The wait staff is snobby, rude and act as if you are inconveniencing them by eating at there restaurant. Not helpful with the menu and unwilling to accommodate menu requests (being a vegetarian). After the food was dropped off no one bothered to see if we needed anything else (our drinks sat empty for an hour), even though they wet amply staffed... Plenty of better places to go, don't even waste your time!

Ate here last night. The same family own all three restaurants next to one another. Waiter very abrupt, pushing us to place an order before we had finished reading the menu. Very forceful about no Pizza sharing. The couple next to us got up and left for that reason. When we received the bill the waiter said " small bill big tip", needless to say we were not impressed. Overall the food was OK. I would recommend going somewhere else were the behave as if they want your business and treat you accordingly.

Walked Out Disgusted!
Having eaten at close to a thousand restaurants over 25 years of travel to every continent, and therefore with a rich source [sauce?] of comparisons to draw on, we stress that this is the first time we have ever walked out of a restaurant before tasting the food!
Best to start at the beginning. We had researched restaurants in Sorrento as part of our pre-travel planning for our just completed 2 months European holiday. This restaurant received a positive reference in, from memory, ‘Italian Gourmet Traveller’ so seemed a good bet. As we often do we decided to book and walked to P. Tasso late morning [21 Sep]. The staff were setting up & our booking was accepted for 7.30 pm - Yes, Mr William, that will be fine.
A beautiful evening; we arrived on time. Ah, Mr William, your special table is over here, gushes the waiter. Good start. However, we did comment to each other about the ‘special’ nature of the table as it wasn’t, just a table, tucked into a corner, one chair hard up against a steel pole - but, so what.
The menus and extensive wine list arrived, aqua minerale naturale was ordered, and we discussed the extensive choices. As is our custom we like to try a number of local specialities and often order two, sometimes even three, small dishes to share & compare before we tackle a main course each. After all, that’s one of the joys of a dining experience.
As we sipped on our water we decided this menu warranted a similar approach. The waiter returned and the fatal ordering process began
Me: First, we’ll share this pizza...
Him: [very sharply with accompanying negative body language]: No sharing!
Me: [no doubt looking very taken aback] Pardon? We’d like to sample some dishes so we’ll start with this pizza...
Him: [Another abrupt & rude interruption, waiter becoming very aggressive & loud, leaning over] Sharing not permitted! You cannot share in my restaurant.
Me: But...
Him: [now very loud, extraordinarily rude, as well as patronising & condescending] See, here... [repeatedly jabs finger on left side of the menu I’m holding] ...see, it says so. “Pizza for one person”. It says so - in English!!
Wow! Have we been told! We look at each other. The menu is closed firmly. We look at the waiter & ask [in Italian!] the cost of the water and leave the Euro coins on the table. As we rise from our seats we utter a firm No, Grazie! and depart.
We will defend the right of chefs to decide how a dish is cooked & presented; and to advise diners of their intentions and policies [eg to decline to overcook meat] but we have never come across a restaurant that bans sharing their dishes. How astonishing! Perhaps they have never travelled to Asia where it is considered odd not to share dishes! Or maybe they don’t have family dinners?
Clearly they do not expect diners to return. An amazing experience which we shared with the hotel owner later that evening, and who no doubt mentioned our experiences to others.
By the way, two other restaurants we ate at whilst in Sorrento were delightful - La Lanterna and L’Abate - we are pleased to recommend them.

Family run business, in the heart of Tasso square, always packed out so can be difficult to get a table, service prompt, can feel a little squashed in there so lots of knocking into chairs when people are walking around to get to tables etc
We had a pasta dish that was very pleasant but nothing earth shattering... I would eat here again, but there are plenty more places to try out so wouldn't kill myself to get back there!

We ate here on two nights in October 2012. We had a table outside and there was a great atmosphere, service was excellent and friendly and food was also very nice. Second night, after meal, it rained heavily - the waiter popped out and gave us an umbrella to help us get back to our hotel without getting soaked ( when we advised we were leaving next day and could not return it we were waived away with a smile - nice). If we go to Sorrento again we will eat in the Aurora, perhaps even returning the umbrella!
