“Fabulous Honeymoon!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2011

My husband and I spent 3 wonderful nights at the Hotel Amalfi at the end of September/beginning of October, 2011 for our honeymoon. We had originally booked a stay at another hotel near Salerno that was a big disappointment. The Hotel Amalfi accomodated our last minute request for a room. We were on the third floor, had a beautiful sea view and a very large balcony. The breakfast was served on the gorgeous terrace (also overlooking the sea). The staff was very attentive and welcoming. The room was a fine size for two people and had all the basics. There was no WiFi, which we would have liked, but other than that, we had a great stay. We would definitely recommend the Hotel Aurora to anyone traveling to the Amalfi Coast!

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights in mid October. The location is good (except when it's raining, and you have to carry your bags from the bus stop), being approx. 400-500 metres from the centre of town at the end of a no exit street, and and away from the crush of the cruise ship crowd when the boats are "in". We had a superior double room which had nice extensive views of the sea from a terrace adjacent to the room. Breakfasts were adequate (buffet-style) and served in the large room next to reception, rather than in the hotel's beautiful outdoor garden setting (probably owing to the time of year when it was windy and cooling down). Our room had a very small, old TV set that could only get Italian stations and even they were "fuzzy". Time to up grade the TV sets guys. Also, the shower hose over the bath had to be hand-held; maybe they are trying to conserve water!! (making for short showers); we're not sure if this is a feature of every room. The staff are friendly and helpful (helping us with ferry timetables, etc); a lot more could be made of the large lounge/dinning room off reception, which is in need of modernising and re-arranging. We were given an info pack on arrival which we found very helpful.

Room Tip: The superior double room number 29 has nice extensive views of the sea from a terrace adjacent to th...

We have just returned home from a 4-night stay at the Hotel Aurora. It is very conveniently situated overlooking the sea in a quiet area (only 5 minutes walk from the Bus Station and the interesting town centre of Amalfi). The Hotel is nicely decorated and clean although our bedroom was quite basic. The staff were very helpful and we would recommend staying at this Hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a seaview room.

Stayed with my husband for two nights, and wished it could have been two weeks. This is a sweet little hotel, with great views, quiet area, and excellent staff. Andrea and Walter were so helpful with everything, including making dinner reservations, and suggesting other ways to improve our trip. The hotel is nicely decorated with beautiful local tiles, including common areas and the rooms.

My wife and I stayed five nights in the Aurora at the end of September and loved the experience. Its in the quiet part of town, so no noise at night and yet its only a few minutes walk from the center. The sea views from the bedrooms are fantastic, as are the views from the veranda where we had breakfast. The staff are very obliging and friendly, and know the area inside out.

Amalfi is a great town, our pick for a place to stay in that area.

Highly recommended!

My wife and I just returned from a too-short stay at The Hotel Aurora in Amalfi, Italy. This was actually our fourth stay at this wonderful place, and we'll keep going back. We discovered the beauty of Amalfi, and The Hotel Aurora, through a Backroads vacation that we took 5 years ago, and we've been going back about every year since. The hotel is candidly not much too look at from the street - its all the way at the end of town by the pier, there's a marina in front of it and a snack bar, so it doesn't really "stand out" if that's the correct term. But inside you'll find a very nicely decorated, homey place with spacious and well-decorated rooms. The view from the terraces of our room was fantastic, you can see the lower part of town and the whole marina. A great place to enjoy a bottle of wine, some olives and cheese, and watch the boats go in and out. Staff is wonderful and very helpful, and the breakfast each day out in the garden, under the trees - you can't beat it. We're already looking forward to our next trip.

We spent thirteen nights at Aurora and still found it hard to leave. The staff were all lovely and couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. We chose a superior room with a large sun terrace and sun loungers and fantastic sea views! Definitely worth the extra if you are planning to relax a while. It is a smallish hotel but all the better for that and everywhere was spotlessly clean. The hotel is perfectly situated on the marina end of the sea front - a lovely walk into town but wonderfully quiet. As so many others have said the terrace is fab and a great place to have breakfast to start your day! We would definitely love to return one day! Thanks Aurora!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Aurora Hotel is the perfect spot to spend an unforgettable holiday in Amalfi.Located nearby the Amalfi Marina, the hotel is only 500 meters from the hustle and bustle of Piazza Duomo. It is the ideal accommodation for visiting the Amalfi Coast and its picturesque villages, such as Ravello, Positano, Capri and even the Pompeii Excavation, which are all within easy reach. The bus station and the wharf are only 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel. After a long day-trip, Aurora Hotel is just a short walk to downtown and the beach, and it is accessible without climbing stairs. One final recommendation from the hotel management: if you want to spend a few relaxing days in Amalfi, please check Aurora Hotel location on Google Maps and compare it with other hotels. Most of Amalfi hotels are located in the noisy old Town, accessible by climbing long stairs; some others are located on the highway to Positano, so you will need to take the bus, a taxi or your car in order to reach the city, driving down one of the busiest roads in Italy! ... more   less
