It was a good hotel. Friendly staff, don't speak english much but it seems like that everywhere in Italy.

Partly view on ocean.

Great location because you are on the beach.

Clean, good service :)

Breakfast was very nice in comparison to other places in Italy we have been !!

We stayed 4 nights at Hotel Maja as my boyfriend was competing in an Ironman race on the Sunday. The hotel is situated right on the sea front so with a room at the front you get a good view, however the road is quite busy so not ideal for light sleepers. The hotel is apparently a 4 star but it is very dated and would be on a par with a 2 or perhaps 3 star hotel in the UK. The aircon in our room didn't seem to work and leaving the window open only invited mosquitoes in and there only seemed to be one plug socket! The hotel staff appeared to be very friendly but all had extremely limited English. They have bikes which hotel guests can use - a good way of getting down into the prettier old town. Breakfast is generally quite good with fresh fruit, cake, croissants and hot options. If you're looking for somewhere just to sleep and have a shower, then the hotel Maja is fine - but it's quite expensive and I definitely think there's better places in the town.

The balcony view from our spacious comfortable modern hotel room which was located directly on the main 9 km. long ocean side tree lined avenue, offered wonderful uninterrupted views of the the flat sandy beached coastline and the lapping Adriatic. The only blot on the landscape was the derelict building directly next door whose grounds served as the hotels free parking area. The substantial choice buffet breakfast on offer was most enjoyable. Taking everything into consideration though, my opinion of The Hotel Maja is that it was slightly over priced for the amenities on offer. I could not fault the staff who were friendly, helpful, attentive and efficient.

Room Tip: A sea view with balcony is a necessity if you really want your money's worth at this hotel.

We had our meeting on the top floor with nice views. I liked the breakfast a lot, and to me the staff was very pleasant though we sometimes had no mutual language. The walk to the city centre took some 15 minutes.

This is a nicely situated hotel by the beach, and a decent walk to the town. It's not a fancy hotel, but we had everything we needed, including parking space and a storage room for our bikes. Everything was clean and well kept. The staff was very friendly.

Hotel Maja had a mixture of positive and negative things, which, if you add them all up, you get an average result. On the positive side you had a very nice breakfast, a very reliable wi-fi connection and a great view of the sea. On the negative side: the aesthetics of the rooms were well below average, the bed was rather bad and in general the furniture belonged to another decade-definitely not the previous one- and was inconvenient, the plugs were not installed in convenient places, nobody from the staff spoke english or at least to a level that you could hold a basic discussion and we felt a bit "tricked" at the end, since we ended up paying for the coffee breaks provided, despite the fact that our group had booked some 20 rooms (if not more) and our host had already paid of the organisation of the meeting. This was announced during the first day of the meeting for some lame excuse that they found (claiming that some people from the group had made their reservations through booking.com and they paid less). I don't know what their competition is, but it was surely overpriced for the overall impression.

Upsides:
- Breakfast was great.
- The sunbeds and umbrella on the beach are included in the room price. We found this very comfortable.
- The street along the beach had everything we needed. There are restaurants and pubs quite close by.
- Our room had a seaside view.

Downsides:
- Our room was clean and contained everything we needed, but seemed a bit old. It must have been a smoking room, because it had a bit of a smell.
- You have Everything you need close to the hotel, but if you want to explore the town or go shopping, you end up walking back and forth along the beach. It's not a bad place to walk at all, but it gets tiresome. You can rent hotel bikes if you want.
- Sunshine hit the balcony in the morning only. The rest of the day there was a shadow.
- Don't try to get any advice from the hotel staff in English.
