Hotel Aurora was perfect for what we were looking for on our honeymoon. We arrived via SITA bus from Salerno and it was just a 10 minute walk with our bags from the center of town. Our room was clean and had a large terrace with an amazing sea view. I can understand some customer's complaints about it being an old hotel, but we didn't find it dirty at all and Amalfi is a very old historic town and it seemed that all of the hotels had the smaller, charmingly antiquated feel. The outdoor garden terrace of the hotel was a great spot to relax at the end of the night with a bottle of wine. We had to pay for wi-fi, which was disappointing. We didn't wake up in time for breakfast as we were jet lagged, so can't comment on that. We found the staff to be just fine - not overly attentive but enough so that we definitively felt welcomed.
We LOVED the location of Hotel Aurora. It was just outside of the main center of town so it wasn't teeming with tourists and/or day-trippers, yet it also felt like (and was) a very close walk to the center of town so we didn't feel like we were missing out on anything.
Overall for the $ we thought it was a great value and definitively would recommend the hotel to others.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Aurora Hotel is the perfect spot to spend an unforgettable holiday in Amalfi.Located nearby the Amalfi Marina, the hotel is only 500 meters from the hustle and bustle of Piazza Duomo. It is the ideal accommodation for visiting the Amalfi Coast and its picturesque villages, such as Ravello, Positano, Capri and even the Pompeii Excavation, which are all within easy reach. The bus station and the wharf are only 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel. After a long day-trip, Aurora Hotel is just a short walk to downtown and the beach, and it is accessible without climbing stairs. One final recommendation from the hotel management: if you want to spend a few relaxing days in Amalfi, please check Aurora Hotel location on Google Maps and compare it with other hotels. Most of Amalfi hotels are located in the noisy old Town, accessible by climbing long stairs; some others are located on the highway to Positano, so you will need to take the bus, a taxi or your car in order to reach the city, driving down one of the busiest roads in Italy! ... more less
