I went to the Buck and Bell for a Sunday lunch as part of large party of 26 people for a friends birthday. We all had the Food off the blackboard, with most of us having starters, mains and puddings. The service was excellent, the food wash such good quality and tasted Devine and the wine was delicious. I can't wait to go back. What a find! They even do an organised Sunday walk at 10am in the local countryside, starting with bacon sandwiches at 10am, the walk and then returning for the Sunday roast. I will definitely be doing this soon.

We are regular visitors to this pub/restaurant and have always found the food very good and the service excellent. However we visited for dinner on 18.01.14 and found a real change in all areas. The place was half empty which is unusual for a Saturday evening. We weren't shown to our table but had it pointed out across the bar. That was ok. We are resourceful people and could find our way and we don't make a fuss about small things! A waitress came to take our order. We asked for our usual bottle of wine but were told they don't have it anymore. We asked for a Pinot blush to be told they don't do anything like that. At this point we suggested that maybe the waitress would like to give us a wine list. She turned on her her heel and seemed a bit put out! Our meals came but my husbands rib eye steak was practically all gristle and inedible. He asked for it to be changed. While we waited another waitress came over and explained to my husband that he probably didn't realise that rib eye is fatty. He does realise that but didn't expect it to be all gristle. There was no apology from the waitress who I think may have been the front of house manager, she didn't say. Her attitude was quite patronising. Our wine arrived and we chose not to taste first so the waiter took the top off and plonked it down on the table in front of us and walked away. It went on in similar vein. Staff didn't bring dessert menu when asked, my liqueur coffee was cold and only half full. When my husband ordered coffee while the waitress was writing the orders he was told to "hang on a minute". The atmosphere was unwelcoming and staff couldn't care less and bordered on rude with the exception of one young man who got me a hot coffee. We have been regular customers and recommend this place to all our friends. We are not hard to please and don't make a habit of complaining but this is not the place we know and love anymore. We won't be returning unless we hear it has changed

We were visiting the area & I sought out a good traditional pub, found this one on the intranet & what a gem! Arrived on the dot of 12, received a lovely warm welcome, offered a seat by the real roaring fire! Great menu, super choices. Wonderful food, excellent, genuine service & great surroundings. A pleasure to find, do try you will not be disappointed. Super! Thank you.

This is a great pub restaurant for lunch, dinner or just a drink. Excellent food, beer and ambience. We have eaten, and drunk, here often.

We have just had lunch at this pub/restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed the ambience and the food, which was imaginative, tasty and beautifully presented. Well worth a journey if it is not on your usual route!
