My husband and I got married here on May 25. It couldn't have been a better experience. Parco dei principi was the perfect venue for our Scottish-American-Italian wedding. The views are spectacular. Also the staff, especially Samuele and Alessandro were exceptional. It was scary planning a wedding from Texas and never have been to the venue. I was so happy with everything when we arrived. Mr. Nastro, the GM, was so helpful and accommodating. Everything was so professional and I couldnt have been happier! The food and wine was excellent. They thought of things i had forgotten and made me the most fabulous wedding cake! We can't wait to return to Sorrento for our 1 year anniversary. The only negative in my
eyes was the bed. It was a little hard for my taste. The pool and beach were also very nice.

My husband and I went here for part of our honeymoon. We arrived very late - after a horrible day of delays and travel. I forgot that I happened to be wearing a "just married" tanktop. I was trying to relay the story of our bad travel day (without any Italian) and one of the people at the desk asked "true?" (pointing to my shirt) - I said yes and laughed - they asked how I could be laughing when I had such a bad day. I said I am just trying to make the best of it. Within 5 minutes of us getting in our room - the hotel had sent us a plate of a variety of desserts and snacks and a bottle of champagne. We ordered dinner from the room service menu that night - it was expensive but yummy. The breakfast was SO good and you can eat it sitting up on the cliff. It was really really great. We walked from the hotel to downtown Sorrento. The weather was hot - but the long walk was still nice - you could take a taxi though. This hotel was one of the best memories of my trip.

We booked an ocean view for 7 nights. There are two buildings. The people that complained are the ones that stayed in the building along the road. We stayed at the building on the cliff overlooking the sea and on the balcony we had the view of Mt. Vesuvius. The room was large and the view from our balcony was spectacular. They even had electrical shades to keep the morning sun out. The bedding was superb. Linen bedsheets. Breakfast was included and it was very good: bacon, eggs, salmon, cheese, cereals, yogourts, juices, fresh tomatoes, pastries. Coffee was excellent.
Hotel staff was very helpful and very pleasant. The hotel is located in a garden setting. The decor is original. Location was perfect. We enjoyed the pool.
We would definitely go back

Pool and Beach only open June to September even though advertised and pictured in all sales materials. Decor is out of date and hasn't been touched since the hotel was opened in the 1960's. Grass being cut outside at 7am. Waited 10 mins to make an order at bar for a club sandwich which cost €14. Breakfast was awful with little diversity, food not replenished, no cutlery or cups for tea, always having to ask staff for what you would normally expect to have available. Gym locked. Quoted a taxi price to train station of double what we caught a taxi for outside the hotel.
We have stayed at another hotel in this chain during a visit to Venice which was 4 star and was 10 times better. This hotel is no better than a last minute 3 star resort in Egypt or Turkey that just provides a basic room. at least there you would be able to access the beach and pool!!!
When we complained we were just told that we had 27,000 sqaure meters of gardens to enjoy which we found very patrionising

In its favour the restaurants lunch and dinner menu were very nice, although pricey. It also has a beautiful view

Room Tip: Avoid, only 3 star tiled relic with lazy staff

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on TripAdvisor, we are sorry to read that your stay was not up to your expectations.

Pool and beach are certainly advertised and pictured in all sales and marketing materials and of course, being located outdoor, guests can take the opportunity to enjoy them only during the summer season.
We are sorry to hear that you did not appreciate the hotel décor being Hotel Parco dei Principi a masterpiece of contemporary art, designed and built by famous architect Gio Ponti. The hotel is under a continued refurbishment but each part of the property has been kept exactly as it was: all the interiors are original including the majolica tiles, the ceramics and the floors. Gym facility is open 7 days a week, on a 24 hours basis but, in order to have access to it, you need to collect an electronic card at the front desk. As to taxi prices these are directly quoted from taximeter and taxi location, hotel is not responsible for high taxi fair.
At the same time we are very sorry to read of your breakfast experience: I apologise for any disappointment, but please be assured that this does not correspond to the usual context in which our guests stay.

I hope that you will allow us the opportunity to welcome you back to our hotel.

