“Beautiful Gardens”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

We were enticed to come in for a late lunch by the lovely gardens, lots of different seating areas, a hammock, bean bags, beautiful trees, very lovely. The food is decent, nothing special but a salad or pasta is only about 6-8 euros. Coffee was great, cheap too. The service is pretty terrible... there were only about three tables seated when we went with two waiters who stood doing nothing, and just far enough from the tables that you couldn't get their attention.

I would suggest coming here after lunch or in the afternoon for a coffee or drink relaxing in the quiet gardens.

We did actually go here twice to be fair, the second time was worse than the first and we seemed to be surrounded by other customers who were having various reactions to poor service. The food was ok, not fantastic but cheap. The service was not really engaging at best and incompetent at worst. On our first visit, it was the drinks that were wrong on our second both drinks and food. We had to ask more than once for the to correct things. Others seemed to be having a similar experience though were more vocal than us. From talking to locals it seems to come alive at night where it is a watering hole for the youngsters. The garden is nice and this could be a lovely place if they improved the food and service. A place to avoid if you're after a magical afternoon, ok if it's hot, you just want a it down and some ok pizza for cheap.

The hotel is in a beautiful old villa surrounded by a huge garden. You can enjoy a very good meal or just relax in the garden. The Artis Domus is close to everything. If you plan an excursion by train or bus or ferry you can walk to the stations, the lift which takes you down to the beach is just 3 minutes away. The hotel is at the end of Sorrento's one of the most lively streets full with little shops, bars and gelateria.Though it has central location it is very quiet. The rooms are exceptionally huge, with a well equipped kitchen-sitting room and the terrace belonging to the apartment is even bigger.
I have traveled a lot around Campania and have been on more occasions in Sorrento but this hotel is absolutely the best value.

Room Tip: Instead of numbers the rooms have names. I stayed in A Prevola. I liked it very much, it is an apart...

Recently back from Sorrento and lunched here on 2 occasions. Very good food and wine here at a fair price. Lunching under orange and lemon trees is hard to beat. Service friendly enough. A little gentle background music would have made it even more pleasant. Highly recommended.

This bed and breakfast has several rooms on different levels and has elevator access to each floor once inside the building. There are a few steps leading up to the entrance and elevator. I didn't notice if the steps could be avoided by any ramps. The exterior grounds are very nice with comfortable lounging areas and an exterior restaurant. It has a very nice atmosphere for dining and they serve dinner late in the night to about 11 PM. They also hosted some sort of party which had a lot of children. The children from this party (young age) played in the yard past midnight yelling and screaming during their game right underneath some of the windows of the guest rooms. It was far too loud to be hosting a party of this sort if you are running a hotel where people are sleeping.

The room we stayed in was nice but did not have laundry machines as one person indicated. The air conditioner was not working properly and made for a very hot first night until it was fixed the next day. The pull out bed was surprisingly comfortable, if you like firm beds, but did not have linens. We had to call to have linens brought up for all of the pull out beds. They knew we were coming but the room was not prepared for us. When they brought the linens they just dropped them off so we had to make our own beds. Not a big deal really but i would not have expected that. The floor is a nice ceramic tile but who knows when it was last cleaned. It appears to be clean but as soon as you start walking around the room, your feet quickly become filthy as if you were walking outside on the street.

I personally did not eat at the restaurant but those in my party who did said the food was real good. The restaurant was busy most every night during our stay so it must be good.

The hotel is in a great location of Sorrento with easy walking to all of the shopping areas and restaurants. Some of the hotel rooms can accommodate several people to make it more affordable. In all it wasn't a bad place to stay, we just had some hiccups in the beginning that gave us a sour taste. Depending on the circumstances, I might stay here again.

Some great area restaurants included: Blue Water Restaurant and Ristorante Sorrento. A good nearby morning coffee and pastry shop is Venerusso.

We were given a flier for the restaurant but didn't find it on our first visit into Sorrento, on our second we were walking back from the old fishing marina and luckily another young lady was again giving out fliers. We went into the gardens which were lovely and cooling. The lunch was great, my wife had pizza and i had squid and prawns, all washed down with a good bottle of wine. Good service and reasonable cost. worth finding for a relaxing lunch. Sorry, cannot comment on the hotel side.
