You must try this place.
We had a really tasty meal sitting on the terrace, soaking up the sunshine. For 12 euros each we had juices (one with orange and papaya, the other a kind of hot lemonade sweetened with palm honey) a massive stew/soup with huge chunks of squash, carrots, potatoes and cabbage - all really full of flavour, an amazing salad with banana and apple in it, a maize hummus with mojo rojo and bread with almogrote. Pudding was less appealing to me but came with a shot of her amazing festive orange wine! It's not cheap but it is well worth paying for the privilege of sampling such wholesome food in unique circumstances.

We'd parked at the restaurant and done a 3 hour circular walk (via Les Creces and Arure) which is a great way to work up an appetite.

Ephigenia may be slowing up but she's a shrewd businesswoman and I defy you to leave without a bottle of her home-made wine, rojo, or palm honey tucked into your bag.

We had a late lunch, and loved the whole experience. Both the restaurant and the food are simple, so don't expect haute cuisine. What you will get is a hearty vegetarian casserole, very tasty, and made from local products, and you can eat at an upstairs terrace and enjoy the view and the sunshine.

Our walks book warned us service might be slow and they were right! However it was worth the wait and we enjoyed a vegetarian menu for a change. As it was halfway round our walk we welcomed the rest and sat on the terrace despite it being a bit chilly. As we waited for Eifgenia so we could pay we enjoyed looking at the lovely flowers in her courtyard and the photos and certificates. It wasn't the best food we ate on our trip but it was the most interesting restaurant.

The title says a lot. Efigenia produces all the foodstuffs including the wine and it is the typical Gomeran cuisine, which is very difficult to find in other restaurants. You can also buy some of the products, which Efignenia uses, such as almogrote, mojo rojo and palma de miel. A set meal costs 10 euros and consists of 3 courses. Good value for money. If you are a meat eater this might not be for you. Efigenia is now over 80 but still comes round to tables and personally sells her own products.
