The tagliata di manzo (cut of beef with thyme and balsamic vinegar sauce) was very good, the verdure alla griglia just ok. Nice terrace in the Sassi.

Great location and good food. We did order one set of starters to share - but got two and had to pay all of it. In consequence we got too much food, we could not finish, a waste of food we don't like at all. After so many starters we wanted to cancel the pasta, not possible. They told us the pasta is already in the pan, we got it after another 20 minutes, no way to prepare pasta for such a long time, especially not in Italy!! We boil the pasta for 7 minutes not more...They did not accept our cancellation.

A beautiful & romantic setting, very friendly and attentive staff and the sausage ravioli was an unforeseen culinary highlight of my whole stay in Italy (and we ate a LOT of incredible food).

We got a super lunch in the Francesca cave while visiting the pixel perfect Matera and escaping the heat. Great (anti)pasti, lovely service from dedicated young people. Greetings from Belgian couple

Actually, the moment we opened the door I started having doubts if this was the right choice. We were probably a little bit too early (at 8pm!), because the restaurant was empty and from the reception desk 3 pair of eyes were fixed on us (even funnier, they were all wearing glasses, which increased the effect, even though I don't think it was part of their corporate identity!)
Sitting in an empty restaurant is never a great experience, no matter how nicely it's decorated (or, in this case, not decorated, because it's a cave and they interior is nicely minimalist). nevertheless, the service was very friendly and very helpful (besides some slight language issues, but then again, it's me not speaking Italian rather than vice versa!) and we had
a) an absolutely amazing red wine (Aglianico del Vulture), available in half bottles, too, so you're not forced to consume more than what you want just for having something better than the house wine
b) a revelation in pasta, truly authentic but quite sophisticated (orichietti with lava bean sauce and pasta with a deliciously spicy breadcrumb sauce...)
c) lovely meat for mains, perfectly prepared (could maybe have been as sophisticated as the pasta, but well, maybe that would have not been authentic)

All in all, a wonderful meal worth a special occasion. And reasonably priced, too. I wouldn't mind visiting again!

By the way, the atmosphere certainly improved when more guests arrived...
