I recently traveled to Sorrento (via Roma) with a friend. We are both Hilton Honors members, but the Hilton Sorrento was unfortunately booked during the days we were there. There were many choices to make, but there was something about Maison Tofani that was interesting. Though the photos online tell a decent story, there is much more to take-in when you see the place in person.

It was an easy walk from the train station, which was nice after having sat on the Circumvesuviana from Napoli. Via San Cesareo is a street just behind the clock in the main piazza. It is full of shops --souvenirs, leather goods, limoncello, etc. As I walked down, I assumed the hotel would be just off the street and I started to worry that the location would be a bit annoying from the buzzy street business. But it was not at all like that. Once you enter into the property, it's almost as if you've entered your own personal mini-mansion. The staff was welcoming, quick with check-in (and check-out), and a porter whisked our bags off to our room. We booked the loft room with a terrace (top floor).

The room was perfect -size was not too small nor too big. Bathroom was spacious, and everything was clean and comfortable. The terrace was a nice addition, too, and over-looked the rooftops of the area with the sea off in the distance; made for a perfect morning vista. Just outside out room was the rooftop solarium with sunbeds, a shower for cooling off during the hot Sorrento summers, and an additional elevated platform where you could see Mt. Vesuvius in the distance.

The breakfast is definitely amazing, and well worth the price. We missed it one morning because of an early port of call time to head to Capri, but the other two mornings we were able to enjoy the tasty and filling breakfast in a most beautifully decorated room. The ceiling was adorned with colorful frescoes; it made you feel like you were definitely dining in a stately room. And the service was top notch. Staff would greet us, and make small talk --which was nice. We would ask questions to help brush up on our poor Italian, or ask about the local scene and best places for food, drinks and other things.

I would definitely return to Sorrento as I found something about it more charming than even Positano (which is gorgeous, don't get me wrong). Though part of me would want to opt for a seaside resort, I would most likely return to Maison Tofani because it is centrally located, comfortable, and the people who work there are great. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Room Tip: The terrace floor was actually nice as it was a decent distance from the busy street level, so you won't get too much noise.

I was shocked while car's GPS guided the address, cause there's no way car can approach the hotel!! however, hotel provides well-considered valet service. the staff helped all car and lugges related matters, and we just enjoyed us in the beautiful room with cute balcony. Don't miss the breakfast, the very kind staff remembered the seat and drink we liked. we feel very touched during the stay. definitely will choose the hotel when we return to sorrento.

We were so pleased with our experience and hope to definitely return to Maison Tofani. First, from the porters coming to the square to lead us down the road to find the hotel, thank you! The staff is super friendly and answer ALL your questions! This place was definitely so relaxing and wonderful from our super comfy bed and loft room with small terrace, to being just around the corner from the rooftop terrace open to all guests. I would definitely recommend the loft room as easy to get to rooftop terrace and you can watch all the amazing sunsets here, plus views of Mount Vesuvius. Plus they have an outdoor shower, which we used in the evenings to take sunset showers, with bathing suits on of course! Location is walking distance to EVERYTHING. We thoroughly enjoyed all the staff, including the resident cats on property! Breakfast was delicious, the ricotta cheese is a must. There is a lift (elevator) for those worried about getting their luggage up. Can't say enough good things about this beautiful property!!!!

Room Tip: Loft room had own small terrace, as well as right next to door to large rooftop terrace.

Our group of 8 adults (parents with older teens) stayed in three rooms which took over the entire 2nd floor of the hotel. The extra beds in the triple rooms were very comfortable and large enough for our 6ft tall teens. The breakfast was amazing and the waiters brought us special dishes once they knew which items we enjoyed most. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful.
The location is great and in the a pedestrian street with tons of shops and restaurants. The parking garage that shuttled us into the piazza was convenient and efficient. I would stay here again for sure.
