“Magi House Sorrento - Superb!!”
Reviewed October 11, 2013

We just had the absolute pleasure of staying at the Magi House in Sorrento for 4 nights, what a wonderful B&B. The rooms are so clean and well appointed, better than most, the best B&B we saw in Italy. The location is second to none and the staff are all incredibly helpful and also very wonderful people. From the Owner Mariano to the concierge Roberta, the cook Anna ... nothing but incredible service, full of information to make your stay a better experience, and just simply down to earth great people who care!!

I recommend this B&B to anyone visiting the Amalfi coast in Italy.

We just finished a three night stay at Magi House and have nothing but good things to say about the experience. From the outset, we received prompt and courteous service from Roberta regarding any questions we had about the booking.

Upon check-in, we learned that another couple who were traveling with their baby had initially booked into the Vesuvio Apartment. Vesuvio is a great space but not appropriate if one would like to set up a cot in the sleeping loft as space is limited. As such, they were placed into our initial first choice (Mediterranea Apartment - it's the one with the glass floor) for one night. For the inconvenience, Magi House offered us a bottle of wine and a reduction on the total.

For our next two nights, we moved into our initial choice - Mediterranea Apartment. This space is brighter and bigger than Vesuvio (which is still gorgeous) and is just as depicted in the website photos. As other reviewers have mentioned, from this apartment you can hear and fully understand conversations at the front desk. Not a huge issue as we were typically out during the day.

Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Barbara did a wonderful job with preparation. In comparison with what one might pay for breakfast in Sorrento, Magi House offers excellent value. In addition to the standard espresso and brioche, options include pancakes, toast, ham, cheese, fruit salad, fresh fruit, freshly squeezed juice (from local oranges!), eggs and cereal.

Overall, we had a great visit to Sorrento and would recommend Magi House.

Never before have we experienced the warmth, efficiency and dedication to service like we did at the Magi House. From the time of our arrival, we were made to feel at home by Roberta, the concierge, who took care of us like family visiting from abroad. Roberta truly wanted us to have the best experience possible. She was sweet and attentive and extremely knowledgeable and her obvious love for her job seems to be only second to her genuine love of people!
We also enjoyed the pleasure of Barbara's breakfasts on the beautiful rooftop terrace with views of Mount Vesuvius off to the distance. Each morning, Barbara catered to our breakfast wishes and put on a delectable display of fresh croissants, fruit, pancakes, etc. and made eggs to order and cappuccinos dusted with cocoa!
Our room, the Penthouse, was a vision! Two levels, including an efficient, modern kitchen and a beautifully decorated bedroom and bath on the lower level with our own private terrace. The only downside of the Penthouse is we are light sleepers and would be awoken by the breakfast preparation outside on the rooftop terrace.
The location of the Magi House is ideal. It is central to the city's great restaurants and water views and a 5-10 minute walk to the train station.
Magi House is beautiful with beautiful people making your stay even more memorable.

Roberta, the concierge is a lovely, extraordinarily helpful, kind young woman. She made us feel so welcome and helped us with everything, making dinner reservations, recommending a boat excursion to Capri and arranging cars for us. Barbara, who prepares the breakfast was also a sweetheart and makes a wonderful cappuccino. We met the owner too who is as kind and friendly as everyone he has hired. The location is perfect, close to everything and easy to access. Our rooms were nice, the bathroom was adequate.

Room Tip: I heard that the Penthouse was beautiful but not great for sleeping because of noise from roof terra...

Our stay at Magi House was second to none for genuine, enthusiastic service during our recent first time trip to Italy. We stayed in the Penthouse apartment and found everything in perfect order. It was very clean and decorated with a lovely modern vibe. The ambience was cozy and inviting. It was so nice to get up in the morning and head right outside our door to enjoy a great breakfast that offered many choices. Barbara served our coffees up in style, always with a smile on her face. The staff were genuinely interested in assuring our stay was everything we wanted it to be and were always available to help us book tours or give us information. Roberta in particular was the sweetest young lady we have ever had the privilege of meeting. Her cheerfulness was contagious and we always looked forward to seeing her every morning. We would definitely recommend this B&B to our fellow travellers. We seriously doubt you would be disappointed!

The friendliness of the staff and the owners was second to none. The rooms are very comfortable, everything works in the rooms. Breakfast was cooked with love.

The hotel is located in the pedestrian zone in Sorrente.
From the hotel there are about 100 to the elevator that leads directly to the bathing area.
Costs one euro, best buys you a travel card.
Immediately adjacent to the private booth, which costs a lot, we find the public beach. Who wants to save, you can use this

Dear Mrs and Mr Klaus,

Thank you very very much to have saved your time to speak about your experience at Magi House.
As you have said we are very close to the beach, only 50 meters far from the lift that connect the city center to the sea. So choose Magi House mean be very close to everythings: port, bus/train station, the main square, shops, restaurants... So we can say that we are in the ideal location if you are looking for a confortable base in Sorrento, to relax and visit the best part of our splendid area.
We thank you very much to have shared your picture with all the trip advisor members; our guests photos can truly tell how beautiful is our roof terrace prepared for breakfast time.

