Description: Only a few steps away from the cathedral, hidden in the alleyways of Amalfi in one of the most ancient and peaceful squares of the town, is the Taverna Buonvicino. In the authentic tradition of the Amalfi Coast, our guests will enjoy an a la carte menu and a food and wine tasting menu, strictly serving only products in season, to give them a taste of the places and culture of our territory. Our food is not ready made, but the shoert wait respects the sincerity of preparation and cooking times, far from today's much and ready's culture. For those who want to discover the Hidden Amalfi we suggest a journey that starts at the table and leads towards the colours and tastes of our territory where you can discover new places of belonging. Finally, a hidden corner to propose to those guests of ours who love small surprises. We look forward to seeing you here in this hidden corner because 'The true taste of Amalfi is hidden in the alleyways'

“Great place for lunch”
Reviewed June 3, 2012

We went for lunch and had a very good time. Friendly staff, fresh food and good service. We started with the cheese and meat antipasti, served with honey - lovely. I had pasta with very fresh tomatoes, my husband had buffalo - perfectly cooked.

Having had such a good time we went again on Saturday night. Our starter was again lovely but we felt everything was more rushed. We chose meat which was perfectly cooked but our vegetables were luke warm.

Lunch was better

“This place is heavily underrated.”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

We traveled throughout Italy and France over two weeks. This was the most heavily underrated place for which we ate. The food and service was very good and the price was reasonable for the quality. Give this place a shot and you may be delightfully surprised.

“Very genuine and off the beaten track”
Reviewed May 9, 2012

Stumbled upon Maccus after a rather uninspiring evening the previous day at Gemma. Maccus is in a very quiet square with good quality seafood and local fare. The owner is present and looks after people but not in a fake overwhelming way. Good value for money and probably the best meal had during a week long visit to the area

“Good food but hurried service”
Reviewed May 7, 2012

Good menu and tasty food but we felt a little hounded by the staff to finish and leave. Admittedly the restaurant was full and they were turning people away but we would have liked to have finished our wine in peace! Try Trattoria da Gemma instead. It's better for food, location and service.

“Overrated”
Reviewed April 7, 2012

Gives the impression that it is something special. It is not. It is very ordinary. You are better of trying something else.
