“Perfect quiet secluded wedding hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

We planned our wedding to be a private event in Amalfi Italy. This is a small village on the cliffs of the Amalfi coast. The Luna is a converted 11th century Cloister or Convent. Our room was directly over the courtyard and was two floors with two separate very large private patios. The views were spectacular. Service was excellent. The only meals we ate at the hotel were breakfasts. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to experience the magic of Amalfi.

Room Tip: Ask for the room directly overlooking the courtyard. If you get it, you have the best room in the e...

Fortunate enough to be upgraded to the freestanding stone building across the street. Only one room in the building. Huge balcony overlooking the water and pool. Resturant is below. Pool is just down the stairs and very clean.

Room Tip: Try to get the single room in the stone guard tower across the street. Amazing

Excellent position and awesome views and most of the time smiling and helpful staff. The staff uniforms and particularly the restaurant staff uniforms were very tatty and in some cases badly needed replacing! The restaurant food was poor value and the fish had been frozen - I was shocked when I asked the waiter .... here when the produce could be fresh from the sea and the vegetables fresh from the local market .... the vegetables were disgusting and inedible .... very disappointed I was because to dine on the terrace everynight of my 6 night stay would have been gorgious. The local restaurants all had fresh seafood and vegetables!! The cleanliness of the rooms was poor with dirty marks on the walls and the floors could have done with a good wash and vacumm .... instead of using those old fashioned mops when the hairs are just swished from one side of the room to another. Very disappointed there was no internet in the rooms. I run my business (as many travellers do today) when I travel and need to have easy access to a good internet service ... having to go to the cloisters was time consuming and far from private!! I have stayed in numerous hotels with thick walls and they have internet access in the rooms and hotels who want to give their clients an up to date service do not charge extra for a connection ....... what a rip off this is and when told of the charge I had a very bad feeling towards the hotel management. The air con needs upgrading, at present this too is very poor for the quality of this hotel. I am well travelled and travel yearly in Italy and other parts of Europe for pleasure and business, and hope to return to Amalfi, however I will have 2nd thoughts of returning to this hotel. Sorry ... I hope management takes note and make improvements!! MargaretC

Room Tip: Top floors away from the road noise is best especailly if you enjoy having doors open at night.

The pool was awesome, except you have to cross a busy street to get to it. I don't mind though- because it was great! Their was cliff diving, which I did about 20 times :) the air conditioning didn't work he first night, and it was summer, so we REALLY needed it. The staff were very friendly and accompanying though. My grandmas room was amazing. She had two rooms,a full bathroom, her own hallway leading to it, so it was very quiet. And her own unattached porch. The breakfast was simply delicious, and I would DEFINATLY come here again.
The location was also great, with tons of restaurants, different types of shopping (great earrings!!) and a safe feeling. Loved Pepe the pool boy- all the staff was great.

Room Tip: Balcony, LOTS of space, ocean mist and noises...ask for that.

This hotel enjoys a fantastic location. The hotel once was a convent,it's very ancient and evocative. Moreover, the hotel is on a cliff overlooking the sea. The view is beautiful, especially the pool terrace. Also the rooms are beautiful and unique.
A delicious breakfast is served sweets!

This was such a nice hotel and the staff was very helpful with everthing from booking a trip to booking a car. The room was nice but the views were the best. The hotel is located within walking distance of the town. You could walk down the hill and get the SITA bus or the ferry. The breakfast was really good and it was nice to sit outside and have a drink in the evening. The bartender was really nice and helpful as well.

Room Tip: We got a sea view room. It was very nice. The rooms are typical Italian rooms in size not really b...

We were traveling with another couple and overall, we were all pleased with our stay. The views from our rooms overlooking the sea were magificent. The morning breakfat buffet was fabulous. And eating our breakfast outside on the terrace overlooking the sea and town was special. ( I agree with HowardSamuel Block comments on "keystone cops service".) However, the airconitioning and situation in both bathrooms was problematic.( I see Midoriko N posted similar comments regarding these two issues). In both bathrooms, there was a terrible "sewer gas" smell and the ventilation was nonexistent. Also, a lot of water was wasted when we wanted to shower as it took a very long time for both of us to get hot water for our showers. As it was still a bit warm, we wanted to cool down our rooms. During the evening when we returned to our rooms, we kept the windows open and that sufficed. But at night, if the windows remained opened, we would be kept up by the passing traffic on the main street below. The airconditioners were totally ineffective. Only complaint with staff was Salvatore at the front desk. He was unfriendly and downright nasty. Eveyone else tried hard to please and help. Can't say enough about Maurizio at the bar. He is the most professional, friendly, helpful, and accommodating bartender.
