What a find a lovely clean and friendly hotel that provides a lovely base for a break on sorrento. Room spotless well serviced with attentive staff and generous breakfast. We will return! Public areas are immaculate and palatial. We have stayed at much poorer so called 4 star establishments!

I had a single room, great staff even when I had a few issues and wanted to extend my stay and lost something. Great location but would like to have known about the side road I could have taken to avoid steps down from Via Roma. Breakfast was good but pool and gym cost extra. It was a great base for exploring the Amalfi coast and ancient sites (Pompeii). Don't be fooled by the name hostel it is nothing like a hostel!

We stayed just one night and they happily moved us to a room with better views of the cliffs etc. but the shutter was broken - a couple of hours later a repair man came to fix it and the manager spent an hour helping all was done in good spirits. When we left we accidentally left a shopping bag in the side room where guests leave bags. We travelled to Capri before we noticed but a couple of emails later it has been recovered and if all goes to plan they are going to deliver it to the ferry port where it will be transported to capri for us to collect this evening. Overall you mustn't be put off by the name hostel ulisse is far better than many 3-4star hotels. The rooms are large clean modern with firm comfortable beds and high quality furnishings. Breakfast was a little disappointing having read many other good reviews - reasons: juice was a watered down concentrate spreads mostly cheap varieties coffee out of a machine looked like bean to cup but was actually weak instant. Staff were brilliant again though as they happily got us americano and espresso from the bar for no cost. Tinned fruit was available but in a very sweet syrup bread choices and pastries and meats cheese and eggs was all good. But overall the outstanding element here was the smiling happy and friendly staff throughout from the manager to the cleaners I've honestly never seen better even in places where you could add a zero to the cost!! It is also a short walk to the beach which is pretty and sandy quite small mostly locals and with several beachside restaurants. We were recommended to 'soul and fish' but the food was disappointing and not good value. The next day we eat at the next door restaurant due to free sunbeds and fabulous decked and shaded area. We were told by the old lady outside that I could have grilled sardines 'yes we have everything' she said. We wanted to sunbathe for a while before lunch but after an hour she called us saying the kitchen was about to close. Although the food was ok and reasonably priced she had lied about the sardines as they don't do them and also people were arriving an hour after we were finishing and being served. It was irritating being taken advantage of so I hope that puts you off going. The service was also very poor lackadaisical and unwelcoming and when we questioned the cover charge of 4 euros as we were not offered bread olives olive oil or water we were told it was for the tablecloth!! Needless to say we left no tip!

Back to ulisse though it's great value a short walk from the main town around 500 metres from the square and about the same to the beach I would thoroughly recommend it I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

This is a great location to get to know the local people and culture. It is just a 5 minute walk from the Hostel to the town of Sorrento and literally a 10 minute walk in the other direction to a little fishing village with a character all its own. Lots of touring options. The Amalfi Coast tour is dramatic and wonderful. The Hostel is outstanding in all aspects- customer service, amenities etc. Full breakfast, good size rooms, full bath in each room, clerks all speak English, they even let me use the hostel's computer to book train tickets although they have good wifi. The entire staff are pleasant and look to your needs.

I've stayed here in 2011 and have chosen to stay here again when I came back last June. A wonderful place to stay away from home! It is more of a hotel than a hostel. The location is close enough to the Circumvesuviana train station, markets and restaurant. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The beds are very comfortable. The breakfast is excellent (they have the yummiest and tastiest cherry tomatoes and sweet croissants) and the breakfast room is bright, colourful and big. What made this place perfect is the hospitality of the staff, from management to housekeeping. They are all very courteous, polite and helpful. They will bend backwards to make your stay as happy and as pleasant as possible. Guiseppe, Chiara and Emma have been so caring, accommodating and attentive. Thank you so much for the "welcome back" gift you left inside the room when I arrived. That was such a beautiful thing to do :) Thank you for making my trip back to Sorrento a wonderful memory. I had the best time ever! I highly recommended this place!

My husband was worried when he heard the word hostel, but he was pleasantly surprised when we got to the hotel. Staff absolutely fabulous, friendly and helpful! Room was extremely large and roomy, bathroom also roomy and clean! Breakfast staff also extremely nice and very nice selection of items included for breakfast-fruit, yogurt, cakes, eggs, ham, rolls and pastries. Would definitely stay here again (would love to be able to do Sorrento again!) Hotel is about 15/20 minute walk from train station- but with our luggage and young son we opted for taxi. Took tours to Capri and toured Pompeii. Hotel has spa attached which one may access at additional fee- wish I had tried the spa, but pool was nice. Wonderful Experience!

We stayed at Ulisse for 8 days while visiting Sorrento and the Amalfi coast. This is not a hostel - don't let the name fool you. Large rooms by European standards, large bathroom. Excellent breakfast available daily. Chiara is a standout - she always made sure we had the best information to make our decisions on what to do each day. The location is great - easy walk to anywhere. The old town is full of restaurants and shopping and the marinas are both an easy walk. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone (and will!)
