“not what i expected...”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

we went to this restaurant (the one at the center and not on the shore) only because it was suggested and was so nominated. at the end, if you are not sitting at the entrance court... all the rest of the restaurant is acceptable. the tables underground may soffocate you a little. food, in respect to all others in south italy is also acceptable but is not the best.

“Very Italian atmosphere”
Reviewed October 24, 2012

Very italian local atmosphere - down in a basement, unflattering lighting, tiled floor - AND great service, and fabulous food the pasta with fungi is a must, as is the seafood risotto! The prices are reasonable, too, and we went back to eat there again.

“The best seabass ever!”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

I had to chuckle at the reviews after we'd eaten here. I know exactly the waiter they mean and he is a bit full of himself, but he served us very well indeed.
From photos in foyer, we thought this was seaview. It's not. Photos must be the sister restaurant at the Marina. This is an enclosed dining-room, but that gives it atmosphere too. A mix of locals (the majority) and tourists.
We asked for a wine recommendation and weren't ripped off. He came back to make sure his choice had been a good one!
I ordered seabass and this was a little piece of food theatre as he arrived with the trolley and filleted it quickly and expertly. This waiter is good - but he knows he is! My partner had the scaloppine which were superb.
The dessert trolley looked incredible but we just couldn't!
Definitely the best food we had all week in Sorrento. And I'd say the best seabass I've ever had too, cooked to perfection in a light garlic and wine sauce and cherry tomatoes.
Don't be put off and give this place a try!

“Pasta Carbonara”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

The best I have ever had anywhere--service good-nicely paced--lovely atmosphere! Was recommended by our guide-and she was right-a true Italian experience. Sitting downstairs was cozy.

“Terrible staff, very brusque and dreadful service”
Reviewed October 14, 2012 via mobile

We searched for this place as it had been strongly recommended. It is a lovely proper Italian feeling restaurant. The ceiling in the rear room is decorated with plates, it is fabulous. Their profiteroles were to die for!!

I'm afraid that's where the good stuff ends. I definitely agree with one of the other recent reviews which stated that the staff were dreadful. They really were, they did not want to be there and so they wanted customers even less! They kept standing together, yawning, looking at their watches blatantly ignoring the customers. We had to chase them down for coffee and dessert. Thankfully the profiteroles were worth the trouble, but nothing else was.

This place was overpriced too. Would not send my worst enemy here!!