We also thank you to have said "everythings works in our room", this is very important for us that our guests can have a satellite tv, hairdryer, telephone, air conditioning, mini fridge, a stereo, safe box, fast wirless connection and all the conforts that works. Every day a member of the staff check all the rooms before check-in time, to be sure that our guests won't be disappointed about nothing.
Waiting your return in Sorrento we thank you once again to choosing us,
Kindest regards

Mariano and Magi House Staff

My fiance and I recently stayed in the Penthouse Apartment at Magi House in Sorrento. We traveled to Sorrento by the Circumvensuviana from Naples, and Magi was only about a five minute walk from the train station. Located on a fairly quiet street in the historical part of the town, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the B&B was fully renovated and was quite modern.

The Penthouse apartment was located on the top floor of the building (elderly or handicapped guests, beware - there are about 3 flights of stairs and no elevator from what we saw). The entrance to the apartment was in the back of the roof deck (solarium), which made it nice and private. Upon entering, there is a small kitchenette with a stovetop, mini fridge, and sink, as well as utensils; although we didn't cook in the apartment, we thought it was a nice touch. My fiance is quite tall, though, so he hit his head a few times on the very short ceiling. Walk down the stairs and there is a nice large bedroom, bathroom, and private terrace, where we enjoyed our breakfast one morning and champagne in the evening.

The first night we arrived, Mariano (owner) helped us book a reservation at Marameo Beach club for dinner. He was very nice throughout our stay, always smiling and asking us how everything was. The staff also helped us book a car to our next destination, Positano. The price was good (65 Euro), although I think we could have worked them down to 55-60. Breakfast on the solarium was delicious (I would opt for this rather than having it in your room, which costs extra).

A few things we weren't so happy with:
- the room was very dusty, which didn't bode so well with our allergies
- bed was okay - not great
- satellite TV had 3-4 channels that worked? what's the point?
- ants ants ants - all over the bathroom
- towels were very thin and shower didn't have a curtain/door so water soaked through the bathmat
- we could hear EVERYTHING from the roof deck starting at 7AM when they began setting up for breakfast - not great if you want to sleep in a bit

Other than these few things, we were very pleased with our stay at Magi House and we would definitely recommend it to our friends.

Room Tip: Penthouse Apartment has a lovely terrace that is nice and private and perfect for evening drinks or...

MagiMario, Owner at Magi House Relais, responded to this review, September 27, 2013
Dear Emma,
We thank you very much for taking out your precious time to write a review on tripadvisor.com
We are proud to hear that you had a great stay at Magi House. As you said you have chosen the “Penthouse” apartment.
It is the most romantic that we have, because it has a private terrace and independent entrance from the roof terrace. As you know all the penthouses have a sloping ceiling; in our “ Penthouse” the ceiling sloops down only in the Kitchenette area where the shortest height measure 1,80 meters. We think that it can be a very good compromise having also the possibility to have a private terrace where enjoy your intimate moments . You can confirm it because we remember very well the morning that we have served you breakfast out on your private terrace . We just want to clarify this remark because the apartments are sold with the breakfast not included, only for the reason that these are equipped with independent micro wave oven, kitchenette and utensils. We are happy that you appreciate this touch.
Anyway we gave you the possibility to have an unlimited and wide breakfast included for 7 euros. You have paid only for this , we’ve never charged a supplement for a room service to anyone.

As you said, we are located in 18th century building; it is true that we don’t have the lift but consider that our building has just two floors, so only two flights of stairs. We well know that can be a fault for this reason we have in charge a member of the staff to carry the luggages through the stairs.
We are sorry that you heard noise in the morning but we usually pay attention not to disturb anyone. We promise that we will continue to be careful but we can’t promise on behalf of the bars that surrounding our relais. Also when we put our selection of ibiscus flowers in each bathroom (a little special touch to welcome our guests) it can happen that there are a few hidden ants , we will be more careful also with these.

Magi house provides all rooms with glass shower stall and we have a very high water pressure so it can happened when the water is opened to its maximum that SOME water hits the floor.

About the dust in your room, we apologize if you had problem for your health, when we finish the daily cleaning in the room we will be more attentive to leave the windows closed in order to avoid dust to come back inside.
Finally we would like to thank you for your advice, because is only with your opinion that we will improve our services and the level of satisfaction of our future guests.
Hoping to have you again at Magi House Relais, Kind regards
Mariano
