“Recently refurbished and better than ever”
Reviewed June 18, 2010

We first stayed in this hotel 5 years ago and loved the location and staff but the rooms were tired, dated and didn't all have air con or balconies. We were very pleasently surprised to find the hotel refurbished when we arrived this time as recent reviews didn't reflect this. The location opposite a private beach (you do have to pay for sunbeds) is ideal and there are great bars and restaurants near by.

We travelled over for a concert, and booked this hotel as it was walking distance to the stadium (stayed 7 days to get some sun). The hotel is 3 star by Italian standards, which may be about right. It would be poor by UK standards and very poor by US standards.
The staff were really good and helpful, but this hotel is only basic. Our room was large enough, double & single bed, air con, but could have done with an complete overhaul, as could the bathroom. All pretty tatty and dated.
Breakfast was uninspiring, but as we stayed in a lovely Perugia hotel also during this stay which served much the same sort of buffet breakfast, maybe that is what can be expected.. Rolls, croissants, with awful ham and cheese, and luke warm coffee or tea.
Best thing, across the street from the beach, but quite a walk to the towns main shopping, restaurant and bar areas. Plenty of local street parking.
Next door was a restaurant Trattoria Betta that served good value local food (you need a reservation).
The Regent seemed quite busy, lots of young people, and probably serves well for a cheapish beach holiday.
Guests pet dogs in the hotel (including the restaurant) seemed pretty ridiculous to us.
I suspect a car might not be essential for a stay at the Regent, but I certainly found it necessary.

Pescara is a bit out of the way and we needed a place to sleep for two nights. The Regent was ideal. Comfortable beds, rooms of adequate size and friendly helpful staff on the desk even if their English a little fractured at times. The restaurant is not great but adequate for breakfast. We dined there two evenings and found the food of good quality and cheap. Public transport is handy and taxi service is readily available. The surrounding countryside and little townships are really a wonderful side trip and make the stay in Pescara all the more worthwhile. Wifi internet was available free in the lobby. Just ask for a password at the desk. Not too many hotels have this facility.

We decided to book a night in Pescara before our flight home. As it was just somewhere to put our heads down for the night we decided on the Regent as after checking Tripadvisor previously, knew it was probably the cheapest hotel in town.
The staff are the best thing about the hotel, all very helpful and polite. The hotel itself is in dire need of refurbishment. The bedroom door kept opening by itself so we had to prop it shut with a chair, bits of window and door frame were missing and the carpets are grubby. The bathroom is old but clean and the bed was comfy but when we came to use the extra blanket from the wardrobe it had blood on it so I had to take it to reception and get it changed.
It's a real shame as it could be a good hotel for a beach holiday, and being only a 10 minute bus ride into town it is in a good location. However, I really do not understand how it can claim to be a 3* hotel when you compare it to the Duca D'aosta which is also 3* but twice the hotel (although twice the price). It was OK for 1 night but in all honesty I couldn't stay there any longer and it only the good staff that I rate it at 2 and not 1.

Have travelled on three occasions to Pescara, 2005/2006/2007, and have always stayed at The Regent. For the money our party of eight payed, we were more than happy with the hotel. OK it's not The Waldorf!, but more then adequate, friendly, helpful staff, clean rooms, great position for the beach, and a pleasant walk to the Bars and Restaurants in the centre of the old town.
Will definitely stay there again

We were very disappointed with this hotel and so were the people that we were travelling with. This is definetly not a three star hotel, more like a 2 star hotel. It is in need a renovation, additional lighting and maintenance. We didn't like the following:

Location:
Although it is realtively close to the beach, you must cross a busy 4 lane road to get to the stabiliments (beach areas) which are blocked off by fencing. This road is quite busy and noisy. You are located south of the main area of Pescara. So, for shopping, piazzas and such, one much walk, bus or taxi quite a distance. You also can't walk north very far along the beach because you reach the harbour.

Tip: If it's beach you are after try some of the towns near Pescara, like Silvi Marina. There you can stay righ on the beach (no crossing roads or anything) for less cost.

Tip: We saw more action walking south from the hotel, rather than going North. It seemed a lot of people were out and about late at night as there were some clubs and cafes open late south of the hotel.

Rooms:
We didn't find the hotel rooms overly comfortable. The TV remote didn't work and the front desk couldn't accomodate with another remote. The rooms were tired and old. Although relatively clean, the bathroom was very modern. The shower was very small. Many people in our group also didn't have water for a few days. I believe this was a Pescara wide problem but it still didn't add to the experience. People on the 1st floor always had water, however. Also, we were left without hot water on a few occasions as well. We also thought the hotel rooms were quite noisy and one could hear a lot of noise in the hallway. The beds were fairly uncomfortable as well and the bed spreads appeared dirty and old. Many people in our tour group had similar experiences.

Food:
The food at this hotel (breakfasts and dinners) didn't impress us very much as compared to other 3 star hotels in Italy.

All in all, this wasn't a great hotel. There's a reason it costs so little for being in such close proximity to the beach. The hotel website photographs are not representative of the hotel rooms. Beware!

Stayed here for two days, was over in the area on a business trip and this was the only place with some rooms.

The hotel is quite old, but this is typical for the area. To be fair the rooms were clean and tidy, there was air conditioning, a TV and all you need. I ate in the restaurant one evening, it was nothing special but the staff were very kind and helpful. I wouldn't choose to come here for more than a couple of days, but it served me fine, they let me check out late as my flight was in the evening.

The price was very low - 50 EURO so it was excellent value for money.

Plus the beach is 25 yds away !
