Hotel Marina Riviera
Ranked #3 of 29 Hotels in Amalfi
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed October 2, 2012

Looking at the pictures and the age of the hotel we had doubts about the quality of this hotel compared to others we had booked around the world. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted, bags sent to an awaiting room and the staff showed the features of the room. The room had the best view in Amalfi from both the balcony and the spa the room was large enough with good clean amenities.Unlike a lot of european hotels who over promise and under deliver the Marina Riviera was the opposite and delivered a truly wonderful holiday experience. Pool and breakfast are both excellent and the staff ensure that your stay is comfortable and relaxing. My only critisism is the beds need an upgrade. However the highlight of our trip was staying in Amalfi and the surprise that was the Marina Riviera.

Room Tip: We only stayed in double deluxe with balony and sea view (room56) and it was excellent

Celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary here. The room was absolutely exquisite: the bedding, sheets, and mattress were first class. And the view from our private balcony was other-worldly. The bath, shower, and sink area were what you would find in a 4 star American hotel, instead of what we've found in Europe elsewhere. Each morning at breakfast, which was included, they offfered fresh tomatoes, four or five types of fruiit, prosciuto, carpaccio, toast, muffins, coffee, omelettes. Easily, I would pay $35. for that breakfast. Amalfi itself is beautiful, but in a way that's different than Positano. Positano is more museum like, and the prices reflect it. And so is Capri. But Amalfi is as beautiful in its own way, but gives you more the flavor of what Italy is really like.

After booking a different hotel and being totally disappointed we were fortunate enough to find a helpful concierge who had rooms for us at the Riviera. All I can say is: great room, great view, great staff, great breakfast, great location. Can't say enough about the staff -- from top to bottom -- all were courteous, welcoming, friendly, helpful, efficient and just all around lovely people. Kudos to a great hotel for making our greatest vacation even greater.

Room Tip: Because of our last minute move from an inferior hotel, we had to change rooms near end of stay. Bot...

With the work that I do, most years I spend more nights in hotel rooms than at home. And the companies I work for always put me in 4 or 5 star hotels. Even with all that as "competition", this hotel is an absolute stand-out. LOCATION: Amalfi is a gorgeous place to stay (and the least touristy on the Amalfi coast, as far as we could see). This hotel is situated just above town, with spectacular views of the coastline and sea from every nook and cranny, but only a few minutes walk down into the village. ROOM: We stayed in a Junior Suite (Triple), and found it bright, fresh, and with the best view from a (substantial) balcony that we've possibly ever had. Two flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi (and reliable at that). Terrific room service that cost half or less of what you'd pay elsewhere for food of that quality. STAFF: All extremely friendly and knowledgeable, with immediate resolutions to any questions or problems that came up. This is what service should be. Our nine-year-old son had his birthday during our stay, and they somehow had heard, and went scouring the town for his favorite cake, and presented him with a gift. POOL: An infinity pool overlooking the sea. Perfection. And they're making it better (how??) over the winter, they say. IN SHORT: Looking for a special place to stay on the Amalfi coast? Here it is.

Really lovely hotel with a terrific, helpful staff. The public areas are especially beautiful -- and the breakfast is wonderful. We booked the standard room and it very well maintained, but 'basic.' Not large, but spotlessly clean, with a great bed and good quality linens. The only problem was that the room had no soundproofing and we could hear our neighbors whenever they said a word or made a move. I spoke with the staff about it and they indicated that they would pass on the feedback and that the hotel had some planned renovations over the winter and they might address this issue. Whether they do or not, I believe this has to be one of the best places to stay in Amalfi and I would stay there again. The hotel gave us a bottle of wine, fresh flowers, a bowl of fruit and water daily. I'm not sure whether they do this for every guest, but it was a lovely touch. Free WI-FI.

Room Tip: Our room looked out on a clay roof with a heavenly view of Amalfi above it. We had sliding glass do...

We returned from the Marina Riviera on 30th August. We went to Amalfi to celebrate our daughters 18th Birthday. From the moment we arrived at the hotel we were made to feel welcome by the owners and all the staff . It is ideally situated with amazing views. The rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean. The breakfast is the best that we have ever had at a hotel, with lots of choice that changes daily. There is food also on offer throughout the day which again is of a high standard. For a special meal visit the restaurant Eolo next door - you will not be disappointed with both the food and the service. Marina Riviera really made my daughter's birthday special and we left Amalfi with wonderful memories. We have definatly left a piece of our heart there and we are planning our next trip for 2013. Thank you to everyone at the Marina Riviera for making our holiday perfect.

Room Tip: We had a standard room and a deluxe and they were both perfect with excellent views.

Simply put this is the best hotel in Amalfi!!!! Views are out of this world, staff is spectacular, breakfast is amazing and the hotel as clean as can be! I have been here twice and would tell everyone to stay here!!! If feels like home away from home. No way possible to give this hotel a bad review. I am a frequently traveler and this is one of the best I have seen. I just stayed in room 52, the best there is!!!

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony its worth it!!!!!
