it is full inside and out, and then they don’t rush, they take your time and you are probably there for up to a couple of hours. And every night we came away happy with the food, the wine and the whole atmosphere. The waiter told us even he doesn’t know how it will be each night, it’s often as much as surprise to him!

The tomato soup is the nicest I have ever had. All the pizzas are made fresh in a wood oven, tossing and spinning the dough high in the air. And the Filet Mignon steak wow.

Don’t go in the evening if you want a quiet conversation over a meal. But go if you want an atmosphere with a potful of happiness and fun.

We give it 5 stars.

We went here for lunch. It was very quite but we loved our meals. We had to wait quite a while for our lunch but other than that it was fantastic. The bolognese was delicious. I really enjoyed this place, which is a little off the main strip.

We stopped here for a late lunch. It was certainly nice that it was open since many restaurants will close in the afternoons between lunch and dinner. They were able to offer most menu items, except for the pizzas since the one waiter was alone and like many other places they do not start up the pizza ovens until dinner time. That worked out fine and we ordered some pasta dishes and one steak with green peppercorn sauce. Service was a little slow, but since we were there at an odd time, that is easy to overlook. The pasta's and the steak were both good, but nothing to rave about.

The patio seemed like it would be nice to sit on. We ended up with a seat near the edge with some nice looking plants. But I had to keep shooing away the bugs and ended up with a number of little bites. Parking is very limited near the restaurant (very typical of the area).

Like I said...who would have thought that this unpretentious little place would have had such great food and service along with entertainment. A couple dozen varieties of hand-tossed pizzas along with some great salads. Just a short walk from our hotel
