Magi House Relais
Ranked #5 of 142 Sorrento B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed October 29, 2012

I travelled to Sorrento with a girl friend in September. We used Magi House as our home base for 5 nights as we explored the Amalfi Coast.

We booked via email. Responses were prompt and in english, and everything was exactly as requested when we arrived.

Mariano, Miriam and the whole team were absolutely wonderful.

We booked the "Penthouse" and had it set up with separate beds. The rooms are every bit as lovely as they look on the website, and the roof top garden is the most wonderful bonus.

There is no lift, so be prepared to take the stairs. There is plenty of assistance with bags, so no worries there.

Honour system is used for wine and spirits, just fill out a slip of paper ~ homemade breakfasts every day, served by Mariano himself!

The location is minutes from everything you could want to do, and located on one of the nicer streets in all of Sorrento. Great atmosphere.

Just a lovely B&B where you meet the other guests, and feel very comfortable.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to even the fussiest client!

Room Tip: The Penthouse is very private, has its own terrace and almost exclusive use of the Roof Top terrace.

We spent 4 wonderful nights at Magi House and used Sorrento as our base to explore the Amalfi coast. Mariano, Miriam and the rest of the team were charming hosts. We loved having a very good homemade breakfast (compliment of Miriam and Mariano's mom) every morning on their lovely rooftop garden patio. Mariano gave us many great suggestions and recommended visiting the town of Ravello, located just north of the town of Amalfi. Ravello turned out to be our favorite town from the 5 that we visited in the region! We had lunch at Ristorante Garden, a very good restaurant (Mariano's suggestion) with a fantastic view of the sea.

As one reviewer mentioned, we found the bed a little on the firm side but Mariano added some extra padding and all was well. Otherwise, the room was very well decorated and clean. The location of Magi House is perfect: quiet street with lots of good restaurants within walking distance. Magi House also offers parking service if you happen to come with a car. They will bring your car to you as needed.

My wife and I toured Italy for 5 weeks and we agreed that Sorrento and the Amalfi coast area was our favorite (Venice was a close second). We also agree that the hospitality offered by Magi House was one of the best we ever received. We look forward to returning one day soon.

We spent 2 nights in 'Magi House' in Sorrento and we were very happy with it. The room (Dominova) was lovely, exactly as we saw it in the pictures when we booked it. The staff very helpful and the owner, who's also in charge of the breakfast, was willing to satisfy any desire we had. The B&B is in a perfect location: in the historic center of Sorrento, one minute to the port from where we were able to catch the boat to Capri, and nearby all the attractions Sorrento can offer, including the best restaurants.
One bad note on the room: walls are very thin and we were able to listen to all the noise the other guests we making, especially the kids in the room close to ours who were screaming and yelling all the time. I must say that to me, this was quite disturbing.

My wife and I spent 6 wonderful days exploring the Amalfi coast, using the Magi House as a base. It was perfect - Naples a half hour away by boat, Ravello an hour by scooter. Mariano and his team were the perfect hosts, always attentive, and their attention to detail is second to none.
The rooms are chic, spotless and comfortable, and the patio on the roof is the perfect place for breakfast - we never left feeling hungry. The hotel is well situated in Sorrento - walking is the best way to get around. Honestly couldn't ask for anything more. Looking forward to a return trip.

Room Tip: Mediterrano room has no balcony as it's a street level.

We stayed for 3 days in the penthouse apartment at the Magi House. The service was lovely and the apartment was clean, with a beautiful patio. If I had to make a recommendation, I'd recommend purchasing new towels, as the ones we had were a little rough and looked a bit old. The bed was hard too; however, this wasn't as much a problem for me as my friend. All in all good trip!

average rooms, Ikea styling, towels changed every other day, sheets every three days, VERY uncomfortable bed and pillows, nice terrace area, OK continental breakfast, pleasant Owner and PHENOMENAL jack of all trades assistant. Day time desk clerk needs a personality adjustment (Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde), nighttime clerk was much better. We stayed in the penthouse and the loft apartment. Watch your head if over 5 foot 10 in the penthouse suite and wear the ear plugs if staying in the apartment/loft as it is right next to the front desk and any all conversations can be heard, trust that the reciprocal is the same.

Magi House was a highlight of our trip! Mariano and his staff made our stay wonderful. The rooms are beautiful and modern to meet all your needs. Magi house is in the heart of Sorrento but quiet and relaxing! Breakfasts on the terrace were delicious and wish our stay could have been longer! Hope to return soon!!
