“Delicious food but rude staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2012

The food at Il Tari is great but the staff are not that welcoming and seemed annoyed that their restaurant was filling up with customers. Maybe they were relieved when a couple of people got up and left after having abrupt conversations with the waiters about items on the menu. This aside, it was one of the better restaurants we went to on Amalfi. I had the set tourist menu which included a delicious spaghetti with mussels and clam sauce while my husband picked from the a la carte menu and sampled an amazing chicken cacciatore. If you are not worried about attentive or pleasant staff, the food here will bring you back.

“Very good standard for a restaurant in the middle of the tourist trail”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2012

Saturday night, no booking but we arrived just in time to find a table being cleared. Very busy, staff were bustling all over the place but we still waited an awful long time for drinks and menus.
Typo in menu meant we almost missed the swordfish (oven baked with lemon and herbs) but we found it and it was bordering on excellent. Really good veal dish was also served. A fair amount of local specialities on offer and everything we had was well cooked and well presented. Good house wine and good bread. They certainly pack them in here with the table positions affording good people watching opportunities - of the people at the next table ! Only black mark was the somewhat brusque manner of the " head " waiter who took our orders. Amazing that someone can take your food and drink order without uttering a word ... but being honest, so what the food was truly very good.

“Good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2012 via mobile

Must try the local pasta- scialatietti with seafood.

We were there when a tour group came in. They were busy serving them and didn't really pay us attention. We didn't get serve bread.

But other than the service, the food is good.

“Great food - reservation is recommended or go early at 6pm for dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2012

The restaurant was full while we had our dinner. We didn't have a reservation but the staff were nice enough to give us a table and squeeze us in. We went to the restaurant right when it opened (6pm). The food was tasty - creamy lemon ravioli! The service was great with the exception of one service who got very upset with our table when we requested separate bills. He was initially upset but he did give us separate bills. It was understable given how busy the restaurant was. However, we did tell the staff that we wanted separate bills when we ordered. Overall, still a great restaurant to check out.

“Simple and reasonable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2012

We were able to walk in a get a table easily but the restaurant quickly filled up. The pasta and pizza were very good and good sized portions. They did have a nice wine list but since my husband was not drinking I had a glass of house wine. The house wine was not the greatest but very nicely priced.

Also there was some musicians that played a few songs later in the evening. Fun!
