We actually had a good experience here unlike some of the other reviews. The piazza was much less busy than the main piazza so it was more relaxing. They were a little pushy to get our business but that is how it goes. There was no cover charge. The owner (?) made the recommendation of what to eat as we had limited time. We started with the bruschetta and anchovies (delicious). Then 2 types of pasta; ravioli in a lemon cream sauce and a homemade pasta with clams, mussels and squid in a tomato sauce. Both were very good. The cost was 18 Euro per person. Drinks were on top of that at 5 Euro for a glass of wine. The owner sat at our table and added up the total in front of us. All was good

Customer beware! We were had big time. When we first sat down, the "nipoti" (nephews), very young and super friendly sat us down. Then the "zio" (uncle) took our order. There were three couples, and three times we asked for separate checks. When it was time for the check, after a couple of bottles of wine, of course, the uncle spoke to us (my husband and I speak Italian). He started saying how he wasn't going to charge us a cover, he wasn't going to charge us for service, and we thought we were getting a good deal although we never got separate checks. This guy was fast talking. As we walked away from the restaurant, we had a feeling that he had put one over on us and he did, to the tune of more than 20 Euro. He was miffed, I think, because one couple wanted to share the "primo piatto." Anyway, watch this guy.

The person (I think it was the owner) was very friendly first, persuaded us to stay and explained to us the tradition of the place and the menu. He became more unfriedly when he obviously was of the opinion that we didn't consume enough (although we had a starter and a Fish course + wine each). He became outright rude when I asked if it was possible to pay by card. He left and did not return although he knew we had to take the last bus. When we had to go and tried to pay in cash, he was not able to return 5€.

Our groups enjoyed the ambience of dining in the oldest square in Amalfi and the food generally was good without being memorable. The staff are always friendly and helpful.
