Description: Only a few steps away from the cathedral, hidden in the alleyways of Amalfi in one of the most ancient and peaceful squares of the town, is the Taverna Buonvicino. In the authentic tradition of the Amalfi Coast, our guests will enjoy an a la carte menu and a food and wine tasting menu, strictly serving only products in season, to give them a taste of the places and culture of our territory. Our food is not ready made, but the shoert wait respects the sincerity of preparation and cooking times, far from today's much and ready's culture. For those who want to discover the Hidden Amalfi we suggest a journey that starts at the table and leads towards the colours and tastes of our territory where you can discover new places of belonging. Finally, a hidden corner to propose to those guests of ours who love small surprises. We look forward to seeing you here in this hidden corner because 'The true taste of Amalfi is hidden in the alleyways'

We found this place by walking down a side street, seeing a sign and quickly checking reviews on trip advisor. We didn't have a reservation, but got here around 7:30 and were lucky to get a table in the small courtyard in the square. About 30 minutes later, multiple couples were turned away as the place quickly filled up.

The location is off the main area in a nice rustic courtyard. Perfect for a quiet, romantic dinner.

We have the grilled octopus appetizer and the whole wheat spaghetti with anchovies and shrimp risotto with burrata for our entrees. I never thought I liked anchovies but I took the waiters advise that it was the best item on the menu. He thanked me for trusting him and I was not disappointed. It was delicious. Blind trust sometimes works out.

We also had a good bottle of wine and the bill was reasonable. Service was standard for Italy.

Overall, a great scenic dinner with good food and a reasonable price. If you're looking for a quiet romantic dinner - look no further.

This is a great restaurant. We only managed to find it through a TripAdvisor map search - it is a just a little way from the main street of Amalfi, on the right as you go away from the beach, up a narrow alleyway, past a supermarket.

The venue is very quiet, in a lovely shaded courtyard or inside. The inside we thought had a good decor and a nice feel.

We had a mixture of antipasto courses then went straight to sharing deserts (see photo). Every dish was divine. Especially the octopus starter; and the marscapone desert.

Service was intelligent and good; and everything we thought was reasonably priced and a zillion times better value for money than a greasy panini down on main street.

Dishes took a little while to arrive, which was encouraging and gave you the impression things were made to order. Certainly it tasted as fresh as could be.

Overall a highlight of our time spent in Amalfi.

We went to this restaurant following a recommendation from a rough guides travel book. The restaurant did not disappoint. The staff are very welcoming, funny and accommodating. We got there early which is good as it soon became very busy. We has a seafood dish with home made pasta...very tasty! the setting was also very nice in an open air court yard with music playing. The staff were fabulous and joked with us a lot. I would recommend this restaurant.

Tried to go for lunch but was told by a very rude waiter Had dinner here tonight. Mixed review as the main waiter gave us our menus and I asked "do you have courgette flowers tonight?" He replied "why don't you read the menu and you can see" I ordered the prawn risotto and my husband ordered gilt head chowder, which turned out to be really good but I can't say the same for the risotto. It was very bland with a lot of lemon and very little evidence of prawns or any other flavouring. I tried to ask for the dessert menu but as I asked the same rude waiter actually ignored me and just walked past. The other waiters were really very good apart from the "maitre d" with the tinted hair. I eventually ordered a dessert which was really good -mascarpone with almonds. If the main waiter was more polite or removed it could be an enjoyable experience.

Great restaurant, everything tasted fantastic. The buffel steak and the pasta are excellent. The mascarpone with almonds (the waiter pronounces it as hammond) is the best desert I ever had and the reason that I will definitely visit this scenic restaurant again.
