Once in a life experience this hotel in the middle of the ''Sassi''. Spectacular view from the room overlooking wild life nature. Take an aperitif on the upper floor and discover all historical sites of this terrific city. The palace is a mix from museum and hotel with all its modern facilities, including good internet wifi-access. Admire all the paintings and other ancient subjects on your minutes walk to the breakfast room. The Palazzo is situated in the most exciting part of Matera, a few minutes from the famous 'Sassi' and the heart of the historic district with bars and restaurants.
A special thank to the hotel-staff; all warm and helpful people.

As we are on honeymoon this turned out to be the best room of our trip so far. Massive room, arches everywhere, huge bed, french windows overlooking the ravine with swallows and falcon flying close by as the sun set. The hotel converted four years ago from a palace and no expense spared. 14 guest rooms, and we wd recommend room 104. Huge buffet b.fast with fresh fruit and little cakes. Interesting art in all the corridors and rooms. Don,t forget to go up to the roof to get great pictures of the ancient town.
It is difficult to find, but the locals knew its whereabouts and were always helpful. Another bonus was that parking was provided.

Room Tip: Room 104 is on ground floor but still overlooking the deep ravine.

This hotel is at the top of the historic district in an converted palace. The rooms are smallish but inviting with nice bathrooms. Staff was extremely helpful and made sure we were aware of all of the features including a fantastic modern art gallery on the premises in the basement. There is a small lobby bar and you walk through beautifully decorated salons one floor up from the lobby for breakfast service. A small number of parking spaces are available for a premium at the courtyard or you can drop your luggage off and return the car to one of the public lots below the historic hillside buildings. The site is in the heart of the historic district however the modern town can be reached by a short walk downhill past the Duomo. We were very happy with this hotel.

Room Tip: Matera streets are hard to follow... To get to hotel by car drive up Via Del Corso and then to the D...

just few steps away from Matera's cathedral in a hidden alley lies palazzo Viceconte that is a place really worth to be discovered . A meticolous restauration has turned this ancient building into a secret gem
Rooms I had 105 are high vaulted ,furnished using antiques pieces, extremely generous in size with splitted bath and shower and enough space to rest . Bed matress is of good quality and ensure long relaxing sleeps those will be interrupted just by birds singing in the morning - anyhow a double window will ensure you a total silence)
The whole Palace is adorned with tastefully paintings and you can really feel the genuine love behind this project that has achieved an high sense of warm hospitality
The breakfast room on the third floor roof is simply out of this world even if selection is not that wide , from the terrace you can embrace the view of the cathedral clocktower just few meters away , I sassi and all the town that has one of the most unique personality that you can realize only when you experience the magic of this place. There is plenty of restaurants nearby and I recommend to stroll through the roughly shaped stairs of the sassi to find a good place (the old roads of the town are not for hi heel shoes , stay confortable when there)
The hotel has a special art gallery mostly amazing photos that I was delighted to be introduced by the
ex marathonete taking good care of the reception
A parking space is granted to all those brave enough to drive until here
An amazing discovery. really loved it and super recommendable for all those that do not know yet the beauty of Matera- Very good for families and tourist in look of something better

What a brilliant place to stay for the wonderful sights and experiences of Matera. The accommodation is superb and the views from the hotel overlooking the canyon are magnificent. The staff are extremely helpful and the owner always on hand to share his love of the Palazzo.

Room Tip: try to get a room overlooking the canyon

The building is fairly impressive and beautiful. We were welcomed by a very nice host, very helpful.
Of course arriving up there by car was not the easiest part and you have to pay for the car park inside the palazzo... but considering the price of the room in this season, we thought it was the easiest thing to do. We spent one night in a classic room, which we found beautiful and cosy... and we could see the sassi from our bathroom! Also we appreciated being able to walk freely all around the palazzo and admire the building. Breakfast was very good and the waitress, just as the host, very considerate. Definitely a place to make a break and visit this unbelievable place that is Matera.