Your sincerely,

Customer Care

We loved our 2 night stay in Sorrento with the great and helpful staff at the Parco dei Principi Hotel. We were treated like honored guests with a room overlooking the sea and the cliffs holding up Sorrento.

We were helped greatly with public transportation and guidance to some of the local color. We would love to return and will recommend it to others.

Location:
Each morning the beautiful view from the breakfast area pays off for the 15 minutes walk to the town center (Circumvesuviana station; 5 minutes more to Piazza Tasso). Taxi would be expensive: 15 Euro to station.
The park with its many parks is a beauty and certainly a very relaxing location in summer.
Rooms:
Rooms have paving stone flooring in traditional patterns. I liked it. Walls are not too noise-proof, but I had mostly quiet neighbours. Very good bed.
Equipment:
Very good (free) WLAN. TV set tiny, only 5 free channels.
Price:
I was there in winter for a very good price, don't know the price-performance ratio at other times.
Leisure:
Hotel has a private beach where the sea meets the cliff and a swimmingpoll in the park on top of the cliff. Both were closed in winter.
Fitness center is there, but I did not use it. Colleague said it would be a windowless room
Service:
Staff is very friendly and helpful. Not perfect: One day I arrived in my room and there was no toilet paper any more. But they brought a new roll immediately.

We have spent many beautiful summers in your hotel. This year we decided to take a break during winter. Service, quality of food, a warm and friendly welcome at the reception were just the same.
The comfort of our room allowed us to relax, the charm of your splendid park revived a romantic atmosphere of past times. The efficiency and professionally of the personnel met all our desires.
Nothing but praise and prompt reservation for this coming summer

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Five-star accommodation and a prime location sat high on the ancient rampart of tufa, the Parco dei Principi is a testament to the timeless creativity of Gio Ponti, one of the most enlightened advocates of Italian architecture of the 20th century.Between the blue sea of Sorrento Coast and the lush greenery of the botanical gardens, Paul Leopold of Bourbon, the princes of Cortchacow and the entourage of the Russian aristocracy fell in love with this incomparable natural scenery, giving it a solemn historical heritage.Minimal atmosphere and space characterises the 96 rooms with original furnishings designed by Gio Ponti and customized specifically for the Hotel: the famous headboard-beds (1948), toilet set 'Vanity' with circular mirrors (1950), the chair 'Lightweight' (Cassina, 1952) and large fitted wardrobes. A variety of ceramic floors - as many as rooms - in shades of blue and white, in antique Majolica D'Agostino from Salerno, to reflect the colours of the sea and sky of Sorrento: moons, circles, triangles, stars and leaves are also used to tell a different story in every room.At the Restaurant Gio Ponti, a spectacular window over the Gulf of Naples and its islands, the day starts with a grand breakfast. Through striking tunnels in the rock, you arrive at the private beach or at the equipped solarium on the cliff. The pier is home during the summer months to the restaurant Poggio Siracusa where you can enjoy the fresh offerings of the sea accompanied by the sounds of the waves below.Among the horizon, the ancient oaks and the rare trees essences of the enormous botanical park, there is a seawater swimming pool designed by Gio Ponti as 'a mirror of water to wood nymphs'.To restore harmony to the body and spirit, guests can access the Fitness & Beauty Center of the Hotel, the charming majolica rooftop terrace with a view, and the marbled terrace of Villa Cortchacow dating back to the eighteenth century, on which the first ballerina performed to the Court of St. Petersburg.Since 2012, the lobby, with the incredible view of the Gulf has hosted the 'Museum of the Opera', an exhibition of original drawings and furniture in the rooms and in the common areas that have marked the history of Italian design. The business center of the hotel offers several meeting rooms with complimentary Wi-Fi and innovative technology: from the classic style of Sedowa hall with a terrace overlooking the sea, to the most modern modular Leonardo hall, surrounded by the garden Bourbon, with a seat capacity of 350. The outdoor areas offer a pleasant alternative for coffee breaks, lunches and dinners.Within the enchanting scenery of Monti Lattari sloping terraces lined with citrus, Parco dei Principi is an excellent location for pleasant walks through the typical craft shops and luxury shopping streets in the center of Sorrento, and for excursions to the nearby Amalfi Coast, the island of Capri and the archaeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum. ... more   less
