Firstly Giovani and his staff were so helpful and our arrival and departure were perfect.
As the Maison is situated above the main shopping street I thought it would be noisy, but thankfully this was not the case.
Breakfast in the amazing dining room is so special as the ceiling looks like a Michelangelo masterpiece.
The Maison has already been recommended to friends and we will certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: Our junior suite was just right, situated on 1st floor

Rooms - Huge for European rooms, and super high ceilings which is great. It is on a busy street, but there are thick doors that close over the windows that block the noise extremely well.

Service - Can't say enough about Giovanni and the staff at Maison Tofani. I was emailing Giovanni with questions regularly about Sorrento and the Amalfi coast months in advance and he was always extremely helpful.

Location - Perfectly located in the middle of the historic area of Sorrento where there are no cars allowed during the day. No sea view, but I was just as happy sitting on my balcony watching all the action below on the bustling street.

Activities - My wife and I did the semi-private boat tour of Capri through the hotel. It was absolutely amazing. I was a bit worried it would be a cookie cutter boat tour of Capri, but this was totally different. You are traveling in the speed boat of the owner of Maison Tofani, and they limit the count to 10 (we only had 6 which was great).

We just came back from a 3 night stay at Maison Tofani. Its a fantastic place right in the heart of Sorrento but is still surprisingly quiet given the location. The room was very comfortable (we had a 'family room') and Giovanni was a great host. He really is vested in this place and wants to make sure everything goes well. We were initially looking at one of the cliffside hotels which have great views, but they are a bit out of the way compared to this place. Ultimately I think we made the right decision. I highly recommend this place.

My husband and I were in Sorrento in February this year for a short break to celebrate his birthday. We were also there during Valentine's day and it was a nice treat to find a cake with a heart-shaped decoration in our room. Sweet! We had a room that faced the pedestrian street – which made it quite lively (it was nice to be able to open the balcony door and look out) and it wasn't too noisy so that was OK. High ceilings in our room, so it felt light and airy.

The hotel has a little roof terrace which is a nice touch – I can see that being quite a sun trap when the weather is good. As most people have mentioned, Giovanni is really helpful and patient with all the questions we had. The breakfast is good and the breakfast room is impressive. It was too cold to sit outside in the mornings and if it's busy you might have to wait your turn for a table (we only had to do that once).

We were obviously there during the low season and most of the restaurants were still shut – most things only open at the end of February (something to bear in mind). But we quite enjoyed it because it meant all the touristy places were quieter.

Around Sorrento:
We took the ferry to Capri – worth booking ahead esp in the peak season
On out last day, we booked a taxi (the hotel can arrange this for you) which took us to Herculaneum – we almost had the whole place to ourselves and is definitely worth doing. You need a good 2 hours there. The taxi driver also took us to a local vineyard for some lunch and wine-tasting (nice!)

Maison Tofani in Sorrento is a great place to base for a visit to the Amalfi coast. The owner of the Hotel is present and very active in making sure your stay is all that you envision. Maison Tofani is located on a cobble stone street in the market area of Sorrento. This was so fun you are right in the middle of everything but the hotel itself was very quiet. Beginning with our greeting by Giovanni Fiorentino to our departure box breakfast put in our room for our 5am check out, this place was the best!! Giovanni is like having our own private tour guide. He told us exactly what to do based on our likes which made our trip so perfect!!
From Sorrento you can take ferries to Positano, Capri and Amalfi town. We rented a scooter on Capri and a boat in Marina Grande to see the Amalfi coast from the Sea instead of via the bus clogged road. All arranged by Giovanni. The continental breakfast that is included is more like a Sunday brunch. This was absolutely fantastic, fresh fruits (the pears were awesome), fresh pastries, cakes, flan, eggs, bacon, sausage, lots of breads to choose from, several fresh juices, cheeses, salami, prosciutto, really great cappuccino, and much more. This is worth $25pp easily.
This location is only a couple of blocks from the bus and train station. Walk out the hotel and you are in the middle of all of the fun that Sorrento has to offer.
Recommended ristorante Il Delfino & Emilia's in the Marina area, both serving fantastic local fresh fish.
We stayed in the family suite because it was the last room they had when I booked the reservation. It has a king bed and a little sitting room, a kitchenette and nice bathroom. FYI this room has a very small window. I would not normally not like such a dark room but it really worked great for us because it was so quiet being on the interior of the hotel. It has an extra fold out bed for a child (family suite). The rooms that I saw were nice and bright with windows or balconies overlooking the market area.
Great locations, fantastic breakfast, wonderful owner, great tour guide Giovanni and all for a very reasonable price!!

We stayed two days at this place. Prior to this I communicated with Mr. Giovanni for almost two months planning the trip. He was very helpful in arranging trips - pick up from train station, visits to Naples, Pompeii, Amalfi coast and Capri, and drop off to Naples.
Hotel room was very nice - good sized for four - great breakfast - helpful staff.
We had forgotten to take out a purse with money from the locker and check out in the morning. The staff found it and it and gave it to us in the afternoon. What an honest and great place to stay!
