“A true foodie's restaurant”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

In the heart of Sorrento, which can be quite touristy, this is a genuinely good restaurant - the guys that run it are passionate about providing good food, and not just making money. There were lots of lovely freebies, from the glass of prosecco to start, the amuse-bouche, the homemade chunks of chocolate, the limoncello, which all make a difference. We had fresh fish on pasta, which was delicious. Totally recommend!

“below average food, so so service”
Reviewed November 9, 2013

The food is not as good as reviews. There are more better choices off the street. For example, Bagni Delfino or L'antica Trattoria.
Just don't go where the tourists are - this is the best strategy to choose the restaurants in anywhere - no matter how highly rated in Tripadvisor - many of them are tourists and this is a place where local people do not go.

“Good fish restaurant”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

Sorrento is a tourist town and as such you do not always anticipate the level of quality and service you receive from places where repeat business defines business success.

Re foods had been recommended by friends and the quality and service were certainly a cut above what you would expect in such a location.

The welcome was warm and the staff were solicitous and detailed in their description of the items on the menu and their recommendations. The restaurant seems to specialise in seafood and be warned that the portions are abundant (those with bigger appetites in our group ended up cleaning the plates of those with smaller stomachs). All the food was fresh and of high quality, not cheap but a location I would be happy to return to.

“Excellent Food - Very Friendly Service”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

We met a young man on our way into Sorrento for the first time to try and find some groceries for our rented villa and get our bearings. This young man was more than helpful and went out of his way to make sure we got where we needed to be and were served properly by the locals.

It turned out that in his quest to help us out, he found himself late for work. We asked him where he worked and he told us that he was a waiter at a local restaurant.

We decided that to thank this man, and to help him out with his boss, we would take our group of six and have dinner at his restaurant. We did not know what we were in for, but his helpfulness was worth taking a chance on a restaurant that we did not know or had not researched.

We followed him into Historic Sorrento, around corners and down the narrow lanes till we got to his restaurant, called "Re-Food" Seemed like an odd name for a restaurant, however when we walked in, it was all done in seventies style retro, with colors of the era and plexi everywhere.

Not exactly what we envisioned in our quest for traditional Italian in Historic Sorrento, however our concerns were soon allayed when they sat us down to one of the best meals any of us have had in a long time.

The seafood was fresh and tasty, the pasta was incredible and the tomato sauce tasted as though they had just picked the tomatoes for it!

An amazing experience. We would go back!!

“Best food in Sorrento!”
Reviewed October 18, 2013

We had three meals here, and wished we'd discovered it earlier so we could have had more. The food was uniformly delicious. Most memorable for me was a starter of deep-fried courgette flowers with ricotta - yum! The waiter recommended a local wine - fanzone - which was also delicious. On our second and third visits we were welcomed back like old friends. We had some variable culinary experiences in Sorrento - this was the best, hands down.
